It's hard to tell what's going on. But in a possible sign of progress, the "awaiting publication" note on my Book Depository orders has vanished, but they are still showing as "currently unavailable" - which would appear to coincide with Trace's "they sold really well and are waiting for more stock" theory. Of course, I suspect it's pre-set text on the system rather than a case-specific description of what's going on, so I'm continuing to wait hopefully. But I won't pre-order any others until these two are sent out,

And now... my order of the first two has been cancelled by Book Depository! They are still listed, still showing as "currently unavailable" on the site... no email to tell me why the order was cancelled. This entire thread may need to be retitled The Mystery of Marily Ross!

I sincerely hope they happen, because I’m currently listening to Kathryn Leigh Scott narrating her nonfiction biographical books, and she’s an excellent reader. We’ve seen that with the Big Finish stuff too.

Me too. It seems too elaborate to be a hoax - why bother updating from one reader to another, for example, or have different versions of the covers? I'm not holding my breath, but I'm waiting with patient optimism...

The first two books are finally available on iTunes! For $12.99!! Strange when the CDs are only $5.86 to $6.99. But, iTunes (the Apple Store) is my preferred method, so naturally I plunked down the payments even at that price! Definitely NOT a hoax. I have them!

And on the updates: the first one (Dark Shadows) is now showing as available at Book Depository, although the second (Victoria Winters) is still 'unavailable'. I've ordered the first again, fingers crossed, and will let you know how it progresses.
Glad Trace has got them on iTunes, because that tells us they've been recorded and produced (I'd earlier speculated that the change in reader might have caused a delay), and hopefully the first one will be on its way to me soon.

And it (the first of these readings, Dark Shadows) has arrived. I'll be listening to it sometime in the next few days.
Still having problems getting Victoria Winters - I checked with Book Depository and they arrive in small numbers. Anyone (like me) who are ordered them but they run out has the order cancelled and the payment refunded. Then you have to wait to order them again! My pre-order was cancelled as have two subsequent orders...!
Apparently the next two (Strangers at Collins House and The Mystery of Collinwood) are due for release around the weekend, so I've pre-ordered.
I'm thinking of changing my Book Depository user name to Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm... (or maybe Victoria Winters!)

They are also available through Audible. While Amazon should have their audio books on there, sometimes they don't get around to it. I was able to listen to both and it's a fun kaleidoscope of the early Dark Shadows with some new plots. There are definitely some dynamics there that aren't a far cry from the early episodes, whether intentional or a lucky guess, also some fun coincidences that the tv series ends up doing later on. It's definitely not the Dark Shadows we all know and love if you haven't tried a Marilyn Ross novel before, but a casual read in another parallel time.
Per the Amazon page, they look to be tackling the whole series of books well in 2020 and now that we have a few out, I'm more willing to believe them. Here's to hoping the steam continues, though I imagine once KLS has finished recording all of it, that we're through the hardest parts of getting these done.

I ordered my Audible versions through the iTunes Store. But, I understand that with Mac’s next operating system upgrade, iTunes is going away for good. They’ve assured me that Apple Music will automatically transfer all 8,000 songs in my song library and all 500 of my audiobooks to their new library feature. I don’t mind going “all streaming”, but I’m not about to give up my entire library—which consists of both downloaded stuff, AND my entire old CD music collection—which took me months to transfer about 10 years ago, after which I got rid of every CD except my Big Finish stuff.

Ugh, I might have spoken too soon. Strangers at Collins House (book 3) is listed as a preorder and The Mystery of Collinwood (book 4) as order two day shipping and get it mid September-October. Both were listed as released yesterday and neither is on audible. I am traveling later this week and I would have loved to have bumped them up to the front of my audible cue. Oh well, plenty of other great stuff to listen to in the meantime.

Oh well, plenty of other great stuff to listen to in the meantime. I do believe they are committed to releasing them, but I also believe that the release dates are also going to be a bit fluid...for the first two releases, it took a few days (maybe a week or so) AFTER the actual release dates to become available through the iTunes Store in the Audible version, but they eventually got there. So I'm just going to be patient, and know that they'll show up "sometime" after the release dates, and I'll keep looking and order them 2 at a time after they show up. I'm doing NO pre-orders anymore until they become more regular, and actually start having instant availability when they're supposed to--I think the first two are wonderful, so I hope they make it through to the end. What a nice addition to our DS library! Meanwhile, I have a complete set of all 33 novels in the original paperbacks...if they DO release all the audios, I may want to sell that set...I wonder how much the complete series fetches on eBay?

Books 3 & 4 are now showing as available, and with the new black covers. Also through Amazon Audible download. Won’t be much longer before they show up in the iTunes store. Good news....so far, so good!

about what length do these clock in at? About 6 hours, unabridged. They are all right around 150 pages, so just around 6 hours seems to be what they’ll all be.
