Like Neverwhere and Torchwood had a baby. And then what happened at the end happened. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the episode. Seemed just sort of run of the mill. Until it wasn't.

I'm not sure on this one.
I did like the ideas behind it, but it felt rough in places, but it really felt as if it needed another draft to get it to work. I understand they wanted to emphasise and humanise the aliens of The Street as ordinary people and their everyday world, but if anything, this episode felt a little too low-key - and Who is usual spectacle, spectacle, otherworlidness every other week. I think the raven itself was a nice idea, but I think the death would have should have been more restrained, perhaps just a tap.
Alshidar/Me's plan backfiring was heartbreaking - that long life hasn't served you well, has it?
In the end, I'm certiantly not opposed to Sarah Dollard writing for the series again and would welcome her return, but this ep didn't quite gel together for me.
As for Clara's death..... I don't know how to feel about it. If this it (and we're all thinking it's a), then I'm disappointed that she went out on an episode which as patchy as this one. I do think the idea behind it was a great idea that the episode didn't quite carry and it's shame that the promotion team went agasint Moffat's intention (and apparently the official synopysis for the finale is even worse! I'm sticking to DWM and locking myself in my bedroom) and hyped up the twist so much.

DWM have the same synopsis for the last ep - don't read too much! Also...the front cover has Clara in a costume and setting we haven't seen this series...hmmm

I really enjoyed that episode that said...the pacing was a bit uneven, Rigsy (a very likeable character so far) kinda dissapeared into the background as a plot device by the end of the episode, the hidden street was a very interesting concept that went sadly underdeveloped, and Clara's death was weirdly understated and heavy handed in its symbolism at the same time.
7/10 from me.
Great debut by Sarah Dollard i.m.o.
I've read a few rumours about the finale...and I think I can guess where some it may be going...

(One of Clara's echos with an American accent to show off Jenna Coleman's range? Given Clara's number of depatures and returns, I don't think it would hurt for Twelve to be alone for awhile to ease in the new companion) The DWM article seem pretty non-spoilery to me, but I'll resist :slaps wrist:.

Pretty well-crafted episode all round.
Can't say I really felt a great deal for Clara. I liked how pointless and tragically avoidable her death was, and the way all here foreshadowed recklessness has paid off.
But the death-scene itself was a bit drawn out, and after the string of fake-outs across the show's history, I found myself doubting it's legitimacy; completely taking me out of the moment.
Though to its credit, I did feel bad for the Doctor. Getting that angry in-front of Clara actually was pretty effective.
I think he jumped a gun a bit with the Trap-street theory. Didn't seem like there was even some hint leading him down that train of thought.
But those niggles aside, some interesting story/sci-fi concepts, all utilized to great effect, in a well-paced story, that built on Series 9's past, prepped future episodes, while providing a compelling stand-alone mystery of its own.

I really enjoyed that episode, I thought it came together well. I'm sad to see Clara go, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing one of her splinters in the finale, given the whole waitress/diner thing in DWM. Although, knowing that made the death feel a little less impactful, given that we know she's back in some form.

I wonder if Only The Monstrous trailer will drop today to tie-in into this story?

I really wish they would've left Clara alone at the end of the last season. That was a very nice/sad/tragic goodbye. The way this ended Clara was pointless in my opinion. It would have had more of an impact if Rigsy actually would have died. But no, it's just a pointless death, a stupid mistake. Maybe it wasn't really Clara? It could be just a hologram for all we know. Which is another thing I don't like about this episode. Why not just show the aliens? The episode was a good setup for the next one. The next one looks like it's going to be fascinating. Unfortunately, all of the two-parters this season have just felt like setups for the next episode. I'm sorry... I guess I'm angry and needed to vent

Hmm, I actually liked this episode, even though I think it could have done with an extra 15 minutes or so to delve into the idea of the street, and especially the Janus child. That was fascinating. I don't mind that it wasn't all spectacle. Not all episodes should actually be loud and big. This was a nice little episode. I like where Ashildr/Me has taken her life at this point.
As for Clara's death, it was a little long but it didn't bother me too much. I was shocked at how intimate it was. I believe that this is the first time that we have actually watched the companion while he/she was dying. With Adric we see the ship crash, but not his actual death. That was very unsettling.
I'm really looking forward to next week's episode.

Everything with the Doctor, Clara, and Mayor Me was perfect, but I think they could have done more with the trap street idea, and with the alien refugees living on Earth. Maybe this should have been a two parter. Why are the seasons only twelve episodes long now, anyway?

I wasn't sure about Sara Kingdom. Since I haven't seen and it doesn't exist (as far as we know) I can't really speak to what happens in that episode.
But I will change my statement: It is the first time in my experience that they have shown the companion while he/she is dying.

I loved this episode, quite frankly. I loved the parallels to Mummy on the Orient Express, which is where Clara sort of started down this reckless path. Not only that, but the monster here was similar in a way to the Foretold (I think that's what it's called) and I loved how just as the Doctor moved the curse off of one of the victims in MotOE, Clara takes Rigsy's curse - except it backfires on her. Ever since the last half of Series 8, there's been this build up about Clara becoming more and more like the Doctor or at least trying to emulate him and here it finally pays off. Yeah, maybe trying to relate Clara's recklessness to Danny's death would have worked better if we saw her mourn a bit throughout this series, but I still think her death was quite impactful and it shows how toxic traveling with the Doctor can be better than any other moment in NuWho. And I also don't think knowing a remnant of Clara appears in the last episode makes this episode any less impactful - if anything, I think it makes sense to have one of them appear sort of as closure for the Doctor. He would be able to see that, no matter what, Clara's impact on the universe and her memory will live on.
As for Capaldi, DAMN did he look scary at the end. I was literally trembling just watching him confront Mayor Me (or whatever her name is now). He's able to bring this level of intensity to the Doctor that, quite frankly, no other actor - not even Tom Baker - was able to reach. I really, really hope he stays on for another two seasons!
Anyways, I honestly think this was the best episode since Mummy on the Orient Express and Flatline. Wonderful, wonderful stuff!
