First, I asked some questions cause I don't know the answer. You didn't answer them I didn't watch the episode, which has nothing to do with what I was asking.

I Just wrote a Post explaining the probable cause for the low AI Figure
Have more Overseas TV Markets bought the show this year = again Google Search The BBC Expo from earlier this year.
Lastly as I said you Twisted one bit of information to match your low opinion on something you've not even watched

Yes, you are asking questions, but you don't like any positive responses you get and try to twist everything to suit your own agenda. So basically, just trolling.
Why don't you just watch the episode and come back and tell us what you didn't like about it based on what you actually saw?

No, thanks. I don't want to watch the episode. Can't I ask questions about ratings, AI, merchandise etc without watching the episode? I'm not criticizing the actors or story.

You can ask questions and comment, as long as you do it respectfully.
We don't know yet if this season of the show will be a commercial success. So far, it's off to a good start.
And it doesn't really matter if the viewers are returning viewers or first time viewers, in terms of judging the success of the show. If people stick with the show, it will continue. If enough people stop watching so that the show can no longer be considered a success, it would be cancelled, just as happens to most TV shows eventually. But I'm hoping Doctor Who will continue.

OK one try: my point about ratings in the Troughton era was this.
His first story had a low AI, so, people didn't like it as much as the Hartnell stories (they apparently said). So surely some of them should have stopped watching? Except they apparently didn't, because the next 'sci-fi' story had as many viewers and about the same AI.
And the viewers in their collective wisdom said that 'The Underwater Menace' was every bit as good as 'The Power of the Daleks'. Which is one of many examples of why I wouldn't bother much about AI.
Meanwhile, ratings held up and even increased, so people presumably decided that they did like the new Doctor after all, after they had given him a chance.
Of course, a few diehards probably refused to watch and so never knew they were missing a genius at work. I wonder what they did instead, back then before there was social media?

But hey, this female Doctor thing will never work. People are sick of having PC garbage rammed down their throats. This reminds me that, on Gallifrey Base, when Jodie Whittaker was announced, another member posted to me directly that "everyone" was sick of "PC-ness".
I apologized for shoving my PC-ness down his throat.
Begged forgiveness for having rubbed him the wrong way.
I mean, we have to admit, this issue of Jodie Whittaker's PC-ness does seem to be central to the controversy.

Honestly, why care about ratings or AI? As long as they're high enough that the show doesn't get cancelled, why does it matter? Battlefield has the worst ratings of all of Doctor Who and I love it more than End of Time, which got spectacular ratings.

Funny, I had exactly the same experience from a group on social media. For some reason, this nearly has died down now though and I have stopped apologizing...
quite the opposite, I actually made a slight remark on social media last week (as an experiment) and instead of the Internet going up in flames (as expected) it kind of fizzled only because there were only a couple of trolls who quickly crawled back under their bridges for being extremely outnumbered.... Playing the devils advocate, I can see where the accusations of PC-ness are coming from, but for some reason suddenly people do not mind so much anymore (this surprised me).

It’s not about PC ness for me I just prefer my Doctor male am not a mysoginist,am not a woman hater. The character for me has always been male. When am watching it and I am watching it because I want Who to continue I am slightly irritated by the way they took an essentially male character and then decided it was a female instead of taking someone like a strong female Character like Romana and give her her own show.I found the change not progressive at all i thought it was actually Ill serving females. But hey it’s done, nowt I can do about it.But it has hindered my enjoyment of the show. Infact this article best actually sums up my feelings.(written by a woman but even if it was written by a man I would be in agreement) www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/people/a-female-doctor-who-is-not-progress-1.3159106

I agree with you, the forcing of females into positions (real life and fictional) and prefering females if a equally competent male is available, is NOT helping so called "feminism" or gender equality at all. People should be chosen by their abilities, not for their gender (independent if male or female).
This annoys me no end.
So yes, I did see where the PC accusations are coming from.
On the other hand, I did not really have a problem with the Doctor at all, because I can see it for what it is- just a TV show. I did not mind and just was curious where they were going with it.

I agree yes it’s just a show but it’s also a cash cow. I just think women would have been better served by creating a strong female character in their own right and developing its uniqueness as they have done with River and to be honest Romana in Gallifrey.I can just basically with fiction edit out the bits I do not like and form a narrative that works for me.Such as Jodie has hijacked the Doctors body😂I love things like that with Doctor Who that’s why chronology never bothers me as it’s a show that rewrites all the time...and I can rewrite too.

Battlefield has the worst ratings of all of Doctor Who and I love it more than End of Time, which got spectacular ratings. While normally I wouldn't care much either, you have to remember the context: on top of the steady decline during Capaldi's time, and that these numbers are happening in a post Netflix-era, 'that side' spent months shrieking about how Jodie would die in the ratings, the show would be liked by no one and it'd be 1989 all over again. Now that twice in a row they've been proven that no, there is an interest in Jodie, the goal posts are changing to 'oh well, it's just hype, it's just hype, it'll crash next week (and if Rosa, airing right in the middle of Black History Month, holds or even grows just a smidge) they'll keep kicking it down the road.
You know it's struck where now people are claiming that the figures are the British AND American ratings combined. So, none of them know how BARB works...

Also as davy kindly pointed out to me awhile back, even if what this really accomplishes regarding a female Doctor might be arguable, what it might accomplish for female performers might really be admirable. The Doctor might not really have broken through a glass ceiling, but I think Jodie may have, and I can't help but want to cheer for that in spite of The Doctor's needless gender reassignment. :-) I love things like that with Doctor Who that’s why chronology never bothers me as it’s a show that rewrites all the time...and I can rewrite too. That's a lot of what makes The Doctor stand out as truer and more palatable to me (even if I were skeptical about the movations for casting a woman) than a lot of fictional heroes, "politically corrected" or otherwise. Doctor Who didn't box itself in chronologically as a lot of franchises have done. Bruce Wayne as originally conceived would have to be at least 100 now so of course Batman is eligible to be rebooted to death (and most of the Marvel Universe must not be far behind) and I cannot bear to watch, but Doctor Who has had the flexibility to remain pleasingly true to itself. Doctor Who didn't try to tell us that the Ninth Doctor was the first one or that everything that came before is irrelevant and that all our fond memories are rubbish. I'm not only extremely grateful, I'm actually much less suspicious about the motivations for a female Doctor because of it than I could have been. Doctor Who has to be about the last thing that has to do that out of necessity - and yes, that's another wonderful thing about it is that it's rich enough of a universe that it seems easy to rewrite it to your own liking if need be, just grab whatever's handiest - "Oops, that whole season must have been a Time Burp from the Time War" - that'll work. :-)

Look at one of the other geeky shows- I am also a X-phile and in the latest season of the X-files, Gillan Anderson earned much less than David Duchovny- although Mulder and Scully only work as a team. You cannot really have one without the other (they tried and failed). So Anderson said if she cannot get the same amount of money Duchovny gets, she is out. So yeah, series was cancelled after the 2 season come-back. I was a bit sad about that, but honestly, good on her.
She is doing equal work, her character is equally important and loved, why should she not get the same pay?
The same is also true for other professions and even my own line of work!!!
So every bit of progress is welcome.
