MADE:
- Did some emailing with my absolute science idol from when I was in school. I actually skipped school several times to go to town to listen to his lectures. He is the leading expert in ant research, and has been for the past 30 years, I got all his books and I am still very excited. Since I am giving several lectures myself this year on Ant Keeping and Ant Health (I am even giving a lecture at the first Invertebrate Medicine Conference in the UK this year!) I had asked my idol if I could use some of his amazing pictures in my lectures. It took him 10 mins to answer, and he said yes, and we even got a little conversation going.
How amazing is that? It's for moments like this I love DU! For the honour of the forum, I hope you will work in at least one oblique reference to 'The Web Planet'.
Solitary bees and dragonflies are more my line, not that I have expert knowledge but I do enjoy making the garden a good home for them. Various species have moved in so I must be doing something right!

Haha, that comment made my day. I know that what I do is totally niche and random. However, for some strange reason, a lot of people (certainly more than I had ever expected) are interested in what I have to say about ants. The first lecture I gave the room was packed! And the UK vets actually INVITED me and are going to pay for my accommodation! I am very happy about this, I got nothing but support and welcoming voices for this topic, wherever I go, and whoever I ask. This is a stark contrast to what is going on at work, where I feel not so welcome at the moment.
However, I will even give one of my lectures at work (some colleagues asked if I wanted to also present my conference lecture for them). I had asked the big boss if she will sponsor for "Pizza and Talk Night" and she said yes. So I will give my lecture for a select few of 25 people (we have around 600 staff right now) and the pizza will be paid by the big boss. I am organizing everything else.
So even work has a silver lining.

So the "Updated" version of An Adventure in Space and Time has been removed from iplayer with no warning
This is why Physical Media is vitally important
atleast we still have the original version on Dvd and Bluray with Matt Smith

100%. If you don't have your own local copy of something (disk or DL), you don't own it.
This goes for any 'restricted' DLs too. If you can't back it up your DL and play it without an online service/code/special app etc., it's not yours regardless of what you paid for access.

Hence/Ergo .. Physical copies are vital. I don't care that I am paying more.

It was always on the standard month after broadcast availability, so not sure why people are surprised. Shame it couldn’t be a permanent addition to the Who catalogue though.

The Long Song has actually been playing since 2001... So presumably in 2640 the sun will come to life and eat us.

Social club at work has organised for an ice cream truck to be outside in the back of the building - proper massive 2 scoop ice cream with a kit-kat stick coming up in 4 hours time. Received my 3 Awards this morning at our monthly Aust wide online site meeting. That's 20 specific awards, 1 X 5 year "Appreciation of Service" and a Tier 2 formalised Accreditation. We moved to a new office in the massive building, we are like goldfish in a bowl they won't properly frost the glass, so I have built up my "wall of awesome" with all the awards because I don't like being stared at like Nemo LOLZ . A couple people here have been sent a pic of my wall . My wall is nothing compared to some who have been here 10-20+ years.

At least BF allows full downloads. I wouldn't want to lease these episodes from them. Then again, they aren't in it to get rich...

In 30 mins time we are off for "A Night With Henry Winkler" aka Arthur Fonzarelli/The Fonz ! AAAAYYYYYYYYYY WHOA! Reading is cool ! Glasses are cool ! Wow. What an inspiration Henry is.. Stories from his childhood- he is a German Jew, only his 2 parents survived leaving..
Severely dyslexic on the deepest end, both parents were very learned professors from University etc - was told (in German) he was a "dumb dog" every day for 22 years...
So severely dyslexic and sick and tired of being told he was a "dumb dog"... he has written 40 childrens books..
He said the most amazing thing to happen was an 11 year old non-verbal autistic girl walked up to him once in the late 70's and said "Fonzie!"... and never spoken again. He was visibly moved when telling the stories of all the good emotional fortune he has had from this role, being a role model.
I got his autograph too- Bucket List ticked.............

"Is it a possible serious health-problem, or are the completely random and suspicious black spots that have appeared on three of my toes because of my shoes rubbing?..."
Me, completely useless? The jury's deliberating...

Hope everything will be okay It's all good, 'seems to be some transference from my shoe (somehow) and has mostly come off. I once had to walk through some flood water to get home and my feet turned GREEN!
After a brief 'have I picked up Sea Devil DNA' moment I realised the bottom of my socks were also now green and the insoles of my shoes were now only a very pale shade of their former green selves. The good news was that after scrubbing, washing and drying, my feet, the socks and even the shoes were as good as new. I remain to this day 0% Earth Reptile and 100% planet-usurping Ape!
