I only vaguely remember the Sleepers and their stabby arms. I think it was quite a bleak episode.
I was surprised how easily this story jumped from silliness to horror. Great listen.

Series 1 was pretty dodgy with a few gems. Series 2 was pretty good, with a few dodgy ones. Series 3 was one of the best limited-series sci-fi things I've ever seen. Series 4 is...best not talked about. Yeah, that is what I heard. I think this is what put me off in the first place. So where do recommend starting it? I had already played with the idea of just getting series 2 and 3, but will I miss out on too much of the plot? However, if this means I am hopefully avoiding the episode where Jack shags the aliens into submission....
To offer a contrasting opinion, I don't think Series 1 was as dodgy as people claim. Yes, it definitely had a couple of total clunkers, but I thought it was quite good on the whole. Series 2, like everyone says, is very good. Children of Earth ( Series 3) is always rightly praised to high heaven because it truly is amazing. During a marathon of all things Who a year or so ago, a guy who was watching it with me for the first time genuinely forgot he was a watching a drama, the first and only time during the run, that's how caught up in it all he was. He only came back to reality when the credits rolled. As for Miracle Day ( Series 4), I personally think it's very under-rated. Yes, you could possibly cut two or three episodes and it wouldn't lose very much, but I still think it's a really good story with some very interesting and well-developed characters (and Bill Pullman gives a truly award-winning performance, for which he never seems to receive any recognition for). Also, for the sake of clarity, there is no episode where "Jack shags the aliens into submission". I've no idea where you got that idea from, but it definitely isn't a thing Come to think of it, the sexual activity of the show is greatly overstated. In the four series, I think there are maybe half a dozen actual sex scenes. When you consider there are 41 episodes, that's a pretty low number.

On the topic of Serenity, I really enjoyed it. I'd often wondered why there hadn't been a followup to Sleeper, so I'm happy this story exists for that reason alone, but I also loved the dynamic between Jack and Ianto too. I'm glad we didn't get more from the other residents though - any more and I might have been forced to turn it off because they were being too annoying

But we all know how reliable information is on the internets. Well, that is a relief.

That was excellent and more or less exactly what I'd hoped for! Comedy "TW meets 'The Stepford Wives'" plus sinister 'Invasion of the Bodysnatchers'-extension of the related TV story and then a serious moment with Jack doing what needed to be done.
Two brilliant central performances plus those wonderfully appallingly uber-friendly people in the gated 'community' with their 'perfect' lives and best-kept lawns and 'can't-miss' BBQs... a place I'd love to live, NOT!
I must admit I'd forgotten Cell 114, the Sleepers and the rest, but it didn't matter at all: James Moran's cracking script reminded me, welcomed me into Serenity and made me feel right at home... 'Don't be a stranger!' I also didn't quite remember who Cell 114 was, thought it was nagging me a bit. Now I remember. I was surprised that there wasn't a mention in the interviews that John Barrowman has already been to suburbia as a villain on Desperate Housewives (in 2010, season 6). A fun episode overall.

I enjoyed this one, which I wasn't totally expecting as I'm quite ambivalent about the characters. It acted as a follow up to a story thread left hanging in the original series while acting at times as an interesting insight into the characters, and being fun all the way through too. This is how BF can be most effective in my opinion. A little predictable, but not too much of an issue in this case. 4/5.

Another Torchwood episode I listened to quite a while ago. I remember it well and I did enjoy it.
