Dad eye operation success the check up he had today not only did they stop bleeding but found cause of the bleed & fixed that, only 1/10 they find the pin point of the bleed so this is excellent news & hopefully give dad his confidence back.

In the grand scheme of things it's pretty minor compared to rran's road to recovery (waves) and Timelord007's dad's eye operation going well (glad to hear it), but thanks to a nice healthy pay packet for working over the Christmas holidays I've just gone on a shopping spree on the Big Finish website without the usual feelings of guilt for doing so. Like I said, small but it's made a crappy day just that little bit better.

A fascist is in the White House and the governing party put that party and that man over the country. It infuriates me.

The country regressing to a Little Englander isolationist island. Turning the clock back almost 50 years. The worst thing to happen to my country in living memory. But at least we can't pretend to be a welcoming friendly place anymore. The mask has slipped & the world can see us for what we really are.

Loading up my next months' worth of listening to iTunes and realising that I'm finally up to the Locum Doctors trilogy. I've waited almost five years to hear these, so I'm super excited to finally get to listen to them

Working on the last scene of my book before the epilogue. Congrats!🎊🎈 Thanks! I did a check and it'll be the first time this team has been used in Doctor Who since 2013 (not regularly since 1987). I'll do a few tweaks, then figure out how to release it for people to read here. If nothing else... Apparently, I can write a book. That's rather neat.

Went for my 3rd follow up with the surgeon on Thursday. His nurse tended to me.. She "went to town" on my wounds with the medical stuff.. She basically re opened the wounds.. I have been bleeding heavily the last day. The daily nurse who has been visiting me since the very end of November (!!) was surprised tonight at how "raw" the wound is, I took pics of the bandages for her reference as each nurse every night has to fill out a mini report. I have taken my 6th Nurofen tablet for the day..
On Monday it will be 2.5 months since I was rushed for emergency surgery. I am so over being 24/7 pain that whole time GGRRRR

I think you guys are always welcome back.
Hopefully, in future, all that buerocratic nonsense gets scaled down, too, so the EU actually becomes useful instead of just a lumbering behemoth. The pendulum will swing back, it won't stay like how society is at the moment. After all, the problems humanity faces today can only be solved as an international team. One day we just have to be United Earth, if only for the reason that the other option is extinction. Brave heart.

I keep my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. Sending a virtual hug.

Remarkable - the things I learn from this forum!
(Non-political comment follows.) That's a great picture, it captures a moment and holds it in Time. I know we all have video devices these days but a really good still image is 'still' worth a thousand words or a video stream imo.

This, so much. If the EU had done even limited reforms, I'm sure we would still be a member state.
And on the comment by JHD - it should be obvious that one result of Brexit will be far more immigration of highly-skilled (many technologically so) people from outside the EU, which is hardly isolationist or 'Little Englander' or turning back the clock. It's the inevitable result of a 'points-based' system - not prioritised by where you come from any more, but by what you can offer in skills.
(I'm sure some of the same critics will then accuse Britain of 'poaching' graduates from developing countries and say it's 'unfair'...)

Well, take a look at the way Brexiteers have celebrated this then tell me it's not about turning back the clock etc. Anyway, maybe I'll leave that for the brexit thread.
