This'll be the second time in the 3 volumes that the 10DAs have come out on my birthday Happy Birthday for tomorrow, hope the stories help make it a good day! Thanks very much! I'll be lucky to listen - still need to get up to speed on Dark Shadows!

Just finishing up the first episode, No Place, now. Great stuff! The Doctor/Donna ribbing is spot-on, and the story itself is suuuuper creepy! Minor thing: I actually spent a good chunk of this episode thinking that Wilf wasn't real or was possessed in some way, since he seemed to share no scenes at all with the Doctor/Donna/Sylvia. I was a little surprised that it turned out that wasn't the case....was Bernard Cribbins just not available to record with everyone else? An excellent start to this box set from Mr Goss!

One Mile Down....somewhat different reaction. I can't say I loved the story (though I didn't dislike it either, and I can already tell that it'll grow on me with each re-listen), but the world-building -- a combination of Jenny Colgan's writing and Howard Carter's sound design -- was lush. It was so, so rich, it felt like really being there. Absolutely loved that.

I loved No Place. It’s suspenseful and intimate, with just a cast of six. The framing device of the TV show works well and allows the scenes to just consist of conversations in different rooms around the house, building up the two guest characters and allowing us to spend time with our old favourites; Doctor, Donna, Wilf and Sylvia.
David and Catherine slip back into their roles effortlessly and sell the marriage dynamic they have. It could’ve been very forced and not at all funny with another Doctor and companion pairing. Jacqueline is wonderful as Sylvia and Bernard Cribbins is the definition of a national treasure, isn’t he? Every line he says is beautiful. It’s a shame that he doesn’t actually seem to spend much time with the other three, instead being put with the two supporting characters instead.
It’s a small thing, but I loved the mention of the bees. That brought me back to 2008!
I think if I had another slight criticism, it would be the ending feels a little rushed, which doesn’t really impact the story much, but seems at odds with the nice slow buildup the story takes. Another point is the Doctor mentioning that money isn’t everything to Sylvia seems strange given what he does for her, Donna and Wilf in The End of Time!
Great stuff.

I noticed that too. He was at the recording with everyone else. The DWM preview of the set confirms that, as Catherine pops out to get Bernard from his taxi and into the studio. The cast were all overjoyed to have a proper reunion for the first time since 2009.

Still, wonderful to have the whole gang together again The only other thing I can think of was that it wasn’t planned to have Wilf in originally. David Richardson told RTD they were bringing back Sylvia again and he mentioned they should try and get Bernard on board. There’s no confirmation of whether the script had already been done at that point or not, though. But as you say, it was lovely to have them together again and they do have scenes together when it’s the six characters. They just don’t have any two handers between Wilf and the other three, sadly.

No Place: I needed more Wilf but just brilliant! Scary, touching, moody, just absolutely wonderful.
Onto One Mile Down and I already got a chuckle out of the Crocs joke

And done. The Creeping Death was another good story! In all, a terrific third entry into this range!

Well that was rather good wasn't it! Creeping Death was Excellent perfect marriage of Cast and Story No Place was Brilliant Wilf! One Mile Down Donna's a bit too peevish at the start of this for my liking and the character of Garth is as subtle as a brick, but once again Nick Briggs brings another dimension to the Judoon and the world building and action pacing is very good Regards mark687
