During the events of Doctor Who - Ravenous 2, Liv Chenka left the Doctor and the TARDIS behind. Just for one year. A year during which she would live on Kaldor, and get to know her sister Tula all over again. But Kaldor is going through a period of tumultuous change. Technology is changing at an advanced rate - the robots are evolving, artificial intelligence is adapting, and with these changes so politics is altering too. Dangerously. Can Liv and Tula make a difference during the most turbulent time in the world’s history? 1.1 The Robots of Life by Roland MooreSettling into life back on Kaldor, Liv investigates a medical centre where the patients are dying. 1.2 The Sentient by Robert WhitelockVissey is a young child - the sort of perfect young girl any parents would want to adopt. She is also artificial, and she sees the world in a very different way to humans. 1.3 Love Me Not by John DorneyA widower goes to extreme lengths to keep the memories of his dead wife alive. www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-robots-1-2095

A crossover with Magic Bullet's Kaldor city series would be awesome but I think the chances of that are precisely zero.
Fingers crossed for Pamela Salem as Toos or David Collings as Poul popping up.

I find the timing of this announcement somewhat strange as this (too me) confirms that Liv won’t be in the next Eighth Doctor series after Ravenous concludes.
As I cannot imagine she will be traveling with the Doctor AND at the same time have her own series!
Obviously we don’t know her fate in Ravenous Four, but I am surprised that Big Finish didn’t take the opportunity to announce this series with...Liv Lives On

I believe that these are probably gonna be set sometime before the other Kaldor series.
Considering Nick Briggs said that Robophobia was supposed to be set months after Robots of Death, whereas the Magic Bullet Series is 10 years later. I can’t remember how long since Robophobia is supposed to have passed by Escape from Kaldor though.

Yes I know, when in her timeline, these are set. And I am glad that Big Finish is picking up on that gap they obviously left with this in mind. It is purely the timing of this announcement that surprising to me.

With this, the Paternoster series and Adam Adamant’s recent announcement, it appears that the 3 disc boxset is the new format of choice for Big Finish.

That is the 2nd time today I have said something speculatively on this forum only for it to be confirmed a few minutes later.
I'll try for 3rd time lucky ... BF are going to announce the 11th Dr Adventures with Matt Smith

Blorp. Not at all a fan of the emerging trend toward box sets that are only three episodes long, but I am a huge fan of both Nicola Walker and John Dorney’s work. Will add these o my preorder list once I can free up a little cash.

It is purely the timing of this announcement that surprising to me. Why though? It doesn't mean Liverpool can't go beyond Ravenous 4. It is only my opinion, but as I said before I cannot imagine Liv being in two ongoing series for Big Finish being released over the same period of time. I know they have/are doing it with Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, but I do not expect them to be doing it with Nicola Walker as Liv Chenka.

While I'm glad for the fans of the character, Liv hasn't captured me like she has for others so I'll wait for reviews.

Liv is the reason I bought Doom Coalition and Ravenous, as Eight LIVes or dies on the companion he is given, for me at least. And I do think Liv is likely leaving after Ravenous, but her own series is something I much prefer as she is much more interesting on her own than with the Doctor. And I honestly like the three-story boxset model, as it just seems to be a tighter way of doing things.

While I am massively behind in the adventures of the Eighth Doctor that this won't be on my radar for a while yet (I haven't even picked up Dark Eyes 1 - 4.. 😳), I am intrigued enough by what I've read to add The Robots to my ever growing list of wants.
Top of that list is of course a payrise or win on the lottery to pay for that ever growing list of wants... 😏

The Robots bundle has now been ordered. I love Nicola Walker and love that she clearly loves doing Big Finish.
