You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

I desperately hope it will not be the last but the way Nick has been talking about Survivors in the last couple of podcasts makes me worry. As BF are committed to series 8 and 9 I would hope they will not take a final decision until they see how well they sell but, even at that, it's not looking good if Nick's comments are to be taken at face value.
The last couple of series haven't been just quite as good. I think they raced though the TV season 3 a bit too fast, we could have had another boxset of the off-screen adventures of Greg and Abby. I also felt, and I'm going to be controversial here, that with series 7 Survivors has to some extent been "hijacked" by Louise Jameson and Helen Goldwyn who are trying to turn it into a Tenko/ ATA girl type series about strong female characters. To be clear, I've no issue with strong female characters being part of the mix, and that certainly applied to Abby in the original series, but with the demise of Greg it seems like that aspect has taken over the whole series and there are no counter-balancing strong male characters left other than one-off villains for the female heroes to vanquish.
I hope they can turn it around, here's my two pennies' worth on what I'd like to see and what they could try
1. Bring back Greg Preston. Smallpox is not fatal and his assumed death was off-screen. Ian McCullough proposed a 4rth series in the 1970s and the 1990s, both of which would have involved Greg still alive. BF could also do a lot worse than asking Mr McCullough to write an episode 2. Don't bring back Jackie. She really is the most annoying character, and I've seen more people on this forum complaining about her than praising her. If I had to make a choice between her or the return of John & Lizzie I would have to think very carefully. 3. Bring back Jimmy Garland. Fantastic character, criminally underused by BF - the Jack Bauer of survivors. Lots of potential for good thrillers.
Other things they could consider would be the return of Anne Tranter (Myra Frances is still alive) or Arthur Wormley (would require a recast) as both are terry Nation created characters. If budgets are an issue then I guess that means acquiring the rights to Charles Vaughan is out. They could also look at increasing the price as anyone committed enough to have stuck with it for 9 seasons is probably committed enough to pay an extra £5.

9 series is very good. And why not have a pause go out on a high and come back later if there is a demand. These are not cheap things to either make or buy. People’s taste for material varies.Sometimes am in a mode for Survivors sometimes for The Prisoner. But BF are releasing such consistently good stuff that making a choice becomes a wee bit more difficult. My tastes vary the strength of my wallet though doesn’t lol. Am now just finding CounterMeasures after completing most of The Dark Shadows range. Am sure Big Finish gauge things on how much the pre order are taken up.Its a bit like crowd funding.Perhaps they should once a year do a Counter Measures versus Survivors and whatever gets the most preorders gets the series lol and the losers get their funds back lol👍 Or the losers agree that their funds are diverted to the winning Series

I've no problem with the Jackie character whatsoever. (And it seems to be the same small vocal minority who does.) Or how female led it is.
I agree though I'd have liked a more slow advance through the timeline.

Survivors is very possibly my favourite range, but I can’t say it would be the worst thing in the world to give it a bit of a rest. Take a little time to rest and regroup, dream up some stories that are as terrifying and emotionally wrenching as the first few box sets. For my part, I’m far more interested in Apocalyptic Survivors than I am in Farmer Survivors. I've no problem with the Jackie character whatsoever. (And it seems to be the same small vocal minority who does.) And I’ve had quite enough of that crowd, too!

I have said the same rest regroup. This is a world that is fascinating in its outlook. No zombies no new alien threats it really has so much more to tell.I do love the original main characters and their journey. If the team do go off and do other things it can bring fresh ideas this is a world that basically ended in the 1970s that is pretty fascinating in its own right. As for people griping...part of life, they gripe so much they probably get things cancelled.Thats why the more positive views should be vocalised loudly in bold print 😂
