And it seems that everyone wants to say Extremis comes before Mysterio, but I don't necessarily think it does. So I would add: - Between Mysterio & Extremis I am, however, completely lost by the last part of your post. Are people actually suggesting that Mysterio should be slotted into the middle of the season that aired after it?! Oh, no, sorry. The word missing there was "flashbacks", as mbaird07 correctly assumed. I'm just not 100% sold on putting those flashbacks *before* Mysterio. The Doctor cuts Nardole out of Hydroflax so he won't be lonely, eventually goes to the Fatality Index where he runs into Nardole again, then starts working at St Luke's with Nardole (who is very strict about the Doctor not running off to have adventures). At some point in there, the Doctor and Nardole run off to have adventures. I'd much rather put Mysterio before those flashbacks, meaning the Doctor must have dropped Nardole off at some point, then travelled alone for a bit before picking up the Vault.

Hmm... since there seems to be some enthusiasm for this on here, I am going to pick this one up. The 12th Doctor is my TV favorite, after all.

That was quite fun! A nice little short piece. They really nailed Capaldi here

So I would add: - Between Mysterio & Extremis Mysterio's weirdly irreconcilable with S10 and Extremis, what with Nardole being OK with TARDIS travel. Does he get dropped off and THEN Extremis happens? Anyway, the various gaps between Hell Bent and The Pilot are probably where this fits.

Tbf, Mysterio could be early on in the 1000 years or whatever of the doctor guarding the vault, perhaps something happens and Missy escapes or whatever which is what changes Nardoles attitudes about the doctor travelling and leads to the doctor settling down and getting a job.

As with all the other Doctor/BF adventures, I really don't care when it is set or which series/episode it slots in with. I just want a well written, well performed, well designed & directed piece of entertainment. Others mileage may vary.

The title of the announcement for this was "Twelfth Doctor at Big Finish!"
I should have known better, but my heart lept into my throat at that. Then slid back down...

Lots of fun. Only slight disappointment that Madame Vastra wasn't in the story. Neve McIntosh did a great job. Wonderful having a Scottish actor doing the 12th Doctor. And I did feel compelled to look up Aphra Behn's entry in wikipedia to see the relevant information about the historical events.

Very fitting to have Neve on hand for the 12th Doctor's Big Finish debut after the way the Paternoster Gang helped usher in his TV tenure, and excellent writing and performance. I enjoyed it very much!

That was a nice little story. Neve makes for a lovely reader. Between her performance and Lizbeth’s dialogue, the Twelfth Doctor characterisation is great.

Really really liked this. With the witty, spot-on script and Neve McIntosh’s narration, you can almost see Capaldi’s eyebrows dancing around his sparkling eyes. Will be listening to this one a few times more.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Not really a huge fan of the Short Trips range but it's a Twelfth Doctor story so it was a no-brainer. Very nice way to spend half-an-hour walking the dog. Ms McIntosh has a great voice for narration and it was a fun story as well.

That was rather good, wasn't it? Lizbeth Myles looks like someone to watch as she gets the 12th Doctor just right and McIntosh captures 12's voice rather well.

It was quite nice as the Short Trips go. Really looking forward to the Chronicles, now. I hope they get Dan Starkey to do it, his 12th Doctor is great!

I loved it! It's a pure historical (love them) set in a fascinating period and it's the first BF showing of 'my' new-Who Doctor, the glorious Twelfth! As soon as that theme arrangement rolled I was sitting there with a silly grin (yes, sillier than usual) and the grin was still there 36-and-a-bit minutes later as the theme rolled again.
Neve McIntosh's performance is excellent, and Lizbeth Myles' writing absolutely nails the Capaldi Doctor (it couldn't have been any other incarnation we were hearing) in a story bringing a moment in history and an amateur spy on her first and only mission (famous in a quite different field) entertainingly to life. I'm looking forward to hearing Lizbeth Myles' next BF story, whatever it is.
Aphra Behn's most famous play 'The Rover' deals with a group of English travellers in political exile overseas (though Cavaliers not Puritans and their 'mission' is definitely not political...) and I loved the idea that the Doctor, Aphra's 'muse', dropped in at the 'first night'. The play isn't named here but the timing would be about right I think?, some ten years later and with Aphra already a famous playwright. I wondered if Aphra's tactic here of explaining her motives as vengeance against Nell Gwynne (because the conspirators would be ready to believe that two women were in conflict over a man, rather than politically motivated) was a nod to 'The Rover', where the women are generally not competitors (though from very different backgrounds) but the men certainly are?
Anyway, it's an excellent Short Trip, lots of fun and highly recommended.
