I think they both leave a some to be desired, but I give points to the one on the right for putting a cemetery between the mansion and Windows' Hill, for putting the mansion so close to the water, for making the town larger than the mansion, and for putting at least one curve in the winding road from the mansion to town. Drawbacks with the one on the right are that I think everything around the mansion is too close together and it's all probably much too close to town.
(I'm basing most of this mainly on earlier episodes: Roger's drive into town, and Dr. Guthrie's).
Lol at the one of the left that has a handy hospital right across the road to send the victims to for a transfusion. I don't seem to remember that. :-)

I feel like the early episodes emphasize how disconnected Collinwood is from the town and everything. Burke calls for a cab to get to the Collinsport Inn and Vicki still needs a ride from there to Collinwood. Windcliff is a long drive from Collinsport and yet a couple of times in the series, you have actors walking to and from there. Collinwood and the Old House are usually 10-15 minute walk apart through the woods. People also seem to brave the weather, in skirts in coastal Maine in the dead of winter no less. I don't think the original writers were too worried about keeping the physical layout precise. After all, this show was not intended to be ever watched again. If you can, I wouldn't worry too much about the exact layout, though personally I do like the second one more.

Yes i settled on the second one and as for people going out in unsuitable attire in winter weather have you never visited Glasgow? 😂

I have and it's not as chilly as my wintery forays into Maine, but then again, people don't always dress weather appropriate, especially in tv shows, haha. I remember watching one show where a character was freezing to death and no one thought to zip up her jacket. It's a little detail I find amusing.

Yes but it was probably and expensive undergarment or t shirt that HAD to be shown..to hell with hypothermia
