Just randumbly thinking about the movies that came out 40 years ago. Spitballing here off the top of my head : Ghostbusters The Karate Kid Footloose Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom Gremlins Beverley Hills Cop The Terminator The Last Starfighter Friday The 13th part 2 and Nightmare On Elm Street (I watched N.O.E.M. with my ethnic/immigrant grandmother who spoke nil English- she was grabbing her necklace cross throughout the movie LOL) DUNE ! Looking back at how many sequels/remakes have been made of these.. I think The Breakfast Club and Revenge Of The Nerds as well (?!?!) When movies were just that.. movies. Will definitely go through some of these movies with my lil mini-me when he hits double digit figures. @timelord007 .. how many of these movies did you see in the cinemas? I saw a good chunk in the cinemas and drive in back in '84 . Movies still are movies. Some decent ones on that list.

Me and my movie-going buddy did all the science-fiction ones on the list - both serious and comedies, plus Indy II and of course - 'Who you gonna call?' Who d'ya think? I'll swear I actually stayed at the motel in 'The Last Starfighter' or several so much like it as to make no odds.
And mysteriously lost from your list of 1984 movies is Star Trek III. I found it for you on the Genesis planet because *looks deep and otherworldly* 'The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many...'

I changed Car Insurance companies easily over 2 years ago. I just received a letter in my PO BOX today saying they overcharged me so I will be receiving a refund just under $600.
WOO HOO

I'm not saying that one of my managers can't organise a piss-up in a brewery, but at 7.20 this morning I had a text from asking me if I could come in from 6-10 this evening...
On a day of week that I have worked since I first started here. Nine years ago.
EDIT: Spoiler Alert, turns out that someone had booked me off on holiday today and Saturday. Despite me not having asked for (or needed) it. For absolute fuh -!

NOT:
The stoopid carry-on regarding a photo from Kate (The Royals). being inundated with nonsense news articles over Nothing.
It all sounds like they (so called journalists) are trying to do their impressions of wrestlers cutting promo's.
I am no "royalist" by any means, however leave them alone. Did they not learn from what happened in Paris.
Stop trying to pass gossip as factual news.

On the national news tonight it mentioned this (yet again!) and that apparently 51% of people have seen conspiracy theories about it on their social media. I'm so pleased to be in the 49%!
Being famous is part of their job and I reckon they can and do handle it very well. Allowing lots of "journalists" to reveal how poor they are at their job is a positive side-effect.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

One of the joys of my social media experience has been the ability to mute or block. I am in the 51% but my experience has been seeing these posts getting reposted and mocked roundly.

You know what's fun? Putting your glasses down in the (you thought) 'usual place' last night & then spending an hour the following morning trying (& failing) to find where in the (blummin' 'ell) you put them the following morning... True story. Still haven't found them.

Mine's fine, but focus does sometimes go 'a little bit weird'... I do have my (I think) previous pair, so do have them for the time being.

Got tickets for the horror circus show touring around Germany for April. Will be going with my sister and my uncle. I have heard very good things about the show. We have front row seats in the crypt directly at the stage. My sister is already afraid to be abducted by zombies or horror-clowns. This will be fun.

True story. Still haven't found them. They're probably wherever my missing pair is. I found another missing pair in the garden shed only this afternoon (lost since the autumn...!)
When I was young I enjoyed the 'Professor Branestawm' books. He had seven pairs of glasses, all for different purposes, including one pair 'for looking for all the other pairs when he lost them, which was frequently'.

PHEW.. Now that "the news" is out in UK.. Leave them alone to deal with it. They are human after all . So called reporters with their clickbait current-day'isms taglines and more damn gossip and "speculation".

I do have a couple of spares hanging around, but I'm not sure if the pair I've been wearing since Wednesday is my current one or the last.

Not really made:
Reducing the amount of energy wasted on unnecessary lighting is an excellent idea (and reducing light pollution at the same time - which is bad for wildlife and us) but switching off a few high-profile bits of floodlighting while all the other lights of the city blaze on around them is just another eco-gesture. I get that the idea is to have people talk about 'green' issues, fine, but a practical change in lighting policy would be far better.
Credit the the many local councils around the UK (and in other countries) who take this seriously and actually do reduce lighting across their areas every night in the second half of the night. By unscientific polling of the local hedgehog vote (how many times they visit our garden in summer) I would say they have strongly approved of our local council's change some years back to lower lighting levels after midnight.

Last call of the day, I was all ready to head home and the jerk on the other end called me a 'f-ing a-hole' because he chose the wrong shipping option and I just said 'If your going to insult me, I'm just going to hang up. Bye.' and I ended the call.
I might just get fired for it, but I think at this point I truly do not care anymore. My self respect is not for sell.

I have to deal with BS like this on a daily basis, too. And I have been told off for my handling of customers.
However, I did read several economic reports and they without discussion state that some customers, who are difficult just for the sake of it, are just more trouble than they are worth. They do cost the company more in the long run, because they usually demand more man-power, their demands are often not easily fulfilled, they ALWAYS complain, and they create an atmosphere of frustration, aggression and annoyance and that is not healthy for the employees manning the telephones. So in the end, letting these customers go will actually free healthy mind space and save time and money. I also do draw a line at people screaming and shouting at me, telling me I am incompetent, all the while I did my ****ing PhD on the subject and the guy screaming has no clue and is talking out of his behind. I will tell them sorry, you are wrong. I once even countered with a line from Doctor Who "Well, then you will die ignorant." (12th Doctor)
Yeah, maybe that was not diplomatic. But it felt very good at that time.
When I am well and have enough positive mind-space and energy, then I am actually able to deal much better with people like that, and often, I manage to calm them down and let them see the error of their ways. Sometimes, we both laugh. I even once had one customer who had screamed at me in the morning call me back at night, telling me that he was sorry and he had just been stressed out. There are positive examples.
But on the other hands, there are also people full of aggression who "just want to watch the world burn". Seriously, no pity for them.
