Just noticed that it says the packaging is 2x2 disc, so it looks like it’s going to be like the 1DA packaging rather than the usual 4x1 sets or even the jewel case sets. I believe it's just like the 1DA's, but no extra case for the bonus disc. The 1DA's will also no longer have a bonus disc starting with volume 4 next year.

The article in the recent Vortex on Series 9 is worth a read. The writers know what makes a Season 18 story, specifically E-Space, the stories sound interesting and I thought their interpretation of this particular TARDIS crew was fascinating; I’d never thought of it like that before.

Just started listening to the preview of "Chase The Night" via the newest BF newsletter and am curious: Does Lalla Ward enjoy doing these? Or is she being directed to sound as irritated and inconvenienced as possible?

Whenever I’ve heard her in BTS features, I’ve come away with the impression that her personality type is...let’s go with “very self-assured,” and that she enjoys the work because it’s quality material.
So she’s acting, and channeling a bit of herself when she plays the part. Which describes most actors, really.

I loved hearing Lalla as Romana in the BF version of Shada with McGann - she managed a balance of confidence and playfulness. Romana sounded like she was having *fun*. Admittedly, while I'm using to hearing the serious "President Romana" version in things like Gallifrey, I hadn't really heard a lot of Lalla reprising the Season 17/18 version, so it's a bit of a mental gear shift to hear her sound so abrasive (for lack of a better word).

She sounded furious at the beginning of the episode, but mellowed a bit as time went on. I thought her - what shall we call it - petulance was kind of dealt with in {Spoiler} The Thief Who Stole Time and that she had mended her ways, but perhaps not.

Fourth Doctor and Romana are my all time favourite partnership in Doctor Who. So I always look forward to hearing more adventures with them, however I must admit that my imagination has to work extra hard when listening - imagining Romana smiling, with a twinkle in her eye to counteract the audio.

It occurs to me that as we wait for new 4th Doctor to be released that with BF and Tom Baker working so far ahead that they have probably already recorded stories to be released in Tom's 50th anniversary on the show. I would have to think we will get something special in June of 2024.

With all the Big Finish and BluRay releases, along with the novels on offer over the past few years I feel like I am living through a new golden era for the Fourth Doctor. It is nice to think that this era will be continuing, however I cannot imagine what they could possibly do to celebrate and commemorate his 50th!? What would you like to see?

Minor character point {Spoiler} Wow. They really have softened the portrayal of Romana. She is even sympathetic to Adric. Just shows that you can do things in sci-fi that aren't possible in real life.

That's great to hear! One of the things that was putting me off picking up Series 9 was that I found the performance of Romana too brittle in the Series 6 adventures.
