The Emperor of Eternity has a really interesting historical setting that had me running to look at information about the real history of the time.
Of course, when the figures of soldiers is discussed, I knew they must mean the terracotta warriors. I knew that the silvery waterways had to be mercury, but I was dubious about that much mercury being concentrated in enough quantity to form a lake or river, but apparently archaeologists don't really know for sure. The area is too fragile to be totally excavated without damaging the relics, but they have found evidence of high levels of mercury in the soil there, so it could be true.
The story itself was interesting and fun to listen to. The parts played by Jamie and Victoria were well thought out and well executed, as well as the role of the Doctor in trying to find the key to immortality for Emperor Qin. (Apparently that was one of his obsessions and another reason for the construction of the hidden tomb.)
Definitely worth listening to. I enjoyed it a great deal.
