Making his first ever Canadian convention appearance, the Ninth Doctor is coming to Edmonton Expo! I’m absolutely blown away. For reference I’ve been apart of this con for almost all of its lifespan, and the amount of talent that is attracted to coming to Edmonton nowadays compared to other Canadian cities such as Toronto or Calgary, the two biggest Canadian cons is Brilliant! As a certain Doctor would say. We also had the pleasure of having Matt Smith and David Tennant come last year, with both being second time round Alberta guests. This will make it that I’ll have met 9, 10, 11, 12, War and 7 as well as every Moffat companion.

Calgary is better in every way, hockey, football, lacrosse...

I'd say the odds of Eccleston joining Big Finish in the future have received a notable bump upwards.

I'm glad that CE is now willing to talk about his lone season, and how another stint may have been better. However, I don't know if that bodes well for BF, simply because we only have the time frame of that one season to explore. No growth or changes to the Doctor can realistically happen. MOTS: More of the Same, is what would have to happen and I don't really know if that really appeals to The Ecc.

I could see them doing adventures ala 'The Bleeding Heart' set before the events of 'Rose' Explore what sort of a man he has become after the Time War and what his role now is in a universe (supposedly) without the Time Lords.

I don't really care much about canon, especially in BF. Sadly BF often feels the need to fill in gaps for canon purposes. Just give us some good adventures for 9th if possible. Also I'm not that fussed about growth for the Dr. Did 4th have any growth? Seems to be a more modern thing.

Eccleston said that the chance to grow and refine his version of the Doctor is what he regrets missing out on, though, because he only did one season. Tom Baker had long enough in the role that his portrayal in Robot wasn't his defining version of the character.

Yes, that's rather the point. is it? Every doctor has a moment of post-regeneration confusion before their personality establishes. That's not character development! Tom plays the doctor noticeably differently for the full four episodes, and his portrayal of the character arguably takes a number of episodes after that to really settle down and hit its stride. Eccleston wasn't saying he didn't think he got to that "hit its stride" point in his one season. It's a question of whether there's room for his portrayal to shift and deepen. I think Big Finish could probably pull it off, but not having room after those thirteen episodes makes it more difficult.

Hello again.
Throughout this year with the publication of his autobiography Christopher Eccleston has been opening up about his time on Who and his life generally.
It was heartbreaking to read how ill he'd been on Doctor Who. It was brave to reveal his difficulties with body image, anorexia and depression. To hear that such a confident seeming man with great talent was plagued with such a horrible mental illness shows that mental illness affects everyone.
It is also wonderful that he is enjoying meeting fans and those experiences are healing those bad memories from filming Who
I really just want him, when he's ready to give it a go. I think he might enjoy the challenge of performing in an audio medium. Big Finish's way of recording always sounds very collegiate and welcoming.
As to stories, well, I'd like the 9th Doctor to be given a run of eight 45 min stories like the Eighth Doctor adventures with a corresponding run on BBC Radio 4 or 4 Extra. Unlikely, but any Eccleston stories will be joyously received.

A proper Ninth Doctor Adventures run would be beyond awesome, exploring its own world unconstrained by the Beeb run. I would pre-order EVERYTHING. Just saying.
