Microsoft Copilot's recall feature. Goodbye privacy. I read up on this... it's for select laptops that haven't even hit the shelves yet and there's a way to turn the feature off. You can also just not update to windows 11... for a time.
Anyways here's hoping the EUs new AI and internet privacy laws help to safeguard the rest of us for awhile.
Yes. Although there are a lot of people who are not so computer literate that won't even know about it.

The fact that such a feature is even being thought of should ring alarm bells loud enough to be heard on the Planet of Evil. (Which was, of course, at the very edge of the universe.)
Pick a politician you dislike and don't trust and then ask yourself, would you trust them not to have such a 'feature' made mandatory? Alternatively, would you want hacked screenshots of your online banking, tax returns and medical appointments to be sold on the dark web? Even if you opt-out of such a feature, you can be sure hackers will be trying to opt your system back in without your knowledge.

According to a Guardian article - "The newly AI-enhanced Windows PCs will start rolling out on 18 June on computers made by Microsoft partners Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung, as well as on Microsoft’s Surface line of devices. But they’ll be reserved for premium models starting at $999."

Inevitable Labour victory incoming, enjoy it guys!
For what it's worth, my "logical prediction" is for a majority around 100-150. Disaster for the Conservatives but not quite such a monster landslide as Blair because a) Scotland won't all go back to Labour (and the SNP isn't likely to attract many tactical anti-Conservative votes now so the Scots Tories may well hold most/all their 6 seats unlike 1997.) b) There were some odd results in the local elections where the Conservatives held on or did relatively well in councils which (in Westminster terms) went to Labour easily in 1997.
My "wild card" gut-instinct prediction is for a super-colossal landslide because former Conservative voters actually do vote for Reform as the polls have been saying (and they still win about 0 seats.) But Labour win a humungous majority almost by default and the Conservatives are down to <100 seats.

So I came out to my parents as trans last night and they accepted me and are already using my name! That's a whole load off my shoulders that I've been carrying for a long time and it's almost kind of scary how freeing it feels!

I’m so happy that your parents see you for who you are! Coming out can be a stressful experience, but that moment where it’s all out there and they are accepting is exhilarating. I’m truly happy for you.

Thank you! I'd actually been putting off telling them for months because I was scared of how it might go, even though I wasn't really making any effort to hide the fact that I was dressing different and my body was starting to look different too - the fact that they weren't approaching me about any of that was both kind of a relief and also extremely terrifying!

Got my work cut out for me this weekend, babysitting some kids:
5 great tits and 2 sparrows. Victims of the introduced menace- the racoon. I am looking after them since my colleague who did it is away on a wedding of friends.
So now there is constant begging and hunger in my living room.

That's wonderful, great work!
We have visiting Great Tits all day, obviously finding the wildlife garden a good spot for foraging for their brood, wherever the nest is. Blackbirds and Robins nest in the bushes, House sparrows nest in the roof, just as they should and I put up two very secure nest boxes a few years ago which have been used successfully by Blue Tits more than once.
No racoons here thank goodness, but the introduced grey squirrel is a menace and of course worst of all is 'aww little Tiddles oh how cute it is'(n't) - that lethal killing machine that is the domestic cat.

Right... now, I wasn't going to be making any comments about The Election on here, at all. And that determination lasted until Day 3, sorry. But this is, for me, a vote-changer:
Now, it is true that one option for young people would be one weekend a month of local civilian service. It is also true that from age 16-18 I and some of my friends did voluntary service once a week (organised by school) and we enjoyed it.
We chose to do it because we wanted to help out and it's a good thing which I definitely think all young people who can afford the time (which is most of them) should do. But the key word was and is voluntary.
It is also true that I've not been 18 since the Doctor wore a stick of celery, so I am well over age! But I've described myself on here more than once as a liberal Conservative and I've meant it. Socially liberal, economically conservative. That self-definition has been strained a few times, but I've hung on in there.
But the state should not direct our lives, not even one weekend a month, not even if we're 18. Only the direst of national emergencies (WWI / WWII level) can justify it.
Sadly, this plan, like Labour's I.D. cards that Blair and Brown tried to force on us, crosses a red line for me. It's illiberal and just plain wrong. I am very disappointed and my vote will have to find a new home. Damn.

It's clearly an attempt - a desperate one - to not be outflanked by Reform on the right. It's not if the Tories lose but how much by - so I expect a few of these announcements that are never going to be policy but are trying to stop them losing some seats because of the (and I hate this term but it does the job here) "gammon" vote being added to Reform. They'll double down on trying to keep that sort of voter knowing it will alienate someone like you who seems a more libertarian conservative. Though you must have seen something else in the party to have taken THIS long to say "No, thanks!" Starmer will be PM in 6 weeks but he's not exactly an inspirational one, nor does he have a cabinet of heavyweights. Much is made of Blair's charisma in 97 and his centrist appeal but he also had a super strong cabinet behind him. I don't see Starmer as a PM for a decade like Blair and Labour should be in the business of already grooming someone to succeed him. I suspect Andy Burnham will be leader - very popular and brings the North. I think he'd be the Labour Boris - parachuted in after a popular stint as mayor*. But Labour must learn from the Blair-Brown debacle and have that happen after maybe 2 terms, not 3. *Whatever his tattered legacy now, Boris WAS a popular mayor, with approval ratings high even through issues that could sink another politician.
