Just finished. Loved every minute!
I hope Big Finish has more of these planned.

I liked this one well enough but it kinda confirmed what I suspected - that a little Strax goes a long way. The jokes - gets the genders wrong, ready to declare war on anything that moves etc - worked very well here, as they have on screen but I think they'd weary in an ongoing series. He's a bit of a 2-dimensional character who can't be used for much more than he was here. Some parts, especially Strax going to the theatre, were clearly written not as part of the story but just to come up with a set piece where he'd be funny. The best part of the story, for me, was Jago and Litefoot themselves - they just get on with things these days. Seeing Sontarans and spaceships is par for the course They really are wonderful characters inhibited by two great actors.

I'll assume everyone knows I mean inhabited! Inhibited is NOT how I'd describe Jago anyway!

This was BRILLIANT. It's up there with "The Kingmaker" for comedy... the only thing that lets it down, perhaps, is the plot is so thin by comparison. I could have listened to hours and hours more of the three of them!

That said, I agree with David that a little Strax goes a long way and this 2 hour special certainly came close to exceeding the recommended dosage of our favorite Sontaran. Not a lot of mention here but I loved how involved Justin Richards got Ellie involved in the affair. As I'm fond of saying any Jago & Litefoot is a good thing, so more please.

From the 4 selections of Jago, Litefoot, Strax and Ellie, I wonder which 2 sufferers Mrs. Multravers would have ultimately chosen as "energy receptacles" if her plan was successful. Professor Litefoot would have been 1 selection, but the second selection I have no idea who she would have picked.

Even better than expected. Strax was used perfectly. The atmosphere was beautifully crafted. Hope we hear more of Strax in some form.

Listened to the first episode of Jago & Litefoot & Strax today and it reminded me a little of An Unearthly Child episode one. Jago & Litefoot basically fulfil the Ian and Barbara role with their contemplating who this mysterious person is. The most notable difference is that rather than following their said mysterious person, they accidentally bump into him during their own investigation into a haunted house. Also: love the comedy so far, especially the scenes where Strax claims someone has stolen the kitchen and his belief that a parrot was actually a Rutan in disguise.

Finished listening to it today and whilst it's not the greatest story, it was good fun. I especially liked Strax's joke about librarians.

When this first came out I remember being bothered by the primes being listed as “1, 3, 5, 7, 11”, but I recently stumbled on some interesting history around that! There wasn’t a mathematical consensus that 1 isn’t a prime number until the 1950s, so it might have been a shot at historical accuracy. Couldn’t find anything about 2 not being considered prime by the 1800s, and the ancient Greeks had it nailed, so not sure if there’s an excuse for that one.

Re-listened to this actually TWICE during the past 4 months. It has become one of my go-to audios that calm me down and cheer me up when I am stressed and in a bad mood. The story itself is a pretty standard amnesia / alien threat plot. However, it has enough original elements, twists and fun moments that make it very enjoyable and special. It is also wonderfully performed. You would think that maybe adding Strax to Jago and Litefoot would overdo it with the comic relief, but he actually slots in nicely, and yes, the comedy is there, but it is not getting overboard. Very well done.

Revisited this today cos of tuigirl’s enthusiasm and the need for something to listen to on train journey. Only heard this once before. The plot is very so-so and it does feel elongated to make the two hour mark…but the characters are all there and true, so I don’t mind. A fun runaround and sometimes that’s all you need.

It is not Shakespeare. But it does not want to be.
