WHAT A DAY and it's not even 7pm yet! The last 1.5 hours we have had 3 fire engines, 3 ambulances and 4 cop cars outside our house.. Neighbour across the road had some sort of gas leak, didn't rock up to work so his boss called the cops, luckily he is alive, they blocked our street off completely and as we are a side street off a major main road they closed 1 lane there.. I met all the surrounding neighbours we had a good chinwag about life on our street. They all brought their kids out (so did I) they all loved looking at the shiny flashing lights of all 3 emergency vehicles. Main thing is that Brendan is alive. What? OMG. I am glad this ended well. Could have gone badly pretty quickly.

My weekend is saved! (or better, my autumn is saved; work continues to be less than optimal). My new project for autumn has arrived- the biggest and heaviest box I had ever gotten from Games Workshop. OMG. The new Warhammer Kill Team "Into the Dark".
It is a tabletop game about boarding actions on a derelict space ship and comes with two new and original gangs (Imperial Navy and man-eating Kroot hunters) as well as a ton of spaceship parts.
Plus the game board and the rules and dice and tokens.
It will be a joy to put all these little miniatures and the actual spaceship interior together and then paint it up while listening to audios.
This is my happy place.

He didn't have a CO detector? They're required here if you use gas for cooking/heating/etc.
I don't think so.. It's 8am now, the house is now locked up again and the emergency services are all gone now.. We don;t have a CO detector I have never heard of anyone I know here having one. What's even scarier is my twin brother and I were both born without any sense of smell.. Luckily my boy has all 5 senses..

It appears that CO detectors are not required everywhere in this country, either. And in fact, I grew up in a house with a gas stove, water water, furnace, and dryer and I don't think we'd ever even heard of a CO detector. But they are required everywhere I've lived as an adult. Seems like it should be a basic (and inexpensive) safety measure.
You can't smell CO, but they add odor to gas so folks can be aware of a gas leak. At least they do here.

Police Story 3 Supercop blu ray on the way gotta love Eureka or 88 Films remastering these Jackie Chan classics.
Now if they'd just release Thundrrbolt and Who Am I I can complete my Jackie Chan collection.
Umbrella have released Who Am I but the print is awful and cropped.

Having a terrific weekend. Evan is home from school for a family wedding today. I took both kids to the NY Renaissance Faire yesterday. We used to go every year but haven't been there since before the pandemic. Very fun, but also quite crowded. I have never seen it so busy. Ate the wrong things, spent too much money, and had a good time. Today is the wedding, and I'm looking forward to it.

I had been looking forward to the medieval festival at the castle on top of my home town. They promised so much- medieval market, great food, traditional music, several theater groups performing, falconers and a show fighting group for sword battles in armour. Sadly, from the early morning, we had strong persisting rain, so they cancelled the whole thing. So we had months of heatwave and not one single drop of rain, and only on this day, it rained as much as it normally rains in several weeks. I am pretty disappointed. This was supposed to be a great day out with my family and all my nieces and nephews.
On the plus side- I went there wearing my NZ outdoor hiking gear and it kept me warm and dry. And there were sausages. Hell has to flood first before there is a lack of sausages in my region- we are the sausage people.
Oh well. Such is life. So I will continue working on my Warhammer goodies and listening to some audios, at least that will be a small consolation.

Probably going to get a bit of stick for this but I have to say I was moved to tears more than once. I choked up a few times it was a very emotional day. To see all those involved come together with such dignity and precision was a real privilege. These days, it's not often we have much to be proud of in this country. But today was a day of which we could be proud of Her Majesty's legacy and the future ahead.

Its finally over, until the coronation I guess. Hopefully some impartiality in reporting at that time.

How if your comments are an example of the current Anti-Monarchist movement, forgive me for saying so, but your strength of the feeling during a Mourning Period was High Octane to say the least, and can you bet there will be Pro Monarchist sentiment as determined, at least in the UK. I agree its time to cover other issues, but lets not kid ourselves, the role of Monarchy will always be a clear and passionate Pro/Con debate for at least another Generation. Regards mark687

Regards mark687 It will be interesting to see how the story plays out. Like I said earlier the Queen was able to move with the times. What I didn't say it was as long as it suited her needs and not the needs of the people before her. I daresay Charles and William will follow suit. To quote Simone De Beauvoir, “the oppressor would not be so strong if he did not have accomplices among the oppressed.”

She was personally exempt from the Equality Act (2010) which basically meant the Queen’s employees couldn't make sexual and racial discrimination complaints. And there are other laws she was & I would imagine now charles is exempt from.
