Given the quality with which Bloodline landed, I am willing to wait... but I will admit the lack of updates is somewhat worrying.

There is a potential box-set-sized hole in April, still.

It's not worrying IMO. A lot of Big Finish output lately has held announcements till pretty late in the game. Heck, it was just the other day that they announced a set starring both Alex Kingston and John Barrowman, and that's out next month.

A valid point Digi (though quite how I completely missed not seeing your point when you posted *checks notes* eighteen days ago is beyond me...🤦♂️). Fingers crossed for an official announcement next month then!

Nothing in the latest Vortex magazine about this yet. HHMM :-( It is starting to look more and more like there might be a delay on Windcliff (they were aiming for an April release?). If that is the case then I'm keeping my fingers crossed that is nothing more serious than our old friend 'contributor availability'.

One of the FB groups have speculated on rights issues now there is a proposed new series and with the fact the previously chatty contributors have gone silent on social media.

I'm going to hope that this is nothing more than speculation, but it certainly would explain the silence on the Dark Shadows and Windcliff Twitter accounts on the subject in the past few months. Hopefully Aussie's poking and prodding might give us an answer.

I was hoping things were quiet on the home front because everyone is busy being hard at work on the project.
I was also hoping things haven't turned out any different than the Burton movie, where a new Dark Shadows production and a Big Finish range seemed mutually beneficial.
A new Dark Shadows series will definitely be getting started on the wrong foot with me if it compromises the Big Finish line.

I’m just speculating as much as everyone else, but I would suspect the TV show would likely not have an impact. When an IP is licensed out, it tends to be for either x number of releases or until date y, so I wouldn’t anticipate someone doing a new TV series affecting existing licensing terms with someone else. Now, if the BF DS license were to expire in August and the TV show starts up in September, there’s cause for concern as the IP’s owner may not renew it with BF because of that. But I wouldn’t anticipate being able to arbitrarily terminate a license.

BF had Scripts written for S6, recording on two already done and then the CW series killed it when Freemantle sold the rights and BF had to shelve making it with immediate effect, losing what they'd put into the new series already and then the rights to even sell what they'd already made. You'd imagine that after that they've been more cautious in contractual terms to avoid that scenario happening again but if BF are the party asking for the rights to all the properties..the bargaining chips are much more in the court of the licence holders.

I imagine BF are very much in the position of beggars can't be choosers when it comes to negotiating license agreements.
I also imagine there is a clause in most of their agreements that allows the rightsholder to terminate at fairly short notice, without any compensation for unrecoverable costs incurred by BF. Not only to cover the scenario we are speculating on with DS, but to protect the rights holder against reputational damage if it emerged - and I am using ridiculously extreme examples only to make a point - that BF was using slave labour in their warehouse or Nick/Jason were carrying on like Harvey Weinstein, etc.
And I imagine BF have no option but to agree to such onerous conditions

The thing that may complicate matters is that the new series is going to be a sequel to the original which potentially will go against a lot of what BF have done. The new producers may not wish for a contradictory storyline being played out elsewhere.
