Indeed.
From experience, over here in North America, though, most people hear/see the name "Nev" and can only think of "Neve Campbell".
Even Neville Longbottom wouldn't come to mind for most people, because I don't think any HP character ever once shortened his name to "Nev" that I can recall.

Fair enough. Just hadn't ever heard "Nev" as a nickname for anything other than Neville before. If that's not it, then...some form of Steven, maybe, similar to the way that Edmund often gets shortened to "Ned"? Of course, he could be called anything from John to Zaphod Beeblebrox and prefer to go by Nev for whatever reason. None of my business, really, I just like etymology.

It IS short for Neville, which was a nickname he had but not his actual name.

So if my reckoning is correct she can only ever meet Peter Capaldi or any Doctor later than him. Or David Warner. Oh my giddy aunt I want this now.

I can't wait for this release. Missy was the best thing about the 12th Doctor era by far.

Looking forward to this even more having listened to The Monk’s latest appearance in Rise of the New Humans. Can’t wait to hear Missy and him spar!

This is going to be epic.
And it sounds as if it was more tongue in cheek and less... cold and creepy as the War Master.
I am really looking forward to this.

All I know is I now want a spin-off featuring DCI Missy Masters. She needs to meet DI Menzies and PC Andy. And the policeman from An Unearthly Child. I guess Yaz is a cop too but since the show seems to have forgotten that I will too.

To be fair, Graham's bus driving skills and Ryan's mechanic training (he was wasn't he? - I may have forgotten but if so hardly surprising) haven't had much of an airing either and, while I can't judge the realism or otherwise of the ongoing depiction of Ryan's dyspraxia, one mention in the finale was it since 'Kerblam!' by my reckoning. But I suppose Companions (by any tag) have (sadly) often tended to become more generic than they were first written.
Even more seriously for Yaz, the show seems to have forgotten her most of the time. Graham and Ryan are very real now imo with their shared family story; Yaz had one good and one outstanding episode and then...
(Wrong thread really, oh well.)

Graham's bus driver network helped them find Tim Shaw in the first episode, and in Rosa it gave him the idea of how to infiltrate the buses there. Ryan's hatred of his own job did play into his actions in Kerblam where he wanted to stick it to the bosses, and his video-game love played into Ghost Monument. Wheras Yaz - again - seems to be left out. What ep did Yaz actually have? You say two, I'd say none - she nominally had Punjab and Arachnids but in those eps we got to know her mum and her granny better than we have Yaz herself in 11 eps! I really wish we had this year with Ryan and Graham, say goodbye to them, then Yaz joins solo for S12. We're off topic here but to bring it a bit more on topic then - the first story here sounds like a story in The Missy Chronicles book (which is terrific and you should all read it if you like Missy, it's all over her timeline from her first days to her last) and I'm excited to see the differences. Funny that both BBC Books and BF in their first Missy releases focused on the sinister Mary Poppins aspect. Teddy Sparkles Must Die by the amazing Paul Magrs is the story in the Missy book that's based on that notion too. It's also recommended to any Iris fans as Teddy Sparkles himself is quite Panda-like.

Say goodbye to Ryan and Graham??!! Noooo! It's interesting though that the examples are from the first three episodes (all written/co-written by CC), and 'Kerblam!' (which did remember character details as I mentioned) and not from later in the season - the generic Companion tendency creeping in? Yes it's true that the Punjab story was Yaz' family story, but it was also a journey of discovery for her and both stories showed her strong family ties, contrasting with Ryan / Aaron. But her professional life was practically forgotten.
Thanks for the recommendation Davy, sounds fun! Oh yes I do like Missy and on topic I'm looking forward to five Missy episodes in two months (counting River 5.)
EDIT: I read the Kindle free sample (the start of James Goss' story) - definitely getting this at some point! I may well wait for the audiobook, hoping of course that Michelle Gomez performs it.
