I don’t think Bonnie actually views herself as entirely identical to Petronella. At least there’s a lot about them that’s very much the same and causing issues for them both, but Bonnie seems to cling very much to her Zygon heritage and seems more callous than Petronella. Not to mention there were a few lines that hinted that they don’t share the same view on a lot of things, like how Bonnie doesn’t share Petronella’s feelings for Josh. I reckon the first Zygon Osgood was probably exactly the same as Osgood though. Bonnie seems as though “Osgood” is more her job description than her identity. That's a good point - she's the current Zygon liason officer to UNIT rather than personally linked with Osgood and as you say the differences do gradually show through. But that does make it more strange that Kate of all people claims she can't tell any difference between them - I thought the story contradicted itself over that.
Kate's the second smartest person in UNIT only after Osgood herself, she's known the real Osgood for a long time and I'm sure she'd be able to spot the smallest difference. Maybe she was being diplomatic to keep up the human side of the peace deal?

Just listened to 1.3, the Paternoster Gang episode. There’s much that I liked, especially the Vastra/Jenny combo and hearing Strax too, though I don’t think he interacted with the other two as much as I’d like. I also liked that the story started with them actively pursuing a case, and didn’t mess around with set up. However I found the overall plot of this story unsatisfying for me. It also seemed strangely balanced, in that the first half rattled along, whereas for me the second half was more laboured. I did like that the female character was the main baddie, and why [/span] but it seemed to take ages to get to that rather predicable result. So tentative thumbs up, but it hasn’t made me pre-order the Paternoster Gang series like expected. I’m still somewhat on the edge re that, and with a huge backlog of Jago & Litefoot I’m not committed to preordering it. But may do yet.

Finished the set with the end of Narcissus this morning. Haven't listened to the BTS yet. Overall, it was a fun set with some nice stories.
The Paternoster Gang one was a bit confusing at times. It was hard to figure out just what happened with Madame Vastra's battle near the end. Maybe they just made it vague and we only know that she emerged victorious. I guess it was the alien essence drink that was turning some of them into werewolves temporarily (irrespective of the source) and there wasn't a real werewolf in the bunch.
Just thinking right now, it is a bit weird that three of them all has a parasitic theme to them. In The Big Blue Book, they were using the prisoners as power sources for the ship. In Inside Every Warrior the alien essences were used to power up rich people. In Narcissus the kidnapped daters' were being used to power up a ship (though it was vague if there was any real objective beyond that).

Just started listening to the BTS and that reminded me that the princesses were kidnapped. So all 4 stories had kidnapping as a major plot point.

Listened to Emancipation yesterday. Very good indeed. One niggle: The two females trying to sort things out on their own without the (male) doctor end up inadvertently causing a very bloody civil war i.e. they arguably make a bit of a mess of it without a man in charge. Is this really the message BF want to be sending out on a release to celebrate International women's day?

You know you were listening to a story where River Song and Leela of the Sevateem were the main characters right? {Spoiler} I’d be concerned if the two of them getting together didn’t result in a very bloody civil war...

My take on The Eighth of March has landed at CultBox - despite some repetition in ideas, more than just theme I'd suggest, I rather enjoyed these. The Paternoster Gang adventure bodes well for a continuation of J&L style adventures, plus Leela & River make for an interesting combination too.

Well I thought the set was good without ever getting great, which by Big Finish’s standard is a little disappointing.
The episode I was most looking forward to listening to was probably my least favourite story in the set. Now perhaps that is down to my own high expectations, but I found The Paternoster Gang adventure muddled with an over reliance on brute force rather than intelligence from the two female leads. I was wanting to hear Madam Vastra as the great detective as I could really do with her explaining the plot and what was going on in the later half.
However it was a joy to hear the characters together on audio and the Heritage series had already been pre-ordered in full and despite my issues with this particular story I am still looking forward to hearing more.

I’ve mixed views about this set, having just finished listening to it.
On the one hand it was a delight to have a female focused release, with lots of interesting characters. But I found many of the stories disappointing, whether a lack of a character’s presence or more frequently a muddled plot.
But I did really like to hear River and Leela together. And I think that three of the stories at least acted as useful samplers for their respective spin off series. I was particularly encouraged to follow on and check out the UNIT series.
I really do hope Big Finish have a long term legacy from this behind the scenes, with a much more varied mix of writers and directors. Especially the former.

I finally got around to listening to this, after all this time. Haven't had a lot of BF listening time in recent months.
Really enjoyed it overall.
I love the Paternoster Gang.
And River and Leela is a team-up that needs to happen again.
