I’ve only heard the first season, and would say I liked but didn’t love it.
It’s very traditional fantasy...its stories are typical fantasy fare, its characters are very much archetypes almost in the videogame mold (the wise wizard, the drunken rogue with a heart of gold, the strongman dwarf, the wry archer, etc), and acting that’s (I assume) deliberately a little hammy.
Despite that (or maybe because of it?) it succeeds at being entertaining ‘popcorn fare.’ The characters are endearing, the actors sound like they’re having a good time playing them, the stories are comfortable yet still interesting. At least for the one season I heard, it didn’t reach beyond the box it defined for itself, but it performed very well within that box.
I don’t know how well I’m selling it here, but ultimately I did enjoy the first season. At some point I will check out the rest, too.

The 1st series(6 episodes)each Running a little over an hour in length follow our 4 intrepid Heroes. Valeros, a warrior who can be a bit too big for his boots at times(always in trouble) ,and likes a drink or three, also sees himself as God's gift to Woman,Much to the amusement of Merisiel the Elf.she's very clever and a good fighter, and she always has a sarcastic jibe for Valeros when he gets out of hand. Then there is Harsk the Dwarf.A bit of a misery-guts,never happy but great to have in a fight.Ezren is the Wise-Wizard and generally considered to be leader, sometimes he can be a little over confident and talk himself into trouble. For me the interaction between these four characters, superbly played IMO by the actors,is what really makes this whole series such a pleasure to listen to,whether they are laughing, fighting,in mortal danger,or just arguing amongst themselves, the banter is brilliant and highly amusing!! Put that together with the usual excellent writing of BF,and a brilliant soundscape, all three series are great. I for one was really sad when BF decided to call time on these Think of the hour long episodes more as the Tv-series and the 2 hour episodes as The Motion-Picture try one what do you have to lose? All four characters feature in the three seasons.

Well it was either subscribe to main range or buy the lot of pathfinder

I got a bit of Pathfinders on sale and it didn't grab me enough to buy the lot - even in a very good sale.
I think it's kind of standard fantasy, from what I've heard of it.

I picked up the entire range in one of the recent sales. I've tried to get into it but I don't know that it is really my thing. I will say that on a production level it is up to BF's usual high standard.

Yes!! I thought I made that clear But as you can see from other comments, it is not everyone's "Cup of Tea"

Well you have the lot so pick a shit day and listen you will probably end up loving it,it is probably a higher standard than the walls and walls of fantasy epics in your local bookstore 😆

No. I'm saying everything I've listened to is of a very high standard. It just wasn't for me. That said, I will give it another chance one day.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I love fantasy in manny forms and thought Pathfinder was fun. I enjoyed it but found that it didn't push many barriers in terms of theme, plot, setting or character. The dialogue is quite good except when it comes to fight scenes when it gets a "bit 80s" but I don't regret listening to it. It's on a par with the Dragonlance books, if that helps or means anything.

The world building is probably the strongest angle. The protagonists explore the world, meeting people and use different tools fighting a variety of enemies.

I am very sorry to see Pathfinder Legends go. Not least because Big Finish don’t do anything even vaguely similar.
Yes it was a very standard fantasy set up, but that was fine by me.
The four main characters are brilliant together and their interactions were the highlight of the range.
Series 1 has a different format to the next two series, being shorter in length (only one disc per episode) and with more narration from Ezren to help move the story along. Personally I would have liked them to have kept the narration as it felt more like a tale was being told.
However my personal favourite was the third series, because of all the wonderful other characters they met - both the good, the bad and the ugly ones!
