Since I've fully taken the plunge into Dark Shadows, I've decided to listen to a Dark Shadows audio every day in October. The first weeks schedule will be in the next post. I am super excited to share my thought for the releases I listen to!

So doing it in release order?Or have you other plans lol🤔 I was playing Bloodlust to one of my Maltese friends and hopefully now he will become a BF buyer he enjoyed what he heard especially since they all have these houses that are under construction and they need something other than music while they get work done and i was telling them i use audio drama to make the tasks i do more enjoyable.

Day One - The Reflected Man
A wonderful story that was read so delightfully by Lisa Richards. This is my first experience with Sabrina and her story, but everything I needed to know was inside this 30 minute nugget and was still able to make me have the feels during the last scene. It also gets points for taking the concept of a man hiding in the reflections and taking it from being a plain ghost story into a tragic but ultimately happy love story. Alan Roland is a great writer, has he written anything else for Dark Shadows?

The Reflected Man is a lovely story. For fans of the original series, it sort is the farewell for a character and actor who left suddenly. Plus Sabrina has certainly had enough to deal with and it is refreshing when characters, whether normally or paranormally, get to reflect back and work through things. These smaller audios allow for very intimate stories, which soap operas would certainly have touched on (dragging out for week's of episodes or rushing through to move characters forward). I believe they offer a nice balance from the larger form collaborative audios.

Day 2: The Girl Beneath The Water
I thought that I was going to be going into something less heartbreaking than The Reflected Man but I ended up starting to cry at the end of the episode. So far, the strength of these stories are that they are very much steeped in the lore of Dark Shadows, but everything I need to know is there and set up well enough that even a newbie like me can understand the pathos of Maggie and Quentin. Exquisite!

Unfortunately my life went haywire in a good way, but that did prevent me from writing up my listens for the last couple of days so they are coming in a couple of minutes.

Day 3 - Bloodlust
That's right, I listened to it all in one sitting and it was marvellous. I'll say very little because I want everyone to go into this as blind as possible but in three words it is magical, horrifying and sexy!

Day 4 - Last Orders at the Blue Whale
A very interesting story to be heard read by Matthew Waterhouse and written by Rob Morris! I loved meeting Harry Johnson and wouldn't mind further adventures with him. One thing about the story was the utter poetry to it, accentuated by the lovely voice of Mr. Waterhouse's, The best short story I've heard so far.

Day 5 - Old Acquaintance
I'm conflicted on this one. On one hand, I love the reading from David Selby and the words written by Matthew Waterhouse, but I wasn't completely sold on the story or the sound design. A missed opportunity I think.

Day 6 - Panic
Loved both the framing story and the tale within it. So far David Selby is turning out to be the best of all the actors in Dark Shadows and I really want to hear more of Lela and Susan Sullivan. If this is the quality of the dramatic readings then I am very excited indeed.

Yes i truly love this Story and a definite fan of Lela we know it doesn’t end happily for their relationship as its mentioned briefly in Maggie and Quentin .But am eager for more of Lela

Day 7 - The Sand that Speaks His Name
That was a wondrous tale. Maggie and Quentin are great together and Mathais/Tommy were an amazing guest character that I wouldn't mind having a future set with Matthais and Quentin in the 30's. And that tease at the end. Very excited!

Day 8 - The Curse of ShurafaThis might be the best narrated tale in Dark Shadows so far. The tale was so engrossing and Andrew Collins was an amazing narrator and Scott Haran played a lovely bit of levity in this dark tale. The ending was so tantalizing as well and the constant dropping of the word Bloodline(s) was interesting to say the least. Great job Rob Morris!

Day 9 - The Missing Reel
Very good. Loved the way that is brings Quentin to Hollywood and it starts of as a "fun" romp and turns into quite the tragedy. I also see that there aren't anymore short story readings announced, which is a shame as I have like or loved all of the ones I've heard so far.

There may be none at the moment but given they now have a pretty good lot of audios coming up I think that may alsO be rectified. Dark Shadows was a wonderful surprise and story telling wise is IMO one of the best BF ranges

Really landed on my feat with this one. Great cast, great script editor, and then great sound design by Davy. And then a cover I just adore from Alistair. And a cameo by Grayson Hall herself. You can't ask for more than that.
