First time in years I have started to make some serious travel plans. Yeah, I know maybe not the best time because of Covid still going on, but this has to end some time, doesn‘t it? But making some plans, getting some travel books and day dreaming will give something to look forward to - around the end of the year/ beginning of 2022. I asked myself- what places had I always wanted to see and are within my budget? Well, since I was a little kid, I wanted to see the Dead Sea and Petra. I remember sitting in the book corner of kindergarten looking at the picture book about interesting places. I am a Scuba Diver. I really would like to go diving again. So yeah, Jordan looks like a destination that ticks most of my boxes. Plus I love the food, too. Yes, I know about the human rights issues, so that is a point against it. On the other hand, will me traveling to Jordan make any difference? Realistically? Ordered some travel books and preparing to look forward to something again.

I just went out to dinner at a restaurant for the first time since the pandemic started! It was good it was for a family friend’s birthday. Me and my mom kept saying how weird it was to go out anywhere! All of us are fully vaccinated and we sat outside so we felt safe. It just felt strange to be going somewhere that wasn’t a park though! I even wore a dress and high heels! The only other times I have worn dresses during covid times were: For the zoom quiz when I talked to Peter Capaldi, Quiz of Raisilon, Christmas, and Easter! The last time I wore high heels was when I was still with my ex and we were at the Stranger Things experience in London! Needless to say I was out of practice tonight : I could barely walk in my heels ( there was a lot of awkward shuffling and teetering) and regretted my decision not to bring a jacket as I was freezing in the mini dress I had chosen to wear! I am still glad I wore them because it had been a while since I had the opportunity to dress up and I did get a few looks from people on the way to the bathroom and back. The evening itself was good although there was a lot of awkward staring at the menu, it was almost as though I had forgotten how to order food! I was still glad to see my old family friends. She is a lovely English teacher married to a grumpy but equally lovely British magician scientist ( yes, I know who they sound like but it’s an accurate description of my friends 😉) It was good despite the awkwardness in going out to dinner after so long!
Sidenote: I did miss wearing dresses! My mom once said that I have so many different dresses that that I could wear two different dresses every day of the week without repeating myself and still have dresses left over. Yes, two of my dresses are Doctor Who themed ( one is a blue velvet TARDIS dress and the other is a Doctor Who comics pin-up dress) and I also have a Labryinth themed dress with every character and scene from the movie!

Finally being able to pay a visit to my local second hand bookshop. I know they’re very much a dying breed but honestly they’re magical places in my eyes, a veritable Aladdin’s Cave.
Still have yet to find any good copies of Agaton Sax though.

Well, it's official. I've discovered I've been selected for a Writing Residency. What that means is that for the next two months, I'll have a dedicated space as part of a private organisation, where I can write out my novel. For as many days a week I can manage it. They love the idea, are willing to go for it and I'm already getting stuck into it. I've also got a contract renewed for work I've done for an author. They were very happy with the results and would like me to continue going forward. Today was also a day where the boss got a few moments free to sit down and take us all out for afternoon tea. As a thanks for all the work we've done over the past couple years. It gave me the opportunity to praise my team to the rafters as everyone else was being praised. I was delighted.
It was a good day. How exciting is that?! Congratulations!

Still have yet to find any good copies of Agaton Sax though. I went to my local 2nd hand book shop today too- and a music store.. Spent $130 on 2 vinyls and 2 cds. WOOPS.
Nothing in the book store for me unfortunately.
My dream place to work for would be a music/book/comicbook/dvd-bluray store..

Just had a sparrowhawk in the garden... (with its freshly caught meal) but it saw me gawping and flew off again. Beautiful bird and barely 6 feet away...

Spent the afternoon chilling on my balcony in the sunshine and painting and listening to audios (3rd Doctor adventures).
Just painted something small, for a friend of mine + my own work desk. Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and Doreen Green (the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl).
I have a friend who is also a big fan of Squirrel Girl, so I thought I send her a little surprise.

Still have yet to find any good copies of Agaton Sax though. That's part and parcel of what makes them magical these days. There's nowhere quite like a second-hand bookshop, that vanilla grass scent of old books, cliffs of paper and the birdsong creak of wooden floorboards. One of the few places in a thriving city where you can find a point of stillness. Books do something to their environment. In large numbers, they seem to almost tranquilise it. Like forest groves.

Not made: I am fully vaccinated, as are my mom and my aunt and had recently gone with my mom over to my aunt’s house massless for the first time since the pandemic started. I felt relaxed and enjoyed myself. Unfortunately my aunt happens to have started a job where she is required to work in close proximity to children many of whom can’t wear masks and yesterday had realized she had come down with a bad cold. She still came on the evening walk with me and my mom last night which I felt very uncomfortable knowing she was sick. I have always felt at least slightly uncomfortable around contagious sick people even before the pandemic. My mom would not let me skip the walk because I would already have been exposed to her germs the night before when I was at her house which did even less to calm my nerves. Now sure enough I have a sore throat today!😞 I hate being sick!

Wonderfully put. I’ve found some real treasures in second hand bookshops in my time. The Complete Ghost Stories of M.R. James was one such item.

I'm looking through my shelves and, yeah, over half of what's here is from one bookshop, which sadly has since gone the way of the dodo. I'd probably never have found out about Who's Target novels if not for my local one. I think they were my most consistent purchase over the decades from the Doctor Who Crossword Book to The Two Doctors. From an era where it was 2.50 for each book and you could negotiate to purchase in bulk because they filled a whole section of wall next to the Treks. If you ask me where I started, I wouldn't have a clue (though my money is on either The Seeds of Doom or The War Games).

And it is back to work for me. Usual stress and chaos. However, upon coming home, not only has a new episode been released to play on Star Trek Online (featuring the original Klingon actors), but there was also a promotion on where one could get a FREE new Klingon spaceship (which is usually 30$ in store. I know, these prices are totally insane, I wonder who spends that kind of money?). Now my Ferasan Kitty Pirate can zoom about in a new fancy ship. Pew, pew, pew. Die, die, die!!!! It is the small things in life. Yay for free stuff.
