I have been to a great concert last night (and took this day off work, since I only came home last night 2am). 3 German Folk / Power Metal bands were playing: Dominum, Orden Ogan and Feuerschwanz. It was great. One of my favorite songs is "Bastard von Asgard", so I came up dressed in my Viking Werewolf costume. It is great going to a concert wearing a costume- even if you do not know anybody (like me, old asocial introvert that I am), many people come and chat with you and want pictures taken with you. So yeah, I had nice chats, met a few interesting people and I had some fun. Downside- it gets REALLY hot in that costume after a while, especially with all the pyrotechnics going off and in a badly ventilated hall. Had to go out after a while to cool off.
There were a few other people in costume (but we were a very sad minority), among them an amazing Uruk-Hai (one of the songs is about the Uruk-Hai) with sword, looked like out of the movies!
In any case, will repeat this at the Powerwolf concert in autumn, definitely will wear this costume there again!

Their first English language album comes out this week or next week I think. They translated their songs into English. This might be why there is advertising online.

The latest "Fegefeuer" ("Purgatory") album is a real blast and was extremely well received in Germany. Previously, Feuerschwanz was a medieval party band playing on medieval markets and festivals. With this new album, they became METAL. And it is awesome. I fell in love with it immediately. A bit sad they did not translate and include "Uruk-Hai" since this is another great song. But hey, there is Bastard of Asgard.

Right. So some low-life stole one of my parcels. I just called the postal service, since I have been waiting for 2 weeks. Apparently, an unknown anonymous person "received" the parcel. The postal service now does an enquiry and tries to find out which idiot gave an "unknown anonymous person" my parcel. Anyways, to the person who stole it: Well, good luck with it! The parcel contains a small nest for ants and some ant food. In hindsight, I am VERY sad I did not order some ants with it. Some nice, spicy, aggressive European fire ants would have really made my day if they also had been in that parcel.

Maybe they'll return it when they realize it's not what they were wanting. *Crosses fingers*

I got some good news in the mail this morning. All of my student loans have been forgiven! I applied over year ago when my school went bankrupt and I joined a class action lawsuit. Now we're just waiting for my sister (who went to the same school) to get hers refunded.

The tertiary school system in USA is such that you "pay as you go" right?
Here it's different, they introduced a scheme about 40 years ago- you start paying back your University fee's when you finish/start a job that earns over X amount.. In the early 90's I recall it was something like over $75K per year, now it's pushed down to about $55K (?) a year. My wife has been paying something like $25 per week automatically out her payslip for the last 20 years, it's a traditional low interest rate, though it does change with the CPI.

It's either 'pay up front' or 'pay after you stop going' you get I think 6 months grace and after that you have to either start making payments or apply for economic assistance. But it's on you to reach out for that assistance, other wise the payments will start regardless if you got a job or not. And of course you'll keep accruing interest even when you get the assistance and the interest is stupid high.
John Oliver did a really good episode a few weeks back on how messed up the student loan system here is in the USA if you want to know further.

is it as good as him coming to Australia and doing an "expose" on the "horrible gun laws" we have here ? LOLZ. That is an interview that has to be seen to be believed- he then interiewed some right-wing 2nd Amendment "enthusiasts"..1 said "whoop dee doo" to lives lost..

On a happier wildlife note after the evil Aussie bee attack, yesterday I upcycled (as I believe the modern term is... ) an old tank to keep the local cats off the saucer of delicious crunchy hedgehog biscuits put out nightly in the wildlife garden. And it worked! I went out to check this morning and a neat little semi-circle of biccie bits had been cleared from one side of the saucer.
From which evidence, Mr. Holmes, I deduce that a single hedgehog found it late in the night and topped up on a few choice morsels. (A cat, had it got to the food, would have scoffed the lot, and our wood mice - who are very welcome to join the feast - would have taken a bit here and a bit there and scattered bits everywhere. As no doubt they will when those twitchy little noses sniff it out.)
Hopefully the hedgehog will be back tonight and make more than one visit. (They tend to browse rather than gorge and can easily trundle a couple of miles a night on those little legs.)
EDIT: On re-reading my post and at the risk of spoiling a lovely picture, the tank I upcycled wasn't formerly on the Western Front, now re-armed and ready to target marauding moggies, but an old water tank, inverted, with an appropriately hedgehog-sized hole cut in one end. ('No cats were harmed in the making of...' (etc. ))
