Overall I would give this episode a 7/10. I was disappointed in the villain but overall I was fairly satisfied. I got a lot of Third Doctor vibes from Thirteen. I like that.

Weak point was the unveiling of the Tooth Fairy. At least he did not wear his conquests like Dalek Sec (ooh err). That's something I forgot to discuss earlier: if this had been a Moffat-era episode, he probably would've tried to Tim Shaw into the actual tooth fairy mythology and have the Doctor or one of the team make penny under pillow jokes and whatnot. (Tim Shaw voice): Bah! Tzim-Sha of the Stenza does not pay for his trophies, he takes them. :-) Tim is one of the things I really liked about the episode. I though the acting was excellent, I got every bit as weirded out as I'm going to get for being too old to forget it's an actor in costume. :-)

I'd be thrilled to get any kind of a companion that isn't from contemporary Earth. I get that the thought process is that having someone from "now" as the companion gives the audience someone to whom they can relate, but... really? I think the audience deserves more credit than needing an in-story stand-in to understand the show. Did people have a hard time relating to Steven, Jamie, Vicki, Leela, Nyssa, and all the others? If you don't want to give us an alien companion to start with, let us have someone from the 1940s or the 1890s or the 22nd century at the very least. If there is a bias in the executives towards contemporary companions, a solution could be to add a lateral companion later on in the Series like they did with Captain Jack. And most people did like Jack if I recall. Certainly enough to give him his own spin-off series. Funny thing is that Sarah Jane, going purely by evidence on television, could be considered a non-contemporary companion on a technicality. Although its broadcast in 1975, Pyramids of Mars has her claim to be from 1980, about five years into the programme's future. *shrugs* Didn't seem to do the viewers at home any harm. I can understand why it might not be done for budgetary or logistics reasons, but there's so much you can do with a companion out of time. The Five/Peri/Erimem trio revelled in this culture clash for stories like The Council of Nicaeca or Son of the Dragon.

I also admit I have never seen Torchwood, for the simple reason his characterization in Who has turned me off and since I heard that some Torchwood episodes have the same schoolyard humour ("aliens f***ed into submission") I was never really tempted...

Yes seems like schoolboy humour from Moffat (love Moffat) hated Jack character. Not a fan of characters that cannot die either.Torchwood also was also one secret organisation too far for me.good actors though but just boring to myself.I preferred Barrowman in Arrow

TV Torchwood and BF torchwood are two different animals,BF have the habit of turning "A sow's ear"into "A silk purse"they have done it time and time again!Although! these two audio's are no longer at pre-order price.Maybe wait for a sale

Thank you for the recommendation. I do not doubt Big Finish that they have done a great job! It just never appeared on my interest radar so far. I will keep it in mind when a sale is on.

Torchwood Series 1 is mixed but has one or two great elements and stories. Series 2 is much better. Series 3 (Children Of Earth) is the best Who spinoff ever. Series 4 (Miracle Day) is a great 5 eps stretched to 10.
On audio there's some AMAZING Torchwood. Fall To Earth, TORCHWOOD_CASCADE_CDRIP.TOR, Zone 10, One Rule. Happily, the best audio TW is the cheaper single disc range not the specials sets or the Series 5 Aliens Among Us so it won't cost much to dip it and get some good stuff tried out.

Torchwood was pathetic on telly. But I enjoy the audio.
I do NOT want to see any inclusion of Torchwood in the new Doctor Who.

Also, just in case you've missed it, social media loves Salad Man.
Here's what a reddit user said on a BF set: Salad Man: A twelve parts series featuring cameos from Colin Baker, Matthew Waterhouse and Paul McGann, now with archival footage and a score by Murray Gold. Join the Kebab King on his journey to bring fibre to the Doctor's greatest foes. Nicholas Briggs returns as the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Ice Warriors, the Great Intelligence, the Adipose and thatevil plastic chair that ate people.
£39.00 on amazon.

Why are they calling him salad man when clearly he was eating a donner kebab? It's this lack of attention to detail that makes social media so dangerous! The poor man was only trying to get rid of the awful salad you get in kebab shops.
He's kebab man.

Salad from his kebab! We don't call Man With Chips Man With Salt And Vinegar! I'm angry about this and have written to Charlotte Moore, Piers Wenger and Chris Chibnall. Edit: I might allow "Salad Hating Man" or "Man Without Salad". Besides, salad hating man was horrible - lovable facetiming grandad, he deserves a prequel box. Maybe he worked at TW1 with Ianto and Yyvonne or he's a retired UNIT soldier who worked with Klein?

Only if you want to watch some competitive morris dancing? In fairness....a donner pizza is glorious. He should have had one of those - they dont bother putting salad on them.
