Really would be a good idea - I did a rewatch as 'homework' between 8A and 8B after Unexpected Guest Character showed up and I was so pleased I had done, given what happened in 8B!
And as fantasticalice says, the Loose Cannon recon (brilliant) does show the Daleks at their worst/best. It's a long and varied ride from ruthless Daleks to outright comedy and back again, great guest characters and one heck of an ending you will never forget, even as a recon. Very highly recommended.
I still consider it the scariest Dalek story ever because in a very terrifying way it is like the Daleks have power that reaches beyond the tv into our world. Because not even missing footage can stop the Daleks! They still move, kill, scream and tromp over all the still images. I know Loose Cannon was just making an effort to bring the recons to life and they accomplished it. However, the fact that in EVERY single episode of the 13 part epic including Mission to the Unknown the Daleks move is very very chilling. Almost like Purple Rose of Cairo or Twilight Zone. I am used to recons but they also used a simialr effect in Fury to the Deep where the animations made the monsters more frightening.

Has anyone else who ordered the CD just been e-mailed to say it's being sent today (even though they've already received one)? I received my copy back in February without an e-mail notification of dispatch, so maybe they've gone back through the system and seen no e-mail was sent so they're sending another copy my way?

Fourth said it: He's a Time Lord; he walks in Eternity. And so obviously do emails about when his stuff goes out in the post...
Yes, I got one too! Email, not free copy, worse luck. If I do get a free copy well, I can't imagine many better sets to get serious fans of classic Who into BF so I'm sure I could find it a good home. dorney's stunning finale deserves the widest possible audience!

Well, I finished listening to this (for the second time) yesterday. I thought Fever Island was a hoot, with the overly dramatized Jason Vane. (Seriously? at first I thought I might be mishearing and it was Jason Kane. ) The reveal of Ann Kelso really disappointed me the first time I listened to it. I thought why have a companion (and a good one, too) only to get rid of her when the story's over? But on second listen, I found the story really worked well. After the first listen, I started re-watching The Daleks Master Plan, but didn't finish it. It's a long and meandering serial. And, truthfully, I remembered enough about the characters, even without a re-watch, to get the references in this story. Overall, an enjoyable box set.

Well, I guess I had these hanging around for a long time. Just listened to the full set over the past couple of weeks, rotating with some other material. Overall, I enjoyed the whole set. I was surprised that with such an overarching story there were standalone stories, though it seems some people thought they were the best of the lot. Quite an ambitious outing.

Final part and again enjoying it a lot more than I did initially Jane and Tom work so well together.Tom when he lost the initial Little Britain Persona became the Doctor again that I knew and loved and is improving all the more when he takes the acting seriously

On relistening this is just so good and little things I had missed first time round but am glad they did not milk the companion it is rare in Doctor Who that we have that betrayal from a companion I had always wished in Lure Of The Nomad we had had more of Matthew or Mathew😀before the reveal and Toms letting go is still warmer than The other Bakers coldness of Matthew...I really enjoyed going back over the two sets and having a holiday to sit back and enjoy uninterrupted apart from the usual stopping for whisky and eating out lol

I do really love this series - having an arc gave it a lovely momentum and Tom Baker, Jane Slavin and John Leeson are a great team. But having listened to this series several times I still get a bit lost: (Although they’re probably not necessary at this point) {Spoiler} At what point does Ann/Anya become controlled by Zaal (Evil Anya)? Anya was undercover in The Sinestran Kill to protect Trennix, and her hidden SSS agent subconscious got her to join the Doctor at the end to continue searching for the Syndicate. But is Zaal already in charge of her at this point? How does Ann/Anya know where to find Zephon? Does Anya Kill Zephon because she’s just ruthless person anyway, or does Evil Anya? At what point does Zaal know Anya is travelling with the Doctor and decide to use him as a scapegoat to kill off the other Syndicate members? In Time’s Assassin is she receiving instructions from Zaal as head of the SSS or as head of the Syndicate? I’m sure there’s a simple chronology that I’m missing...
