I thought DT4 was fine. Of course, it wrapped up the cliffhanger I had been hanging on for years. The flashback, well, it harkened back to the first collection of short stories, which by this time I had read numerous times and by then was fine with this.

I loved the series when I first read it and totally adored the Marvel Graphic series of books some beautiful artwork that complemented the story.I often listen to the audiobooks when the time allows as for the film had such high hopes that really didn’t pay off for me. I always loved KING . I did kind of groan when he introduced himself into the story am fine with it now but originally I groaned.Am not of fan of that kind of device. He {Spoiler} May be revising some heavily, possibly to the point of writing himself out of the story. I don't recall where I read it. It was some interview. That would be a huge change though and might as well be the tale of some other pass through the loop.
There's apparently a revised Volume 1 out, but I think the idea was more to remove inconsistencies between it and later volumes. My apologies...yeah and it was a total spoiler too lol

I may have hit my head the other day, but I don't think you have anything to apologize for..
I suppose we'll see what he ends up doing. I'd really prefer he just write the last pass, but I suppose that would require him to answer some questions he may not have the answer to:
{Spoiler} what is this? Why does it have to be this way? Is it a thing that only happens to him, to him and his companions (and what did Jake ever do to deserve this, assuming deserving has anything to do with it), or does he draw different people each time? Speaking of deserving things or not, why does reality's savior deserve all that, again and again? And what could it possibly mean that the Tower appears to be built for him? Etc.
I still feel torn about the ending-but-not-ending. It feels rather like he didn't know until just about when he wrote it (starting with the Crimson King business) and wasn't entirely sure what he wanted the ending to mean. On the other hand, I'm hard pressed to think of other endings that would feel true.

Didnt they plan on having the Elba movie being the start of the final pass?

Didnt they plan on having the Elba movie being the start of the final pass? Not explicitly in the movie itself, but one of the teaser posters was just the Horn of Eld and text overlaid reading "Last Time Around"

{Spoiler} That was my impression, and King stops just short of saying it explicitly at the end of the last book. I'd much rather have it in written form from King himself than in a movie (especially one that got so chopped-down that he felt displeased with it), but I can't very well blame him for not wanting to write a last pass series. I think the existing set is 4,250 pages or so. I'd sure read it. I did not see the movie, but I gathered from descriptions that it is very different.

I just finished Wolves of the Calla and absolutely love what the Epilogue seems to be implying and of the first five I think I can rank them:
1. Wolves of the Calla 2. The Waste Lands 3. The Gunslinger 4. The Drawing of the Three 5. Wizard and Glass

The Gunslinger 4. The Drawing of the Three 5. Wizard and Glass Wolves of Calla is one of my favorites as well. It's a great book - quite a game changer for the series as it really opens up a whole new facet to the mythology.

And a few days ago I finished Song of Susannah which was...good, but I'm not entirely sure about what the ending implies for Susannah and Mia or if well the middle of the book was necessary.

But anyway, not development hell. It’s just that it’s one of a number of big IPs that Amazon Prime Video has picked up the rights to, and they’re quite secretive about their series development and news announcements. Their primary focus right now seems to be The Expanse, with their Tolkien and Wheel of Time series just starting to ramp up early promotion.

I'd only want to watch a series if King wrote the scripts and had final say, AND it was supposed to be.... well those who have finished it can probably guess.
{Spoiler} The last pass, which breaks the loop.
And what the "salvation" that was dangled consists of...

I'd be pretty happy with a straight adaptation of the books, myself. No rejigging of characters or plot threads or 'simplifying' complicated things for TV, just a straight adaptation of books to scripts.

Yeah Digi. I really rarely watch anything on video anymore, but for many years I have stated that if someone bought the property and staged in installments that stayed true to how SK laid it out, I would be a follower.

I think if you take on the Dark Tower adaptation, you have to really commit to it. It can't be done piecemeal. It needs a full, multi-year commitment from a studio and creative personnel, similar to how Lord of The Rings was made. You can't pony up the money to just do one book and see how it goes, you've got to have plan to tackle the whole thing and be ready to commit the time and resources needed to make it. It's a complicated story with a lot of disparate elements, the unification of which is part of what makes it what it is. King put a lot of ideas and influences in his life into a blender and came up with something that only he could produce. The Dark Tower is his most expansive tale and you've got to acknowledge that and do it justice.
I have hopes for the Amazon series. What little we know of it thus far seems promising enough.
King recently said in a Q & A that he might have another Dark Tower story idea floating around in his head. Perhaps if he writes it, we'll at least have that opportunity to journey back along the path of the beam once again.

I finished The Dark Tower last night; {Spoiler} I really enjoyed the absolute insanity that was the ending. Yes it's really sad that Roland's entire journey is basically God f***ing with him and forcing him to go through, but Susannah, Eddie, and Jake all had endings to their stories which I absolutely loved. I feel like the last volume perhaps was a little on the rushed side with King trying to finished when he could easily have stretched this to two books as it felt like two stories. The story of saving Stephen King and the actual story of getting to the Dark Tower. Also is Dandelo supposed to be Pennywise/It? He felt like It or at least Tim Curry's It.
Long Days and Pleasant nights.
Also not reading Wind Through the Keyhole yet...because I don't own it.

I'm actually just reading It now for the first time and am loving it.
