As someone who's not seen the original series, how do these releases work? Are they a sort of remake/retelling like The Prisoner or are they more like the Doctor Who and Blake's 7 releases, where new stories are slotted in? Does having seen the original help with understanding who people are and what's going on? Also, is the audiobook worth getting? I'm really interested in getting into this series, but I'd like to know something about what I'm getting before I do

I'm really interested in getting into this series, but I'd like to know something about what I'm getting before I do Survivors is definitely an acquired taste, like Marmite. You're either going to love it for its darkness and maturity in it's storytelling, or you going to hate it for exactly the same reasons. Anyhow... In order : Series 1 - 6 run alongside the original TV series and like you said, the stories are slotted in. I've never seen the original series either, but it certainly didn't impact my listening to the first four boxsets! Unfortunately the timing of this sale is just lousy for me.. The audiobook. I have yet to get that one, but I hear it's based on the novelisation by Terry Nation..and he took parts of the plot and characters in a different direction to the TV show. Plus the added bonus of Carolyn Seymour reading you a story for £2.99. Oh, and there is also a free taster episode from the Series 1 Boxset in the Survivors range..😊 Edit : My bad. It wasn't five boxsets I'd listened to, it was four. Amended accordingly.

At no point did I feel lost.

I enjoyed the TV series as a kid and then as an adult the first especially gave such strong roles for the female characters.I did a random listen last night CONTACT by Simon Clark with both Carolyn and Chase Masterson,I hadn’t listened to the extras before and now after completing the action packed and witty VIENNA Series listening to the extras with CHASE I realise she is a very lovely actress.
Cant wait for this release.
