Fair enough to each their own!π Itβs just my thing I like the story of My Hero without the entanglements straightforward Hero in action stuff ....where his/her own personal stuff is put to one side for the greater good Thatβs fair π

NOT_ My smoke detector which is wired to the mains has been beeping for the last week every 40 seconds... it is wired into the mains...it says on it it will not function if there is a mains FAILUREβ-which is really a lot of blooming bollocks because numerous times to silence it I have switched off ALL the electricity to the house and it is still blooming giving that blasted beep....now I could go ALL HULK ON IT BUT I KNOW I HAVE A HABIT OF DOING THINGS THAT ONLY MAKE THINGS WORSE SO....I AM PATIENTLY PRAYING THAT SOMEHOW GOD will silence the fooooooooo. Kkkkkkkkkk. Iiiiiing things for me πππ itβs like that man in the cell with the drip drip drip of the tap π€π Despite what it says, wired in smoke detectors usually have a small back up battery so they will still operate for a while if there is a power cut. Pretty useless otherwise if they fail to work during an outage and there's a fire ! If it's bleeping it's either got a run down back up battery or its at the end of its life, they don't last forever. Get it fixed Mister, this instant !

One with a built in lithium battery. Lasts for 10 years and only costs about a tenna. Don't be without a working Smoke detector, especially in an old run down apartment.

I guess that's a common garden variety that's come inside to breed. Now this is the real deal - I believe its a *proper* Aussie house spider:

You know, seeing photos like that it reminds me of why we use to send our convicts over there. Certainly would put me off stealing a loaf of bread if I knew that was waiting for me.

There's another one from a while back on Rita's Twitter feed of a long legged variety dragging a dead Rat up the kitchen unit. They must suffer terrible indigestion down under...

Oh wow, this would make an awesome pet! I actually kept a NZ huntsman of the size of my palm as a pet in our flat, but I was in charge of removing her when she did wander in my flatmates rooms.
She even once lovingly bit me. I also was very careful not to have my cat have a go at her.
Good times.
I think she did a good job keeping these pesky Gisborne cockroaches (size of your thumb) in check...

I always loved these guys. I had Aussie friends who also kept them around in their flat because they are great at keeping pests out. They gave them names and could tell them apart. They were pretty timid and I was able to get some awesome close-up pictures of them.
