I had avoided buying any of these volumes as i had read nothing but negative stuff about it but hell it was on a price markdown on Amazon and arrived this morning.I do not know were all the negativity had come from from looking through it it is just what i had been looking for and will of course be buying the first volume. From reviews i was expecting something horrendous but for a sit back with a cuppa kind of book its excellent and even has the ranges discussed that are no longer available good stuff

The negativity wasn’t directed towards volume 2 but volume 1. The first opens with a pretty huge and glaring error and is followed by several more. I don’t remember any real criticisms of the second volume.

A reference book you can't rely on when you need to check things out is fairly pointless, as if it gets the simple stuff wrong - which it did - what else might be wrong?
I never bothered with Vol. 2 after that.

I think that there was a hell of a lot of nit picking towards vol1, sure some bits are not correct but so are most newspaper or magazine articals
It’s ok and interesting read, if you find nicks hazey anicdotes interesting in the podcast randomoid section of the podcast interesting you will enjoy this.
My biggest problem is the books are bloomin heavy and awkward to read

Really? Volume 1 is that bad? I never bothered with it cause it didn't seem like the kind of thing I would enjoy reading.

Really? Volume 1 is that bad? I never bothered with it cause it didn't seem like the kind of thing I would enjoy reading. Actually have quite enjoyed volume 2 especially the Whole Tomorrow People Section and Graceless and Stargate and of course Bernice it’s quite informative . I haven’t found any glaring errors in it that I can see and anyways it’s a good we reference thing for the range. So what were the glaring errors in volume 1? But I shall get the first volume as if it is laid out the same as vol 2 it’s a handy wee reminder of the release orders with ample space below each synopsis to add my own notes. Volume 3 -well of course it should be in colour and proof read for errors 😂 Sometimes we should be more forgiving as fans of things, they at least have attempted to give the fans something.

I kind of know a thing or two about volume 2, given that I wrote it.
My approach was to speak to the writers of every story, and as many of the directors, actors, producers, cover artists, sound designers, musicians, etc, as possible.
It's all original text, with the Tomorrow People section being carefully researched to show what would have come next, going through mountains of paperwork and email exhanges.
Personally, I only received positive feedback, but it's for others to judge whether it's a good read.
I just wrote the book that I, as a huge Big Finish fan, wanted to read.

I have very much enjoyed it like i said i had read such neg stuff about volume 1 that i held off.But i have really given up reading reviews and (no offence lol)It was under 20 quid on Amazon lol(its the Scot in me )I think its a great companion piece.I had memories of buying the first Target book The Making of Doctor Who (ahh memories)

Yes or join the first two together.I remember they updated The Target Making of Doctor `Who and i was like a kid in a sweet shop all those old episode synopsis and the photos in the middle. It really does need a volume 3 i mean Jags and litefoot needs extended and all those spin offs but i like the layout so no complaints there .

I enjoy reading it, especially since it covers the Stargate audiobooks. A volume three would be wonderful, possible in an ebook format as well as physical.

If compilation time is an obstacle, than an e-magazine subscription is something I'd sign up for. The Pathfinder ones would be interesting, finding out about how the writers adapted the storylines for example.

I did my Big Finish fanzines on a semi regular basis, back in the day. I have been giving away the first Lucie Miller series issue on Twitter this past week. It's in printer ready pdf form.

Yes there are possibilities and reading it has gave me insight into other series I wouldn’t necessarily have bought.I like something to reference.Theres room for plenty more.Am a reference guy lol.I read all those Outlander Books and am glad they Did The OUTLANDER COMPANIONS. Nicely laid out full of intriguing info and character related info and saved me going back and rereading 1000 odd pages to find stuff i had forgotten.(maybe have a look at them Kenny) although i would say The BF companion has a nicer layout but both cost the same)
