Like the cover to the second volume and am looking forward to the reintroduction to the old sand miner colleagues to see how they fared. They went out looking for their fortunes after falling on family hard times ....from rich and powerful to poor.Collings and Salem are excellent defintely will the stories do them justice I hope so

I have to admit that I was on the fence about this when it was first announced, given that I haven't actually seen Robots of Death yet (I know!) so my only knowledge of Kaldor/the robots is from BF, and I was feeling a bit of Liv-fatigue. I decided to get it and finally got around to listening to it, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Very much looking forward to Volume 2 now!

Just finished the set and thought it was great! Excellent writing and acting, the stories were each a separate episode yet tied together as well.
To me the music reminded me of John Williams, specifically Imperial March. I don't think that's a bad thing either, loved it.
Can't wait for the next set...

Yes am sure the tension will crank up a notch or two.Liv didn’t leave a very PEACEFUL Kaldor behind when she returned to the TARDIS to get Ravaged some more lol

Oh boy this was totally excellent, I loved it. Roll on the next one. The niggling between Liv an Tula was hilarious. Nicola Walker was exceptional, and thankfully I didn't relate Tula to Claire Rushbrook who frankly in all honesty I can't stand.

The Robots 2 has been pushed back a month to July (via Vortex magazine)
(Mods - any chance of tweaking the title of this thread please?)

I'm only asking because this is a thread for the first volume. I imagine we'll have a new thread for the second volume when the release drops

We'll see where people post the Volume 2 stuff and if they post it here then we'll change the title. If they start a new thread we can leave everything as is

The David Collings obituary in the latest DWM says Big Finish "will also be posthumously releasing three box sets featuring David as Poul in The Robots (2020-21)".
Taken at face value that seems to mean vols 2 - 4 are recorded already, or at least David Collings' contributions are. [Unless it's a typo and they mean three episodes, which in that case would likely be vol 2 only.] Hopefully it can indeed be taken at face value

What a splendid idea for a spin off: (For non-UK listeners, it references a 1970's sitcom).

Finally got around to finishing this set with Love Me Not. Great story that really drew me in, plus I really liked that John Dorney actually addressed Liv's cynicism in a wonderful way, just when I'd been wondering the other day in another thread if it was a good match for the dark clouds gathering over the Eight Doctor's head. Maybe I will have to try reframing her role in Eight's life a little.
I'm glad I bought into this series. I'd have though Liv a very unlikely companion to have their own series, but so far it works, and it works well.

I finally got around to listening to this. Listen to the whole thing while doing stuff around the house today. Really good set of stories.

Just finished listening to this set, and what a real pleasure it was, from start to finish. Three genuinely excellent, thought-provoking stories, exceptionally played. Only the occasional 'comedy music' every time anyone says anything remotely funny irritates a bit, throughout. That's my only hint of a negative though. I love the Frankenstein aspect of it all, and the way that, in the final story, it takes on truly heart-breaking connotations (poor Anthony Howell doesn't have any luck with his Big Finish wives, does he?). It took me a while also, to put together Robert Whitelock who plays Skellen is the same Robert Whitelock who wrote The Sentient!
Beautifully played by Nicola Walker and Claire Rushbrook, whose wittily written banter is expertly timed, and lightens moments of great drama; I really, really loved this. Question is, can I wait until payday before I get the rest in the series?

Just finished my relisten ahead of volume 4 coming out and I have to say, this is even better the second time around. Brilliant Liv sarcasm? Superbly timed Liv and Tula banter? Engrossing world building? Three brilliant scripts with great variety? Top notch sound design? Why, yes indeed to all of this! Btw, there’s a lovely line in the last story… “I’m not a cynic. I’m a romantic who’s been let down too often.” Lines like that are just my cup of tea! On to volume 2!
