We didn't know about this, did we? Apart from some teases on social media, iirc. www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-lives-of-captain-jack-volume-02-2019Captain Jack Harkness - time-travelling con-man, saviour of the Earth, and intergalactic adventurer. He has lived many lives. Here are three more of them. 2.1 Piece of Mind by James Goss When the Sixth Doctor falls dying into his arms, Jack must carry on in his place. Is the universe ready for a whole new kind of Doctor? 2.2 What Have I Done? by Guy Adams On the battlefields of World War I, something is hunting in the trenches. Jack must try and save the life of a wounded soldier. 2.3 Driving Miss Wells by James Goss Alien invasions, stolen planets and burning skies - Newsreader Trinity Wells used to tell everyone the world was ending. One day she stopped believing it. Will her new chauffeur change her mind?

Sounds pretty interesting I've often wondered what the future might hold for Trinity Wells. Hopefully they'll be able to incorporate little cameos from her into future New Series releases, ala the RTD era on TV

I am going to pick this up for no other reason than when I saw the cover this morning on Facebook, I spit out my tea laughing. I am not a fan of Captain Jack nor do I know much about him and his continuity, but if this is only half as fun as the cover, it will be a classic. And Jack was already great and bearable in the Green Life, so I might as well give him another chance. Plus, I love Colin.

Always good to have more Captain Jack! I have to say, I'm looking forward to a story centred around Trinity Wells, given that she was a staple of the RTD era, and like Whovitt said, hopefully this will lead to cameos from her in New Series releases too.

I'm fascinated by the return of Trinity Wells - I'm sure I read somewhere that RTD had plans to do something else with the character (in the SJA perhaps had it continued?) I wonder if this appearance is inspired by that notion?

First thought: the whole less new on the website thing is a shame because it has trained me not to check the website and I found about about this from the Big Finish Memes twitter account Second thought: OH MY GOD A TRINITY WELLS STORY. And hey, not too long to wait which is nice

I wonder if this appearance is inspired by that notion? In one early draft of The End of Time Trinity actually met the Doctor (she was reporting on the prison explosion). RTD took it out, iirc cos he felt it was a bit over indulgent and also made no sense for an American newsreader to be reporting on the ground at a British prison incident. All available in The Writer’s Tale: The Final Chapter. To the main point of the thread; Ooh this is quietly tempting...

Ah, that's interesting - I have the main Writers's Tale book, but not The Final Chapter. Must pick that up on Kindle or somesuch. According to Wikipedia, DWM's Sarah Jane Adventures Companion Vol 3 talks of a story called ' Trinity Wells Investigates' which Gareth Roberts proposed. Perhaps that's what I was thinking of. And yes - Jack and Old Sixie? What a combination! Despite the whole dying thing, I hope they have some cracking scenes together.

Yeah John and Colin is a pairing I’d never in a million years have thought of, but now that I see it presented like this, all I can think of is how brilliant it is.

If that cover wasn't an instant sell, Six and Jack were. I'm in love with this paring.

A Captain Jack & 6th Doctor mash-up instantly becomes the crossover I didn't know that I needed.

And hey, not too long to wait which is nice I found out through BF's own twitter, which is how I usually first find out about their news even before the new website, since I have their notifications activated; much easier than having to keep checking the website (even though it's one of my start up pages, I usually turn my computer on earlier than they make announcements). Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I'm so excited! Sixth Doctor dies? I can't wait to find out what's going on!

I will say - the Ninth and Tenth Doctors don't really say anything that 100% discounts a previous Doctor having met Jack... especially given that Jack said he had to wait for "the right Doctor" or something to that effect. And the Doctor is not at all surprised that Jack is immortal in Utopia.

Given the story is apparently about the Sixth Doctor dying and Jack taking over his mantle, I doubt it's as straightforward as the Doctor simply meeting Jack out of sequence.

This is a good example of the cover totally selling the release.

This is a good example of the cover totally selling the release. Totally. I don’t think I would have bought this had I not seen the cover this morning. Jack just is not my thing. But how can you resist a picture like THAT?

Gorgeous cover.
I love how it has hints of the bluray release covers on it.

Trust Sixie to be the incarnation who dies more than once! Larger than life and apparently larger than death too... {Spoiler}With 'The Brink of Death' (superb 'Last Adventure' set) this will make THREE times!
And until I heard 'The Victorian Age' at Christmas and 'The Green Life' last week, I'd forgotten what FUN (in capitals, with flashing lights and a fanfare if I could do them ) Jack can be. Three great scenarios and two great writers (and one great cover), I'm in!

Oh, Jack can be a lot of fun even in series 5 and 6 of Torchwood even though it's rarely the main focus. Funnily enough, the writers for this second box set are exactly the same ones as for the first one two years ago. And as for some of you, even though I'll buy the box set regardless of the cover, I could have preordered it solely based on how gorgeous it actually is. And I thought no one but Colin Baker could look glorious in that horrendous costume. Finally I was proven wrong after so many years.

Anyone who says that they don’t want this is a liar. Look at that cover.
