With these 4DAs continuing to be released in the first two months of the year I would like to imagine that they have more Fourth Doctor releases such as the Comic Strip adaptations, Philip Hinchcliffe Presents etc. planned to get me through the rest of each year! Otherwise it will be very much feast, followed by famine with the Fourth Doctor. I had to space out the Comic Strip stories to get me through until The Legacy of Time, but now I have no new Tom to look forward to until next year.... I know I have nothing to complain about, already getting 13 hours of new adventures with Tom Baker playing the Fourth Doctor in 2019. I don’t think I have ever had it so good, but still January 2020 is so very far away... I'd love to see another PHP release. Not a complaint about more 4DAs -- never a complaint about more 4DAs! -- I just like the tone that Hinchcliffe stories have (even if they are typically more expensive than I think they should be).

I am surprised about this...
...the Fourth Doctor will also be reunited with a mentor of the Doctor’s from Gallifrey – kleptomaniac evil Time Lord the Nine...
I assume his “mentor” was an earlier number than the Nine, possibly the Archivist (i.e. the One) and although I really like the Nine I am disappointed that we don’t get an earlier number.
I am positive that Big Finish know what they are doing, but I confess I would have liked to hear the Four.
Perhaps that is too “fan-ish” having the Four meeting the Fourth Doctor.
But it would have given more scope to hear from the “Archivist” One, the “Charmer” Two, the “Cowardly” Three and of course the “Arrogant” Four.

I think that’s a typo - the dash should be a comma. The mentor and the Nine and in different stories.

I was surprised that the fact that the Eleven was once the Doctor’s mentor had never been mentioned before!

What a wonderful announcement. New adventures with the 4th Doctor sorted for the next four years, including a “solo” season. Sure what we are getting may not conform to the wishes of each individual fan but still Fourth Doctor Adventures through 2023. Surely as fans of that version of The Doctor this is brilliant news?

Really like the sound of Series 11. I like that unexplored gap between The Deadly Assassin and The Face of Evil and solo Tom stories is appealing. Nerys Hughes as a companion sounds great and I do like the idea of her having an introductory story and then picked up at a later date, like Donna.
I think I would’ve preferred Series 12 to be without Leela, as the fatigue has well and truly kicked in at this point, despite Louise being consistently brilliant. Having said that, it might shake the dynamic up a little and invigorate this TARDIS pairing.
The Weeping Angels have been great on audio, so from them is most welcome, same for the Nine.

Whilst I understand that they possibly may not want to say, is this story with the Angels a "First" meeting for the Doctor and Angels? I ask mainly because I still have my secret fantasy of having the Second Doctor meet the Angels for the first time, as I think that's a story that could be tremendously done (if you consider the type of stories from that era etc).

I suppose something we can infer from these announcements is that work is probably far along on series 13 & 14, which would take us to 2025 and the end of the current license BF has with the BBC to produce Doctor Who audios.

I've been dying for a Four/Ice Warrior story for as long as I can remember! While it's exciting news, it's still THREE-AND-A-HALF YEARS away... I get they want early pre-orders but seriously, it's SO far away. There will be people who'll have forgotten these stories are happening well before the releases are even on the horizon. But at least overseas can preorder before any price rise happens.......

But at least overseas can preorder before any price rise happens....... The same could arguably be true for any release though. The Main Range, for example, currently only goes up to March 2021. For a range that we can assume BF will always be producing, that's not terribly far away. Given the Fourth Doctor Adventures are cheaper, wouldn't it be better to give people more of an opportunity to subscribe to the Main Range well in advance too? It almost appeared as though they weren't going to extend it beyond March 2020, it was only when people started publicly "complaining" (as it were) they couldn't make another 12-story sub that they extended it by a year. Regardless, people will ask why any release announced after the price rise wasn't announced sooner, there's no getting around that. I'm more interested in when the price rise is going to be implemented, if I'm honest. Everything's gone curiously quiet on that front.

Well, it is good they are still taking orders for CDs up to 2023. The day of download only is still a few years away yet ....

I wish I could subscribe further out on the Main Range but I think the thing we are not factoring in is we know Tom’s directive to BF is he wants to be recording audios years out. They have these recordings, for the most part, in the can. I think the opportunity we had with the Main Range super sub was an anomaly that probably won’t happen again.

It is quite a good lineup of writers - Barnard and Morris are great, I like what we've heard of Tim Atack so far, and it's good to see strong new finds like Chapman and Gill coming over to this range - but it would be nice to see some female writers, given all the comments BF have made about needing to improve in this area. :/

(I haz stable 4G!!) 😁😁
Excellent news. Haven't been following the rumours concerning future 4DAs, so the announcement of series 11 and series 12 and who will be in them is a fresh delight - looking forward to seeing just what sort of change the presence of Nerys will bring to the Tom and Louise partnership.
Now if we can just have an announcement on Volume 4 of Philip Hinchcliffe presents and Volume 2 of the comic strip adaptations...

How many years in advance do they record this stuff? Did they lock Tom Baker into a recording booth?

How many years in advance do they record this stuff? Did they lock Tom Baker into a recording booth? A couple years in advance. From what I've gathered, they record in blocks? So for example, Series 1-2 of the 4DA's were recorded within the same production cycle? Certainly they record far ahead at the very least. From what I've heard (though certainly it's an unsubstantiated rumour that you can change your mind upon) BF are currently recording S14 of the 4DA's. I mean, record two series' a year, and eventually you just overlap yourself!

There are more incoming, never fear.
