Well, for the minute my store is still open, though people seem to be staying in at the moment, as there weren't too many people in throughout the day... Thanks to "all the hard work (I've) been doing" since the outbreak, and the caravan fire on Saturday, we're being given a 10%/hour-worked for this work period, to be paid next month, which is nice. The extra 92p/hour (almost) makes risking my life work it... Only really 'bad' thing is that a customer kept complaining about the pharmacy 'queuing the wrong way', them shutting for an hour (because heaven forbid they want to catch their breath!) and that she'd "be phoning in to give them 'a piece of her mind'...". It took a lot for me not to yell "GET A BLOODY GRIP!!" at her... (Oh, and someone else heard me mumble about her very quietly under my breath =_=)

Just saved a squirrel‘s life. Went on my long walk outside in the sunshine when suddenly this red squirrel ran across the path in a hurry. I looked up because there was sudden loud screaming- the local falcon had been hunting the squirrel and aborted the strike because of my sudden appearance. He complained loudly. Falcons have to eat, too. Another thing I noticed- above me, completely clear skies. There is not a cloud. And there also is not a single plane. Not a plane in the sky. Over Germany. This is eerie. Now back to my listening in the sunshine on my balcony. They will sing ballads of this.

Made my day - saw a rainbow, a pretty nice one. It was low to the ground and right straight ahead. It lingered, and you could see all the colors.
Not made my day - I don't suppose this actually means we can come out of our arks now?

1st day back at work was interesting.. I expected about 100 emails.... 253 were waiting for me. My work email signature with all the bells and whistles somehow was removed I didn't have time to re-add it.
I could tell within the 1st 3hrs, the flow-on effect for months, maybe years- we will have to either hire a newbie or just take someone from another department.
I walked it in 27 minutes from my house! WOO HOO
Oh, in the new ad-hoc building I am the only male (besides the security guard standing at the entrance LOL). Lovely facilities for me to use.
HAHA

Absorb someone else's shoeboxes for a while! Shoo!")

Sitting out in the blazing sun, in my own private, secluded little piece of an English country garden on the edge of the village, drinking coffee and listening to 'The Wreck of the World'. You can literally hear a pin drop outside, it's like a ghost town. And knowing this is all I have to do for the foreseeable future. The world has become a very different place.

I remember when I was caring for my mother (bless her) she had to take tablets regularly. One night at 2am she refused to take a tablet because it was a different shape to the one she had the night before, same medication just from a new box and different make. It was a battle, I ended up driving the streets in my car just to calm down. Dreadful, dreadful times that changed me forever.

A reminder if needed that even in bad times a selfless act has far more meaning than a selfish one. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52029877Yesterday the Government called for 250,000 volunteers to help ease some of the pressure on the NHS during this pandemic. Just a day later they've reached and exceeded that target (think the figure quoted was 252,000). Altruism wins. And if you scroll through the article you'll see a familiar name from The First Doctor Adventures has also volunteered..

Still in work. Even though I and lots of colleagues could be working from home, the boss/owner is dead set against it, in defiance of government instructions. Whilst my colleagues involved in warehouse/deliveries are essential workers, the back office staff clearly are not required onsite to enable deliveries of essential goods.
Had a conversation with my boss. Latest thinking is that I come in for a full week, do the work of 5 and had half in my department, plus my own work. The other 5 and a half go off on furlough with 80% of pay, while I continue to work full time for a pay cut. That is only talk so far, hopefully it comes to nothing. If everyone else was off and working from home and I was isolated in my part of the building I would be happy to be in work from a personal health point of view, as I would have no human contact at work. But there would still be no need for me to be there at all when I can do the job from home, plus he thinks I would do it for a pay cut.
Currently half my team is (unnecessarily) in work when we could and should all be working from home. There have been threats of redundancy/dismissal if we don't want to come in to work, in which case we wouldn't get our 80% of salary from the government. And we all need a monthly income.
A lot of resentment brewing, some talk of a walkout. I've never been in this kind of situation before. I'm one of the senior managers in the business and Mrs T is my hero, normally I would not be on the side of the striking workers but my boss is really pushing people way too far. As far as I can ascertain, there is no government enforcement body to which you can report an employer behaving like this.
So my physical health is fine, my mental health not so good.

Oh well if you insist... *clears throat, hums 'Ballad of The Last Chance Saloon' from 'The Gunfighters'...* It's great to be a falcon It's a fine thing to fly I had plunged like a dagger On my prey from in the sky - Then she stepped from the shadows And I guess you have a hunch It was Tui's Sixie costume Surely made me miss my lunch!
Oh 'twas great to be a falcon As I swooped through the sky Skimming low in the sunshine And that squirrel's gonna die! For there's none can escape me Rabbit, weasel, fox or stoat But I missed that dratted squirrel In the dazzle of The Coat!
Yes it's great to be a falcon Soaring swift through the sky But I'm getting rather peckish Since my lunch passed me by! So perhaps I'll catch that squirrel On some other afternoon... But tonight it's eating acorns In the Second Chance Saloon!

As someone who has suffered bouts of depression during my life (and still does from time to time), and as someone who has crippling chronic OCD daily with regard to animals, I can understand how you feel, it's really, really tough. Take some time for yourself, even if it's just shutting yourself in the bathroom for 20 minutes, closing your eyes, being still and quiet and taking deep breaths, I did that often. Don't even think in terms of calling it a day, you have no idea what's around the corner, the sun may shine brightly for you a little further down the line. Be safe, take one day at a time, and as my mum always used to say, remember there is always someone worse off than you. I never used to understand how saying that helped, but logically it does.
