A rare misfire, at least lately. It gets a "meh" from me. Not even a meh from me, this was crap. Heh!
But then where does The Dark Husband or perhaps The Power of Three go?
(I know, I know....a lot is down to taste).

I have no idea why I'm thinking you do, but is this a stand alone or do you require some previous knowledge? I've only got one leg on the treadmill where the 7th Doctor is concerned.

i like it and this bit at the end {Spoiler} DOCTOR: Friends talk to one another, they don't come up with grand, complicated schemes – however well-intentioned – and then just drag others along without telling them.
ACE: I can't believe you just said that.
DOCTOR: Ah.
ACE: I mean... I agree, but... coming from you?
DOCTOR: Well...

It's no great pleasure to say I haven't been able to get through this one. With such a lot of Big Finish product being released, it is a risk worth taking to give up on a story that isn't pushing the right buttons for you. Possibly my expectations were too high - I love this TARDIS team-up. They are so good, each character has strong personalities that work really well together, or would do if given the chance. Here, Ace gives up on Mel instantly when it appears she and the Doctor have been betrayed, which just doesn't ring true. The characters are played as well as always - in fact better, on occasions (McCoy's quirkiness is an endless delight). And Toby Longworth is terrific as Dogbolter. Coming from Guy Adams, who can be an excellent writer, the story is a misfire for me. There's comedy music, the blight of any release, any time someone does something that isn't particularly comedic, little tension, and despite the cast, no great temptation to invest in anything really.
This trilogy started off brilliantly with the unusual Red Planets; The Dispossessed built up really well but was let down a little by a disappointing ending and this ... well, it joins The Lure of the Nomad as a story I've been unable, or unwilling, to finish (yet) and I'm sorry to have to say that.

The trouble is the Arc ended up not having a great pay off for how long it went on for.

I ended up really quite enjoying this one. I think the two installments that came before were in a different weight class but I still liked it. It was both dark & humorous.

I kind of agree with the gist of what most people seem to be saying. It wasn't a bad story, but a lighter, humorous story feels a bit insubstantial as the ending of a plot arc.

For me to not finish a story is wrong 1) because you cannot give a fair view on the story 2) if I can finish MR 110 The Boy That Time Forgot I can finish anything

I am happy I did a re-listen to this. I liked it much better the second time around. You just have to accept that it is a comedy, complete with comedy soundtrack (which I found tedious the first time round and I can understand people hating it). But that out of the way, I enjoyed it as a fun romp and it did indeed cheer me up after listening to all the dark and gritty War Doctor stories.

Nice review. I enjoyed this one, overall. Liked the interplay of characters and the unraveling of the mystery of why Mel behaved the way she did. And of course, I love hearing Narvin, so that was a plus.

I found this to be a largely enjoyable slice of quirky fun, all in all. Very lightweight, sure, but no less for it. And I very much enjoyed the return of Dogbolter.
My only real issues here was the ineptness/stupidity of Mel's plan, and just how easily her betrayal was forgiven at the end. Dramatically, I think it would have been far more interesting if it wasn't really forgiven and the intention at the end was to take Mel home, leaving a bit of unease and dramatic tension to bounce off of for the next trilogy and approach the inter-relationships of the three in a different way or from a different perspective. Alas, they just hit the reset button again instead, which to me just felt too easy and an opportunity lost.
