Last call of the day, I was all ready to head home and the jerk on the other end called me a 'f-ing a-hole' because he chose the wrong shipping option and I just said 'If your going to insult me, I'm just going to hang up. Bye.' and I ended the call. I might just get fired for it, but I think at this point I truly do not care anymore. My self respect is not for sell. I think you did everything right.
I have to deal with BS like this on a daily basis, too. And I have been told off for my handling of customers.
However, I did read several economic reports and they without discussion state that some customers, who are difficult just for the sake of it, are just more trouble than they are worth. They do cost the company more in the long run, because they usually demand more man-power, their demands are often not easily fulfilled, they ALWAYS complain, and they create an atmosphere of frustration, aggression and annoyance and that is not healthy for the employees manning the telephones. So in the end, letting these customers go will actually free healthy mind space and save time and money. I also do draw a line at people screaming and shouting at me, telling me I am incompetent, all the while I did my ****ing PhD on the subject and the guy screaming has no clue and is talking out of his behind. I will tell them sorry, you are wrong. I once even countered with a line from Doctor Who "Well, then you will die ignorant." (12th Doctor)
Yeah, maybe that was not diplomatic. But it felt very good at that time.
When I am well and have enough positive mind-space and energy, then I am actually able to deal much better with people like that, and often, I manage to calm them down and let them see the error of their ways. Sometimes, we both laugh. I even once had one customer who had screamed at me in the morning call me back at night, telling me that he was sorry and he had just been stressed out. There are positive examples.
But on the other hands, there are also people full of aggression who "just want to watch the world burn". Seriously, no pity for them.
The company I work with has a history of blaming the staff for any and all 'escalations' regardless of context. I apparently have the most complaints because I don't put up with shit, and because, paradoxically, I'm not allowed to primitively offer anything to a customer. The customer has to ask first, and often the customer gets mad because I didn't make the offer from the get go. And no, I can't prompt the customer or tell them they have to ask first. It's so damn stupid. It's like they set you up to fail. And of course I always have to go through some middle man before I can edit or fix anything. Anyways it all depends if the customer in question calls back to complain and if they got my name.

The company will shoot themselves into their own foot, but honestly, good on you that you do not make this your problem.
I keep the finger crossed for you that the situation gets better. And that there will be a better, more sensible workplace on the horizon.

Well, it looks like I'm being charged for being in my overdraft last night... Because I'd moved money FROM my 'main' account, not INTO.
To call me a (blummin') idiot is offensive to idiots.

The story says 'The tunnel is wide enough to fit three buses side by side.'
My 'Doctor Who' brain said 'Or a really large rat.'
EDIT: The map even helpfully labels where it flows through Limehouse. I'm a bit disappointed it doesn't show 'Course of the River Fleet', 'Palace Theatre' and 'House of the Dragon' as well...

Last night I finally remembered our router's password. After a considerable time wasted with failed logins, failed recollecting, contemplating a factory reset, contemplating router defenestration, etc., etc.
Remembered (eventually) SEVEN YEARS since said password's last use!!
(That's the thing with a good router - it works away, quietly and efficiently, and you don't need to change anything for years at a time and when you do... errr, now what was the password again...?)

That's why I never change the password that the router comes with. I'm sure to have it posted on the device somewhere when I need it.
Update on the job situation... the incident with that particular rude customer never came up and starting next week I'll be back on chat. A position I should have never been removed from to begin with.
Chat comes with it's on set of BS, not going to lie, but I'm less likely to lose my temper... or at least less likely to express my temper when typing.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Every time I fly overnight I say, “I’ll get some sleep on the plane.” And every time I land I find that I’ve napped for approximately 30 minutes of a 4 hour flight which means I’ll be awake for almost an entire day.

Day 1 of the 4 day Easter holidays - get paid for 2 days off work WOO HOO.
Went through my hotmail account - Inbox, Sent, Junk Mail, "Other".. did a huge delete going back 5 years of everything I don't need in any way.
Just a fraction over 600 emails - and only 3 spams..
Culled The Herd.

May the good Lord give me the strength to survive my last day on the phones and having to listen to stupid people all day long.
What makes it worst is its not just dumb customers but aggravating coworkers that talk to too loud behind me and god are their conversations asinine.

Happy Easter!
Summer Time has started in the UK, but will someone please tell the North Atlantic jet stream? Yesterday was sunny, primroses and cowslips are doing their thing in the grass and several Peacocks were basking in the sunshine (that's Peacock butterflies before you imagine I live in one of 'The Stately Homes of England' ) but I'm fairly sure I overhead the tadpoles in our pond complaining how wet the spring is...

Parent/Teacher interview-meeting tonight. Should be fun! Wife has been a teacher over 20 years she has a list of substantial questions ready to go.

Urgh, work. Bad vibes continue. Today, one of my colleagues (the one that was sitting next to me) left the office because she had been bullied by some others and she has now all of a sudden been transferred to a different department. And another one of my colleagues came in today, crying. She just came from a meeting with the big boss about some work issue. Sadly, someone else had given the big boss some really outright wrong information, so my colleague was told off and let down verbally very badly, along the lines that she was useless for the company and has not done any work in the past 3 months (which is complete and utter BS, she was working her bottom off for our department). Needless to say, the spirits in the office today were low and the atmosphere sad and heavy. I was just hiding in my little corner, trying to blend in with the wallpaper and not make any sound.
