Flight 405 - A good start to the latest boxset. I need a 'refresher course' on The Committee, but it's nice to hear them & David Warner back...
Cardiff Unknown - A slightly weird but fun 'little' story to pad out the remaining run time on the disc.

Interesting 3 very good Eps, great performances. There could be some debate on the Committee. especially if this is a listener's 1st encounter with them. I'm Team Jack all the way, so I was personally pleased by the
Team Yvonne/Norton cliff-hangers
In short though, I'm intrigued rather then excited for the conclusion

Have finished the first episode. Very good! The Andy/Norton team is always worth a listen, and throwing Yvon into the mix as well was nice. A bit on the shorter side for a Torchwood audio, and I would have liked a little more explicit explanation of what was going, though there's enough there to read between the lines. Looking forward to the next episode!

With Torchwood I always want to try and spread the episodes out and savor the boxsets. Though, every time I fail with that as I just want to continue on listening to the stories. This set was no exception. Devoured the set over the course of today and I loved it. I think it’s their strongest Torchwood set yet. Twists, humour and plenty of character moments. And what an ending. Can we just skip to June now?

I can only be honest and say that the character of Norton Folgate is casting a shadow over this range for me. Goodbye Piccadilly is the only single-disc story I couldn't get through. Mix together the characters of Charles Hawtrey, Dick Emery and many other 1970's comedian’s idea of what a camp gay man should sound like, but without the humour or the charm, and you have Folgate. Played in the broadest strokes with as little subtlety as possible (is ‘whoopsie’ really his catchphrase?), I find him aggravating, dragging every scene down. Everything is a lightly observed double-entendre for him, and I find his kind of facile smugness a big step backwards compared to the masterful characterisations of BF's Torchwood so far. I'm genuinely sorry to say this, but it's true. Apparently he’s become a regular at RTD’s suggestion – but what is he supposed to be? Sinister, amusing, mysterious, dangerous? He's none of these things to me. Other characters have their own idiosyncrasies, but Folgate simply comes across as a walking idiosyncrasy. A one-note caricature, he is seriously detrimental to my enjoyment of this range. But, as I always say, who the hell am I? Clearly someone who is annoyed by a character other people seem to like, which is, I suppose, how it goes.

I don't like having a pop at the Torchwood range, because it is of such great quality genrally, but this character just grates on my nerves every time he shows up.

Ok, I LOVE Norton and have from his first audio. Yes, I can see how he would grate on people, but I do like him.
Now, onto the set...LOTS OF SPOILERS, CAUSE THIS IS A SPOILER THREAD. This is my favorite of the Torchwood boxsets. I loved every story. Flight 405 was a great little action story. Hostile Environment was damn hard to listen to, but it was amazing. Tyler goes through all of that, seems like he's learned something, but still acts like an ass at the end. Another Man's Shoes was fun and somewhat touching at the same time. Eye Of the Storm was a good closer for this set and leaves a lot of questions for the next one. Folgate finally showing his true colors, and I was kind of surprised that he does come around at the end. Actually, about the end, what exactly did happen? How did he get back on the plane?
Some other random thoughts: I didn't miss Ohr at all. In fact, I think it was better without her. And saving Jack or not, I still don't trust Ng. She'll always be fake Gwen to me, and I can't get over the murder of Gwen's mother. Why are Folgate and this Hartman working with The Committe in the first place? And I don't believe I have a firm grasp of God (what an odd sentence to write), or how she has that relationship with The Committee.
I do like this season better than Aliens Among Us, and I am looking forward to the next one!

I just finished hostile environment.
Wow, that was difficult to listen to. It was also the single best torchwood story I have ever seen or heard.
It takes a difficult issue and presents it in a way that makes it difficult to come to terms with. This is the Torchwood I’ve wanted since the show first aired so many years ago. It’s mature and dark and brings a major social issue to light.
You, Ash Darby, James Goss and Jonny Green have produced an outstanding piece of work.
I really hope you get an award for this, it is well deserved.

I really missed Orr, I felt like new Torchwood wasn’t complete without them.
I’m hoping the next Set has a story focusing on Ng, considering she’s been with us since the very beginning and we still know very little about her, while Yvonne only turned up in AAU3 and it feels like she’s been here forever.
A few other things I noticed:
There’s a reference to Andy and Norton having an adventure with a Martian thingy. Could this be an upcoming Main Range Story, Torchwood vs New Who Monsters perhaps?
Ianto’s presence was fairly strong throughout this Boxset. Don’t know if that’s a red herring or foreshadowing to something else to come in the future.
Colchester also mentions an adventure in Chernobyl, Its probably just a throwaway Line but I’d kill for a Main Range Story with Colchester.

Yes, it's heightened, and fictional, but the issue remains...

Hostile Environment by Ash Darby is, as others have said, a really powerful and sometimes difficult listen. The steady decline of Tyler, already in a predicament at the beginning of the story, is crushing. Some terrific writing and acting really conveys how the life and spirit are slowly being sucked out of the poor sod. After the cartoon antics of Whoopsie in the previous story, this is a real down-to-earth plot. And it is harrowing. And yet there are some blackly funny lines - Tyler and Mr Colchester have a resigned humour about them, and it's well catered for here ("tottering crab-louse" is a monumental insult). And what an incredibly harsh ending! This joins The Man Who Destroyed Torchwood and A Kill to a View as my favourite stories in this range so far.

This is almost like a follow up to Ghost Mission or The Torchwood Archive which i really didn't expect. I really loved this whole boxset.
Although its a bit strange that Norton got some much enjoyment out of living in Tyler's body considering what it had been through in the previous episode.

A stunning box set! I think the low point for me was Another Man's Shoes, it seemed not only surreal but almost farcical to think of those affected not only trying to carry on with their lives in that condition, but each other's (and I'm not sure it made much sense that to me that they needed to). That's probably a classic body-swap trope but it just felt out of place here somehow. I think Tim Foley wrote an(other) excellent and worthwhile story here, but I think it drifted too far out there by everyone being so seemingly unconcerned about getting to the bottom of things until late in the story - I wish that had maybe started sooner.
