Big Finish CD policy from June 2018 Where a CD option is offered for new releases, these will be available to order for a minimum of 12 months following the BF release date. After the first year, titles remain under review, and stock may not be repressed. If it is decided that a titles is going out of print on CD then this will be announced on this website and via social channels, and the releases in question will be added to the Last Chance on CD! Collection page. Exception: LIMITED Edition pressings - such as The Legacy of Time Limited Edition - will be clearly flagged as such. The number of physical copies that are available will be detailed on the release page on our website. Titles which are out of print on CD are listed below. From September 2019 you will see our CD releases referred to as "Collector's Editon", but there is no change to the policy detailed above.
See Whovitt, nothing to worry about.

Ah well! 'Nice surprise all the same To be honest? I'm not too surprised, as I thought it odd there was due to be a day between them (and boxsets are normally released on Tuesday or Wednesday, not Thursday...) Looking forward to listening to it tomorrow!

See Whovitt, nothing to worry about. Fair enough then. I strongly disagree with calling any old CD release a collector's edition for no other reason that it's a CD release though. It's only because someone went digging through the website that we even know this. They should have made a proper announcement that that page had been updated. I genuinely think this was all a sneaky move to make CD purchasers nervous that they were going to miss out and make them order early, until someone worked out what they'd done. (And, being cynical here, given how reduced CD releases have become of the last few years - few have sleeve notes, most box sets have only one case/cover artwork which also means even less sleeve notes, etc. - they're making fewer "collector's editions" now than they ever have been!)

BF have been very open about their desire to keep CD releases available to purchasers in a market where the trend is in the opposite direction, and having to do so by reducing the cost of producing the units. By all means be cynical if you wish. Where you see underhandedness and scaremongering I only see a new line of marketing their products. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I was only meaning to suggest that they should have made an effort to inform their customers of what a collector's edition was by their own standards. I think it's unfair to say I was scaremongering. Maybe we're just on different wavelengths on this? It wouldn't be the first time I've had difficultly conveying my meaning in an online environment. I'm happy to agree to disagree (if that's what we're doing).

Any opinions on this set anyone?
I’ve been on the fence about this one, I’ve found that the Torchwood One sets the weakest of the brand.

I've only heard the first story so far, but it was an absolute hoot! Almost worth the price on entry alone

The first set felt like a dud, but the second one was a massive improvement. I've worked my way through the first two stories in this set and, while it doesn't seem as good as the previous set in my opinion so far, it's definitely still high quality. Retirement Plan in particular is an absolute riot.

Yeah the first story is a lot of fun. It’s over the top and pretty goofy but well done, my only complaint is not enough Yvonne. Haven’t heard the rest yet.

What I find sad and a little annoying as someone who loves to own a physical copy of everything I enjoy, is how there are more and more box sets that are jewel cases in slipcover, and less slipcover box sets with an illustration for each individual episodes. For example I love the War Master saga and I think it's one of BF's best outings in recent years but the fact it has only one illustration for the whole set bothers me. I really hope the Torchwood series 7 will still have its slipcover box set like the continuing Eighth Doctor Adventures or the Diary of River Song.

First story is bonkers insane, but so incredibly fun. Gareth David-Lloyd is a hilarious writer, and he also does a good job getting into Ianto's character. I hope we see many more stories from him.
Second story was pretty great, and it does something that I think the TW range sometimes forgets and explores Yvonne's darkness (ultimately, whilst she means well and you wouldn't call her 'evil'....she's a bloody morally grey character). The pacing was a tad off, but still rather fun.
Third story was outstanding, and had some b-e-a-utiful themes and explorations of mental illnesses. Genuinely my favourite story from across all three Torchwood: One sets.
Overally: This is by far the best set of the three (no offence intended to the first two sets. Though the first one was rather shaky, second was pretty great). But this one is just outstanding, and is probably my favourite Torchwood boxset of all).

I've heard the first two stories - I don't have any intelligent comments to make, but I thought the first story was brillant, and the second one too in it's own way, although the ending came as a gut punch I wasn't ready for even when I saw it coming a mile away. I might want to find something a little lighter to listen to before I get back to this set, but it's been pretty amazing so far.

I'll be getting this at some stage I'm sure, but a quick question: I've heard the set described in various ways, but - it is mostly comedic, lightweight or is it more intense and dark? Or a mixture of those things? Thank in advance.

I was not really interested in this. At all. However, reading the praise and the reviews... This does indeed sound more and more intriguing. I might just give it a try. Oh my god. Am I actually slowly turning into a Torchwood follower now?

Am I actually slowly turning into a Torchwood follower now? I certainly hope you are, there is so much to love in BF's Torchwood and it's miles better than the TV series ever was. You should give this one a try, it's the best Torchwood One box set of the three in my opinion even though I liked all of them.
