Early? Wasn’t this scheduled for July? The news article says it was originally scheduled for July 25th but they brought it forward for the tenth anniversary of Ianto's onscreen death.

Oh! I rely 90% on DU posters (the other 10% on twitter) for my Big Finish news, I rarely read their actual news posts — my fault, Mark!

I was surprised by this. 2nd week of the month the usually Doctor Who week. I was expecting the MR story today. Not complaining, I'm VERY happy to have Torchwood instead!!

Downloading this now. I solely bought this because the blurb reminded me of one of my favorite X-files episodes (anybody remember Mulder and the lawn flamingoes?). I also hope this will be wonderfully camp. This sounds like a really fun BF release, so I am up for it.
The thing about Ianto's deathday goes right over my head- I still have not seen a single TV episode of Torchwood and so I have still to look forward to his death... (no, I do not mind 10 year old spoilers).

Series 3 was one of the best limited-series sci-fi things I've ever seen. Series 4 is...best not talked about.

So where do recommend starting it? I had already played with the idea of just getting series 2 and 3, but will I miss out on too much of the plot? However, if this means I am hopefully avoiding the episode where Jack shags the aliens into submission....

Starting with series 1 is the best option I think. It's pretty bad but it still has 2 or 3 interesting episodes. Plus, you could enjoy series 2 even more by starting at the beginning because many of the first series' problems have been corrected in the second one, such as characterization for example. The most awful and despicable character in series 1 became my favorite of the first two series because of how drastically he was rewritten over time (I'm speaking about Owen here). I second Digi on his opinion about series 3, one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. Or, you could always start with Aliens Among Us. Series 5 and 6 are my personal favorites along with Children of Earth and Big Finish wrote AaU as a soft reboot so that's also a good place to start. And if you're not a fan of Jack flirting with everyone, he is more mature in later series and especially in the Big Finish ones.

I find that a really difficult question to answer... I find the 'problem' with recommending a start point for TV Torchwood is that even the bad (or even dull) episodes often have some good character development in them, and a couple of the really good episodes are 'Torchwood-lite'-type episodes. For me the highlights of Series 1 are: 1) Cyberwoman - A Ianto-heavy episode that's also a follow-up to Army of Ghosts/Doomsday 2) Countrycide - Not a hugely important plot development episode, but a good creepy episode. Think of it like one of The X-Files's 'monster of the week' episodes 3) Out of Time - A nice, touching episode for Owen...but it might seem a bit out of place if you're only familiar with him for his abrasiveness 4) Captain Jack Harkness - An excellent Jack-centric/Jack development story. Unfortunately it also ends on a cliffhanger that leads directly into the season finale, which was terrible (IMO)

Just finished listening to the episode. {Spoiler} Don't know if it was me but I really felt like I was listening to a TV episode, more than usual. Probably because it was Moran's first Torchwood script in a decade and one of his only scripts for Big Finish. I just realised Serenity was a sequel to his series 2 episode "Sleeper", which I would have missed had I not browsed the TARDIS wikia.

Also finished this. Since I have not seen the TV episode this relates to, I cannot make a connection. Otherwise- I liked this! This was exactly what I wanted it to be. And it was really fun. I think I can wholeheartedly say I am fully on-board with the fun side of Torchwood. Now if I could just make myself look into the dark side...

If you want something pretty dark and disturbing, I wholeheartedly recommend you Night of the Fendahl with Gwen which was released in March. Or you could also listen to Deadbeat Escape. It features one of Torchwood's villains and none of the regulars.

Interesting one this
On the one hand a very good sequel to a very good TV Ep, on the other, Janto playing house, but with the twist of their opinions on the role play being the opposite way round to what you'd expect.

Well that was an interesting one. {Spoiler} I did wonder last year if Big Finish would follow up on Sleeper. Cell 114 had a lot of potential, so it’s nice to see that expanded. The idea of converting humans into sleepers was a neat expansion.
A fun sequel with some nice character work overall.

I have to say I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. I thought maybe it was going to be pretty silly but it was actually really good (and fun, too). It also made perfect sense even though it's been far too long since I've seen any TV episodes and have about forgotten everything that happened, so I'm sure it works just fine without having seen the show.

I am glad they keep them so accessible so that even people like me can enjoy this.

I really do need to back and watch the TV series at some point. I don't think I've watched any TV Torchwood since I did a rewatch in advance of Miracle Day. Be a fun experiment to slot in audio Torchwood per Tim Bradley's handy timeline along the way!

That was excellent and more or less exactly what I'd hoped for! Comedy "TW meets 'The Stepford Wives'" plus sinister 'Invasion of the Bodysnatchers'-extension of the related TV story and then a serious moment with Jack doing what needed to be done.
Two brilliant central performances plus those wonderfully appallingly uber-friendly people in the gated 'community' with their 'perfect' lives and best-kept lawns and 'can't-miss' BBQs... a place I'd love to live, NOT!
I must admit I'd forgotten Cell 114, the Sleepers and the rest, but it didn't matter at all: James Moran's cracking script reminded me, welcomed me into Serenity and made me feel right at home... 'Don't be a stranger!'
