A real human thought that (briefly) passed through my mind just now: “I definitely don’t want to think how old I’ll be by 2030. That’s 16 years away!”

I know you're all absolutely regenerating to know what happened with the hedgehog so...
Yes it came back last night and ate about twice as much food. So I'm guessing two visits in the night, probably from the one hog. Very pleased!

Totally exhausted since I have been walking around for 8 hours straight.... Today I was at Interzoo, the largest pet trade fair in the world. One can only go there as a professional (not for general public). 14 halls, more than 2100 Exhibitors. Amazing! The total hype at the moment appears to be the completely automated and "smart" cat keeping. There are automatic robot toilets, feeding robots and even a hamster wheel for cats. My mind did boggle. Dozens of companies offer this now. If you will wonder, in the future, how humanity was conquered by a race of Cyber-Cats, THIS is their origin. I also admired all the aquascapes and got some free fish food. All in all, very interesting and worth it.

My son finished classes for the year this week and is coming home from Philadelphia today. Then after work I'm heading up to Beacon NY with both my kids. We are going to the DW watch party at the Pandorica restaurant in Beacon, NY in the Hudson Valley. For those that don't know, it's this great little Doctor Who themed restaurant. I've been there a few times but it's been a few years now since I've been back. I'm really looking forward to it, and to having Evan home for a little while.

Just had a look at their menu on their website, fish fingers & custard.

Big congratulations to Pearl Mackie, who a few days ago married her partner Kam Chhokar.

Rough day and now Disney+ refuses to load so I can't watch this neat little science fiction show about a doctor to lighten my mood. Oh well, maybe this is just the universe's way of telling me to finally read some of the books on my backlog... Orrrr I could turn to the lawlessness of piracy... Decisions decisions

That was phenomenal! Last night on the stroke of midnight I was able to witness a much-anticipated and fabulous display of light and action, the art of science live on screen and a delight for the eye.
{Spoiler} I'm talking of course about the stunning display of the aurora borealis which arrived right on time and was even better than forecast. It looked magnificent both visually and on my camera screen. What? You thought I was referring to something else? Did anything else happen last night?

Made: So apparently the guy from the help line of the postal service, who I called because my parcel was lost, managed to track the parcel down. He promised to me he would take care of it personally. I can pick up the parcel at the post office on Monday. I wonder if everything will be present and correct. Not made: Had another run in at work. The usual cattle poop. I was so upset that I hardly slept last night and had been on Saturday duty again today (luckily alone in the office). Just my luck that we had computer trouble and I had to spend nearly 9.5 hours cooped up in there. Missing out on a beautiful sunny day. I also was so upset, I had my usual stressed tunnel vision so I did not take note of anything in my environment. So I totally missed the solar storm and all the polar lights, and only realized what I had been missing after everybody posted on Facebook this morning. Seriously, this just cannot be healthy, that I retreat into my sad little bubble and all joy and wonderment get sucked out of my life. Trying to make something out of it, despite everything: First I watched a sad movie (last Unicorn) to make me cry and tear out all the stress hormones. Made me feel a bit better. And then I went out for a 2 hour night time walk, just right now, to maybe see some straggler polar lights. No, I did not see any polar lights. I saw 4 meteors, though. I am glad that I now have a week off work. I think I will just switch that bloody phone off, too, since I will only get heat again on Monday and I could really do without. Yes, this will also cause heat for not being in contact (and of course missing out on the very rare occurrence of someone nice contacting me, but that chance is so slim, I will take the risk) , but right now, I could not give a single hoot.
EDIT: Maybe I try the polar lights again tomorrow night, I am too exhausted now. But not keeping my hopes up.

Kingdom of the planet of the apes, after how shockingly bad Doctor Who was this film was a much needed tonic.
Brilliant movie & great set up for a trilogy.

We had rain last night, so no aurora for New Jersey. It was a beautiful day so I was hoping to see then tonight, but no. More rain. Ugh.

Same here, elkawho. Though apparently the skies cleared at 4am last night for anyone who was awake to go out and look. I was sound asleep at that hour!

Alright everyone- just saw on the space weather website that there is another solar storm coming. So everyone who missed out on the aurora last night (like me, I was wandering the fields for 2 hours, no luck), there is another chance tonight! Keep your eyes peeled! I will definitely again wander the fields. www.swpc.noaa.gov/
