I think if I'd been recast I'd feel fairly disoriented.

NOOOOOOOO dont kill Leila yet .....we just haven’t had enough of her and David Shelby yet I hope not either but it seems unlikely she'll be sticking around for very long. If there's one thing that kinda bugs me about how Big Finish's approach to their audios it's that they feel the need to adhere to the canon established in Return to Collinwood which is a little frustrating. It means we know where things are going to go for a lot of characters to an extent which means we know what plot points are gonna matter and which won't.And since he's not married to her in that, well, it's safe to say she'll disappear eventually. But I agree, I really like their chemistry and hope we get a bunch of them. Unrelated to this, I find it interesting people were hating on the person playing Julia until it was revealed it was Julie Newmar. I'm excited by it of course but that one snippet was pretty disapointing. Of course maybe it'll work better once we get to hear her in the series proper. I hope so. First point—try not to focus on the ending, when it’s the journey that’s important...and besides, we now have post-Return to Collinwood stories, so it’s no longer necessarily the ending. Who’s to say that Lela doesn’t meet up with Quentin again sometime after 2003? Or even still, sometime in the past or in parallel time? They can really go just about anywhere—a world like DS being so fluid! Second point—not everyone hated on the Julia clip, so speak for yourself! 😉 I actually said from the beginning that I found it VERY intriguing. It was way too short to form any type of opinion, and we are so excited to be getting Julia again! Julie Newmar is a bonus. I think you saw a few early premature opinions—they agreed with yours—and then went to the conclusion that everyone stopped “hating on” it after the Newmar announcement. I think those early opinions were probably just the most vocal. As I said, I didn’t want to speculate early until I had more context. It’s going to be great. It’s NOT Grayson, and doesn’t need to be. I hope this sounds positive, and not critical of your post. I don’t want to seem argumentative and I welcome your response/thoughts/opinions. Just wanted to present one other viewpoint! Cheers, and hope you’re having a great night!

Cheers, and hope you’re having a great night! This quote is getting VERY unweildy- ill try and edit it later, as im away from my computer at the moment. Thats fair, i suppose i did just kind of assume going off of just what a few others said. And regarding my annoyance with Return to Collinwood- I started getting more invested in Dark Shadows when I decided to try out Bloodlust and loved it several years ago when it was first getting released. I didnt know that Return to Collinwood was taken unto account with the Big Finish stories until like...a couple nonths ago when I was reading an interview with the ranges producer. I guess it frustrates me because now I know certain events which have occured arent going to last- Amy and David’s marriage is now definitely going to end since its not (to my knowledge anyways) mentioned in Return to Collinwood. Same with Maggies recent marriage- i know shes going to end up with Quentin in the end. I guess I have a hard time getting invested when I know for a certainty these relationships wont last (even if I kind of assumed as much beforehand as it is) And your post was fine! Critical yes but not rude or demeaning And also a fair point about Paralell Time. That woulf be quite interesting to explore.

I think people who think "well I know how that will work out" are taking *exactly* the wrong approach. Being linked into Return to Collinwood ALLOWED the introduction of characters like Lela IN THE KNOWLEDGE that some people will know that come Return to Collinwood she's not on the scene. So those people will wonder what's going to happen with/to her by then. Forewarned is foreworried.
Similarly some short stories set after Bloodline have been released already. These could have been written differently - or rewritten - once it was known they'd come out first but it wasn't felt to be an issue. Knowing part of what's coming should be intriguing about what the details are. Storytelling is not linear. Especially in a time travel show.

The very first reaction to the JuliaPeculiar I saw was on Twitter where the listener was delighted by how Julia-like he/she thought she was.

Ill try and look at it that way, I guess. It does create a kind of tension that wouldnt have existed otherwise. I guess part of me likes the entertain that certain relationships will have lasting consequences, which admitedly, they still might. Its best to enjoy the ride in a way, like someone said previously- the journey is the important thing. I guess its just a different approach for me to take with a character drama.

I wonder if you could possibly have put this any better, yet I do take argdov's point about difficulty investing in characters or stories when you know what's ahead. Even for the many TV spoilers that managed to find me when I was reading Wikis and getting reacquainted with the program, there were probably none quite like the ones in some of the audios themselves, even if that's partly because of how much more there is to spoil in the lengthy TV story arcs than in the audios. I really do have to pretty much forget about what lies ahead in order to more fully appreciate some of the audios in question - but I suppose I'm proof it can be done easily enough, as is probably how much enjoyment there is revisiting the OS or the audios once you've already experienced them and they no longer hold suprises. Being able to enjoy the TV series in spite of knowing what comes later in the audios is of course even more incentive to cultivate a sense of forgetfulness about future events that are already known. BTW, I hope I didn't contribute to the impression of a consensus that doesn't approve of the recast, I'm going to have to hear a lot of more of Julie as Julia before I really know what I think and it may be only fair to give things a chance and hear the whole thing before I try and make up my mind. I'm very much that way with the Brigadier being recast as well, I simply haven't heard enough of Jon Culshaw in the role to know what I really think, but for me Grayson Hall is even more, as Joseph Lidster says, iconic.

According to the BF front page Episode 1 is available to download, but it does not appear to be in my account either via website or app.

Actually you can download it in the "Pre-releases" section of your account if you bought the first boxset. Unfortunately it means that it can't be downloaded on the app.

I guess I shouldn't be jumping at things so much - I still need to blow through the post-Bloodlust single releases before starting it

So I’m only 20 minutes into the episode and I’ve got some theories:
1. Vivian isn’t going to be guilty even though Jackie is innocent, the judge is obviously a Trask 2. Jessica is pregnant, it’s a pregnancy test that Cody saw in the blue whale. 3. Rhonda and Dr. Hill are up to something supernatural

If you go into your account, and scroll down to your downloads, change the third dropdown box from "Released" to "Pre-Releases" and then click the Filter Now button. After the page has refreshed with the new filter settings, scroll down to (or Ctrl-F to) your Bloodline preorder and it'll be a link on the right-hand side. Note that this does not work in the app - app availability will follow once the full Volumes are released. If it's still not there, I would recommend reaching out to Big Finish. I bought the bundle version, and that's how it works for me, so I can confirm that it does work. If yours isn't there, there has to be a problem.

It works for me - thanks, Digi! I'm not sure whether this method of downloading is a glitch, or whether it is because of the unique way this DS mini-series is being released, but it's a pain to get to. Either something is released or not! Anyway, Episode One is downloading happily now and I am greatly looking forward to hearing it
