Just spoils it slightly for me but i can live with it...if they had cast a different actor then i would have been more accommodating to its inclusion I guess the producers figured it'd be a good marketing hook for fans of the Confessions range. Probably-i saw a thread about “what other ranges would you like to see Dorian in?”

I think it worked that way for me. If this Dorian person was so important that they were going to have him appear in Dark Shadows, I wanted to get more background on him while I was waiting for The Darkest Shadow to be released - but I loved the atmosphere of the Dorian stories, and the acting and the format (the way they hop around chronologically must be the next best thing to time travel). I'm still not sure I'd have ever bought any Big Finish stories that weren't Dark Shadows if it weren't for the possible cross-over. Don't know if I think it's the same Dorian that has his own range who guests in The Darkest Shadow, in fact I think maybe I enjoy not having to make that decision, but I think it's nice to have the option - not only with Dorian and DS, but with Dorian and DW, and DW and B7. There's just about enough there that they could all be going on in the same universe if the listener prefers - or not, if the listener would rather they weren't. I thought it was really a neat idea though for Quentin to have someone to confide in who might actually understand what his life is like instead of thinking he's had a few too many, so if it isn't the very same Dorian, I at least like to imagine that the Dorian that Quentin knows has also seen a lot of strange and spooky things.

It could be am just grumpy old man now lol but i just never felt the need to have everything neatly tied together in one universe. I get that people like that and want that I just tend to skip over those things when am listening. if it keeps folks happy so be it it’s their universe in their mind. I had watched growing up Survivors,Omega Factor Doctor Who Blake’s Seven so they were always separate entities for me
