Just sat down in the theatre, opened the programme and realised the star of the show is none other than Tim Treloar What are you seeing?

Coming back on after a day off to find we've lost yet another long-standing forum member has definitely not made my day. Timelord007 will be missed. Bit late to the news here but I was recently thinking about him and some of the issues and opinions he candidly shared on the forum. I hope he's keeping well and looking after himself.

Thereโs a horror movie called Alien? Thatโs really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

We went to an event billed as a โChocolate Marketโ run by one of our local markets last night. There was a queue several hundred metres long when we got there. There was also on;y one gate for people to get in and out of and it was roughly the width of our garden gate.
However, when we got inside, there were a ton of food vans selling loads of different cuisines but only three places that were offering chocolate or some kind of dessert. We got some food and walked around. It was insanely crowded despite there being a lot space for the vendors to have been able to spread out. Amazingly we saw no bad or irate behaviour from patrons who were dealing with huge lines for food - there was one venue offering chocolate coated strawberries that had two queues that went around a huge portion of the venue. We left after two hours having had a chocolate gelato. Incredibly there was still a ridiculously long line of folks waiting to get in as we left.
Needless to say, the organiserโs socials have gone insane. Comparisons to the Glasgow Wonka experience have been made. Iโm really impressed with the tone of comments from folks, though. It was a free event (gold coin donation at the door) so thereโs much hard feeling about it, more an amused disappointment from folks who wasted an evening and probably a little healthily than they were planning on.

My M.I.L is on holidays in Tasmania at the moment. She sent me a random pic yesterday evening. Out in the wild near a beach (?) was a perfect TARDIS. It's definitely not full size it's just under or just over 6 feet tall so I definitely cannot stand up straight in it. WOO HOO. EDIT: She just responded to me. it's in a little town in Tasmania called "Penguin".. Whovitt are you aware of this place?

I played at a couple of their ANZAC ceremonies back in my trumpeting days (I didn't play The Last Post there, but I did a number of hymns and things). I'm pretty sure the TARDIS there is one of those little library things that people drop books off in and take a replacement one out, which is why it's not normal TARDIS size. Not sure if the book-swap library thing is a huge initiative, but it's something we've got here in Tassie. It's pretty much just up the bank from the beach, so you've got the location right Regarding Penguin itself, based on the last time I was there they have a pretty good bakery, a small shop that does great thickshakes, and a big penguin near the TARDIS next to the main the road (I'd call it a statue, but I'm not sure what it's made out of; I'm pretty sure it's not stone or metal though). It's also the only road, really, as Penguin is pretty tiny, but they do have one major attraction - the Penguin Market. Pretty sure it's held each Sunday (could be every second) and it's full of locally produced stuff, as well as a significant number of second hand sellers of all sorts. I remember going along a few times as a kid and filling in some of the gaps in my Animorphs book collection (still very incomplete to this day!). No penguins are for sale though, just in case anyone got excited by the name It's just the Market in Penguin.

Finally got my new car! A white Opel Corsa (German budget brand). In the onboard screen, you could name her, so I gave her the name "Orcina". This follows the trend of me naming my cars after whales. My white Toyota in NZ I had named "Beluga". Since my new car has a black roof but is otherwise white, I named her after an orca (Orcinus orca scientifically), and since she is a vehicle and these are usually female, it became "Orcina".

That in what often feels increasingly like a very cruel and unforgiving world acts of love, generosity and compassion can still happen. Three separate messages that cheered me up no end.

I don't know how you feel about customizing your car, but if I might recommend something: a navy-blue decal in the silhouette of an orca. Personally, I'd go with one small enough to fit on the hatch door to the gas tank, since the gap between the hatch and the main body of the car makes for a nice "frame." A small, but subtle thing. And useful if, like me, you have a hard time picking your car out of a lineup. That in what often feels increasingly like a very cruel and unforgiving world acts of love, generosity and compassion can still happen. Three separate messages that cheered me up no end. As far as revelations go, that one is by far the most valuable. In all honestly, I would not be here if not for a few such moments of epiphany. As much as I've devoted my life to not remembering things, those moments... those I hope to never forget.

As soon as my paycheck is in next week, I hope I have reached a decision.

Off to the German Who convention this afternoon. Tonight, there will be a pre-con meet-up at a restaurant near the venue. This time, the convention is hosted at a small town, in their city hall. Kassel, where a manga and the Who convention had been hosted before, had made a statement by forcing both conventions to re-locate to different cities. No idea what logic was behind this, since conventions bring people into town, but of course I am not part of the wise and mighty city council there. Will stay in a small village hotel out of town and drive there in the mornings. For the convention, I will be dressing up as a headless monk, but will also bring my Sixie costume along, just in case. ESA (European Space Agency) will also be present and give several talks and a workshop. I love it when the ESA scientists (and astronauts) come to conventions (they are always present at the FedCon for example). It is utterly fascinating to listen to some VERY enthusiastic nerds who talk very overexcited about the satellite or space probe which they control (plus, one learns a lot from them). The Doctor Who guests are Sylvester McCoy, Katy Manning, Michael Troughton, Gary Russel, Wendy Padbury and Tommy Knight. I am broke, so not many money-spending options for me, but I will at least get a picture taken with Katy Manning (I already have a picture and autograph of Sylvester from a previous convention). I hope it will be fun. Sylvester's panels are fantastic because he does not stay on stage but wanders and climbs through the audience. And some people on here also told me that Katy was great fun. I will also report on any Big Finish news if anyone lets anything slip.

Oh Katy is hypnotic she is positively exhausting she tells like 3 different stories at the same time !
Sylvester McCoy & Janet Fielding will be in my hometown Saturday November 16th, literally a 25 minute walk from my house.
