'You're through to MegaCouldn'tGiveadamn Corp / AbandonHopeGovtDept customer helpline. Your call is important to us. To help us improve our service, at the end of this call I'm here to stop you having, would you like to answer a few quick questions? It'll only take a minute.' 'No.' 'OK. All our lines are very busy at the moment, even though it's only 5 seconds since you called before and I told you our lines hadn't opened yet. Did you know you can get all the information you need on our website? Would you like me to send you a text with the link so you can access our website for all the information you need, instead of talking to an actual person we have to pay?' 'No.' 'OK. In a few words, so I can direct your call to the most appropriate person if I really have to and assuming I can't put you off before then, please tell me why you are calling today.' (Any reply at all)
'I'm sorry, I didn't understand that. Did you know you can get all the information you need on our website and the longer I can keep waffling at you the more likely you are to hang up and stop taking our time by expecting actual service? Would you like me to send you a text with the link so you can access our website for all the information you need and yes I did say that before but the longer I go on for, the more likely you are to blow a fuse and hang up.' 'No.' 'OK. So you're one of those persistent b******s who I can't easily fob off, but I'm not beaten yet. If you really need to deal with a human being, why not click the 'chat' icon on our website and that way we can waste our time helping you via text only and that way you won't be able to tell we've sacked most of our local workers who expect pay and rights and all that rubbish and outsourced everything to ZaroffCorp on Atlantis where fish-people do it for next to nothing?' 'No.' 'Fine. I really hate humans like you who just stay calm and keep saying "No" no matter how long I go on for. At this point I'm almost out of options and will have to connect you to someone you can talk to. But before I do that, would you like some toast?'
(Yes, that was my rant for the day! And yes, I have been in one too many call queues recently. And no (Red Dwarf reference), I don't want any toast... )

Thanks very much for explaining all that, it's great seeing how some characters I enjoyed about 50 years ago are still going strong! Disappointed they changed the colour of Bob's chalk though, what is the world coming to!
I've definitely got some of the old paperbacks - ( somewhere, next to 'The Tenth Planet Episode 4' and the complete film print of 'Marco Polo' for all I know, I've not been that deep into the archives/junk for many years ) but they weren't first editions or the later and no doubt rarer titles so probably not worth digging them out.
This has been a trip down memory lane to the Jones' Junkyard I never expected. The fun that DU brings!
I have just restarted #24 "The Mystery Of Death Trap Mine".. It's easily been over 35 years since I last read it!
Also :
Read by an Aussie guy (not me LOLZ)
Oh that's fun, thanks for the link - I see he's read five of the early ones so far. It'll be fun to see how much of them I remember; quite a lot I expect, I read them several times each back in the day.

Been job hunting this week with the goal of relocating and it's been rough. Sending application after application these past few days has left me feeling more than a little overwhelmed and unsure of myself. That on top of the stress of the lawmakers in my state getting ready to pass horrible bills aiming to criminalize my existence, it can feel as though the walls are closing in on me lately. So that definitely hasn't been making my day lately.

I'm safe enough because I can pass myself off as a Karen, and currently have a decent enough job, but I absolutely want out and its so hard.
I'm really hoping this next election brings about some real change and cracks some of the local party's armor at least.
I've been hunting government employment sties for states I'm interested in moving to, but most are so expensive to live in.
Delaware seems like the cheapest without being too insane right now....

I'm trying to remain hopeful about this next election, but it's hard and there is no real opposition party where I live either, despite how awful things have been for everyone. The last "opposition" candidate all but licked their boots in the only debate I ever saw. I couldn't even make myself watch more than a few minutes of it. I'll have to look into Delaware. I did put in an application for a job near that state and generally that whole cluster seems to be very safe.

Oklahoma's governor is in a competition with Texas and Florida lately for who can be the cruelest. I genuinely can't even travel to Florida anymore because I could be arrested for going to the restroom - who knows how bad it'd be if I tried to DRIVE in that state.

Fortunately FL has term limits and according to people I know who live there, they expect none of those laws to stay on the books come 2025... not the least of which because such laws cost Disney money.
I'm in Tennessee and outside of the big cities there is no true opposition party. It's not an exaggeration when I say most of the state level government is openly run by the KKK. Fortunately I'm in driving distance of my home state GA. Sure we got coo-coo for coco puffs Greene and that cheat Kemp in office but the rest of the state is at least a swing state now.
I'm hoping to move back there if I can't find work else where.

It's been bad for over 60 years now, it's just the mask is now slipping and younger generations are starting to realize how much we've been screwed.
The sliver lining to all this is that, the more repulsive their antics the closer we are to kicking them out of power, because they're only doing this to limit us because they know we are a threat to their on going corruption.
In unrelated news, they switched shift schedules on me at work without warning and I'm pissed.

The movement however gave the game away. I could tell this was AI. Uncanny valley feel as well.

Matt Smith was interviewed on the BBC this morning. He was asked about trigger warnings for old films and TV and said we seem to be moving towards a 'sanitised version of everything. Isn't art supposed to be dangerous?'
Asked about a return to Doctor Who, he replied, 'Never say never,' which made my day a bit (at least it wasn't a Capaldi-style polite refusal).

'sanitised version of everything. Isn't art supposed to be dangerous?' Eh... yes and no. Censoring everything ala the Ethics Code of the 30s and 40s isn't good, but properly labeling things is just common courtesy.
I'm a ballet fan, and I absolutely wish there was trigger warnings and a rating system for that, cause you would be surprised just how many famous ballets feature rape scenes. Some of which you wouldn't know about beforehand unless someone you know who've seen it before warned you.
Doesn't mean they shouldn't be preformed, but it does mean that people have better understanding what they are consenting to when they by a ticket.

What a strange response. Maybe I should see the clip to understand but trigger warning's aren't about sanitised versions nor is it anything to do with art being dangerous.
