When I joined the old BF forum, in fact the old old BF forum, Jason was the first member who came to my attention. He stood out partly because of the frequency of his posts but mainly I think because of the quality of his posts.
On the old old (ie pre 2012) forum Jason had a tagline, from memory I think it was something like "Computer programmer by day, Doctor Who fan by night". I think the same logic he would have used in his day job as a programmer came through in his posts, whatever the topic. There was always a reasoned argument that was worth reading regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. For that reason Jason was the only member whose profile I would regularly go to in order to look at his recent posts to be sure I hadn't missed anything.
I never really had any direct personal interaction with him so unfortunately I can't say aything on what he was like to interact with privately. However, everything said here by those who did confirms my impression of him as a kind, thoughtful person willing to give of himself to other forum members.
(There was a thread on the old forum "How about some reintroductions?" on which Jason had said quite a bit about himself. I thouht it might be nice to reproduce it here, but when I got onto the old forum I couldn't access it. Maybe somebody nore technically savvy than me could manage it?)
RIP Jason. You will not be forgotten.

Knew this was coming sadly after his last couple of posts, but it still breaks my heart to know its now real.
Jason was always the Original Face of MODius as he bagged his name on the list before he'd reached that 1000 post mark. (lol the hassles of that lol). He's also the only person i actually let jump the queue in that regard.
Its sad to know that his gavel will never bring arguments to an end on this forum anymore with a straight down the middle skill, not many have.
Till we meet again in the Clearing at the End of the Path

I didn’t know Jason nearly as well as other posters here, but every interaction I had with him on here was positive. I salute his courage shown in his final posts. RIP.

Jason was a good guy. It's hard to stare death in the face, and it took a lot of courage to share his experiences here. He was profoundly decent, a good, kind man. I'm sorry that he's gone.

You know, you learn a lot about people in situations like this. I’d always thought highly of Jason, he was a stand up guy and part of the bedrock of this forum.
Having read these posts, I learned he was atheist. Now, personal beliefs aside. For Jason to move forward head held high and exuding such dignity, knowing in his eyes he was marching to oblivion is a truly astonishing feat.
I hope I can face my end with half as much composure as him.
I’m glad you aren’t suffering anymore Jason.

I didn't know Jason very well compared to many here, but he was a huge contributor to this forum since the early days, a thoughtful fair mod and kind , considerate friend to us all, he fought this illness with remarkable bravery and dignity right to the very end, he will be missed, but not forgotten.
Rest in peace Jason.

Here is Jason writing about himself in January 2013 on the old BF Forum in the How about some reintroductions thread .... (Acknowledgements to lidar 2 for the idea.)
Jason here, early to mid 40's, used to be a computer programmer working for the banks, then became an IT Manager for an internet company, left there because of various ill health reasons and these days I am mostly housebound (which seems to bother others far more than it bothers me).
My earlist clear memories of Doctor Who is what to me at the time seemed like endless repeats of Planet of the Spiders before the new season started. However, I did have dim memories of other Pertwee stories, but even Planet of the Spiders to my memory had Tom Baker in them... as for Harry Sulivan... oh my, when I got into buying vidoes of Who and found out that Pertwee was actually the Doctor in those stories and that somehow, someone had slipped in this entire new character called Harry Sulivan, I'm telling you, there was no Harry Sulivan in any of the Who's I watched on first run, oh no, someone put him in later, oh yes they did!
Tom Baker was my Doctor, he was infact The Doctor (if you see what I mean) the change to All Creatures Great and Small at first I found quite unsettling, but I continued to watch mostly, than teenage years hit me, as did Colin Bakers Doctor and by the time they introduced the bright, bubbly and ever so grating "I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick" girl as his companion I basically stopped watching, having decided I was both too old for Who now, and that it was not cool anyway.
But actually the ever present threat of Who being taken off air made me want to return to a program I loved and I picked it up again with Sylvestor McCoy after he dumped the screaming bright bubbly thing. I thought at the time Sylvestor was the best Doctor since Tom Baker, and indeed in my mind rivalled him for top spot, I was gutted when they canneled Who, my relationship and love of Who rekindled, stories I really liked and then gone. I hated Micheal Grade, and frankly have never upgraded my opinion of him since.
Yeah into the wilderness years I walked. There was breifly a beacon of hope that some called a TV movie, it was neither as bad as I feared nore as good as I hoped, and when it came to nothing more than that, I was both sad that yet again I was bereft of my Who, bad glad that I could forget about the half human, kissing Doctor!
UK Gold came along, and suddenly I was watching Doctor Who again, Saturday mornings were a real treat for me, I would sit down and watch 2 to 3 hours of Who and still have time afterwards to go shopping or whatever. There was this one day though, a day I personally found incredibly annoying and insensative, where at the bottom on just about every channel that was not a news channel had a banner that read "You should turn to a news channel" man I saw that and I thought something important had happened, I mean every channel said it, and they plastered it all over my beloved Who, what could be happening? I mean the world was ending or what? So I turned and watched the news, and all that had happened was some woman had been killed in a car crash, big deal, my sister had died earlier in the year, a tragic and far more important event to me, yet no TV channels directed a whole nation to watch the same endlessly repeated news stories about it, no, my sister death went unmentioned, a life changing event for me, but some stranger dying in a car crash? Apparently that was supposed to be importan to me, well &^%$ you!
Along with UK Gold and video I discovered Hartnell and Patrick Troughton. Patrick I found easy to like, Hartnell a lot less so and tended to avoid him.
Then around 6 years ago I guess, for some reason, I decided to order some BF audios, I bought season 1 of the EDA's which provided me with a monthly Who story through the post and first 24 Who's from the Monthly range. Quite a big dip for a first try I guess, but I needed a good Who fix and repeats were no longer doing it for me.
Since that time, I've tried a few Who forums, but man, so many vicious, righteous people populate many of them, they are just not freindly places, but here is different, a smaller, much more polite and well behaved circle of people, welcoming of new comers and happy to entertain contraian views.
Anyway, thats far more than I intended to write, it's both accurate and at the same time misleading slant on my world, if you bothered to read it all, thank you, and if you didn't, I don't blame you!

Nice, @stevo. Glad you found that. @stevo and lidar2, how did you even access the old forum? I've been getting a 404 when I try to view it, for about the last year.

I got to know Jason when this forum was started and he and I were two of the people recruited to be moderators and administrators. I appreciated Jason's knowledge of the tech side of things as we worked to set up the forum.
But Jason also had a very strong sense of justice and fairness. Often when we would discuss rules and behavior on the board, he would be the dissenting voice and he really made me, for one, think about whether we were making a rule (or a judgment on a member who had been reported) because it was irritating us or because it was the right thing to do. We didn't always agree, in the end, but we had many thoughtful discussions among the moderators. And Jason had a good sense of himself and his own limits in terms of when he needed to step back from a discussion for one reason or another.
Generally on the board, from a non-moderator point of view, I appreciated Jason's comments on many topics, whether it was Doctor Who or current events. His comments were interesting and thought-provoking.
Jason will be very much missed here and I'm sad that he's gone. Even knowing for such a long time that it was coming does not lessen the shock when someone so young dies.
Finally, I want to send condolences to all of Jason's family and friends, those who knew him personally and interacted with him regularly. My thoughts are with you.

Oh no. I did not even know he was ill.
I never met him in person, but from what I saw he was genuinely a good person. The world needs people like that.
