We did have one banned member, Budnp, tell us overnights would go down to 1 million with Jodie's casting. We'll see about that one - it's early days. I guess with predicting the sky is falling, you can always say "...I meant tomorrow" ad infinitum till it actually does. You banned him because he could be right? Yes. I banned him. It's a thing I can do. Can you name any other banned members for a bonus point?

Chris Evans let a bit of a spoiler go for this ep on his radio show with Jodie present. I won't repeat it but the Mirror quote the infamous "BBC Insider" as being none too happy.

One thing I've enjoyed this week has been watching people switch from "No one will watch it" to "Of course, the first episode was always going to get high ratings" and from "The publicity is terrible and off-putting" to "They only watched because of the publicity" with no sense of shame. I fully expect them to declare the perfectly normal drop-off in viewers to its regular level for this episode to be some sort of victory. I bet that even after the drop they'll still be better then most regular episodes from the past few years, though. We did have one banned member, Budnp, tell us overnights would go down to 1 million with Jodie's casting. We'll see about that one - it's early days. I guess with predicting the sky is falling, you can always say "...I meant tomorrow" ad infinitum till it actually does. I don't remember banning him. I think he deleted himself. He's not on the list of banned members that moderators and admins can see.

I wish some other members would get banned.

I guess with predicting the sky is falling, you can always say "...I meant tomorrow" ad infinitum till it actually does. Did he end up getting banned? Anyway, yeah he was the one who refused to accept the idea that a lot of people would tune into it, wasn't he? *Edit* And thanks to Ela, no I guess he didn't.
I have a couple of online acquaintances who have been going after the casting since it was announced, going after Chibnall and who were predicting doom for the show. They have all been really quiet about the show since last week. Funny thing that. As noted in another thread, with the episodes moving forward we will get a better idea of how much of the audience that tuned in will be sticking around.

This is just my opinion-I was actually bored after 15 minutes ,I was bored with the constant sonic screw driver and was bored by the I lost my wife comment(so did I) which was a Moffatism,The new Tardis left me unimpressed lit up and the two claim the prize is so “now “ were it would be unfortunate for someone to actually win and leave someone as a loser.Sorry.Hey at least I watched it.Hopefully next week will move me forwards

But the scenery was beautiful and the spaceship effects excellent.

Well that maintained the great performance chemistry, (I also love how easy Jodie is with the in phrasing) light on plot again, but who cares the Old Girl is back!
The full Theme Music I enjoyed, but did the visuals remind anyone else of the Pertwee Tester Titles?

A planet called Desolation, killer water, a journey through the sewers and the facing of fears... Are we sure this one wasn't written by Terry Nation?

It was fine. I liked it enough. I think a lot of the episodes following the new Doctor episodes suffer from having to follow on from such a big episode but this was enjoyable enough.
Though, I have to say, after seeing it in action, I’m still not sold on the new TARDIS interior. But saying that, I absolutely loved Capaldi’s, and it was one of my favourite interiors, so it’s hard to follow that one.

The pacing was all over the place for me. Rubbish robots, too much sonic and heavily signposted Chekov’s Gun with the cigar.

That was alright. Dialogue seemed a bit clunky at times and plot again quite light, but the character interactions were solid. The new TARDIS is alright, I do wish it was a bit more lit though.

The one point where i felt Jodie commanded was the don’t touch the Tardis control moment

Why isn’t there a poll for this one?

That was at the back of my mind, thinking 'Chris is clearly nodding to someone, but who?' It's a bit like somewhere between the darker 60s Dalek stuff and then things like Survivors.

Why isn’t there a poll for this one? Because people couldn't behave themselves, and because we don't normally do polls for NuWho episodes in these threads.

I didn't get to be surprised by who was playing the Doctor, but I managed to make it this far without seeing the new TARDIS. Looks pretty cool. Nice use of the ol' you've redecorated bit.
Good episode overall. The cinematography is very pretty. They really know how to use light in a dramatic way. Those creepy cloth creatures were probably the coolest part. Seems like there's another arc on the horizon.
The guest characters were good, but I'm really liking the dialogue and interaction between the mains. Feels natural and fun. Yaz seems a little under-played so far but I'm sure she'll get more focus in other episodes.

There was the trying to add something dark and mysterious to the Doctors past?
