Download in progress, looking forward to these and - ten hours of new BF Who out this week alone. Ten! Luckily the weather this weekend is going to be foul so I have an excuse for much headphone time.
EDIT:They actually are sonic headphones, now I come to think about it. He of the sonic sunglasses would be proud.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I refer to my hearing aids as "sonics" to people: they have GPS and bluetooth capability so I can send phone calls, music, podcasts, plays, anything through them. And, because of the bluetooth, the volume changes slightly whenever I'm near someone using wifi. It's like the world's most crap superpower.

Oh, you don't know how much I've been looking forward to this set! After the brilliantly awesome Eleventh Doctor chronicles, which I happened to finish listening to yesterday, it is time to pick this up. I've been meaning to purchase this the last few days, but was waiting for my new credit card billing cycle to begin - which happens to be today

I may give it a try and just pretend it’s Capaldi voicing 12😉

Just finished listening to the entire boxset, couldn't be more proud of it all. Especially War Wounds, featuring Danny Pink, I loved how they gave him some further character development which we missed out on in Series 8.

Have finished the first episode; was quite good! Dudman's Twelve really comes into its own in this format. I think it's really helped out by the narrated soundtrack framing rather than prose reading.
The story itself was also quite good! Twelve and Mary Seacole are like a house on fire, and a lonely harbor in the Crimean War getting overrun with strangely infected rats is a banger of a setting.

Just finished the first story. First impression- this is actually really good! And Dudman's 12, while still not quite there, is certainly improving.
However, this is a far cry from his brilliant 11.
As for the story itself- the writing is great. Very good opener to the set.
It is a gripping and atmospheric story with interesting characters, I especially like the female lead, who is charming, empathetic, clever but also can stand her ground and even faces up to military commanders. She even holds her own against the Doctor.
The narration works in favour of the story, it helps breaking up Dudman's attempts on 12 and really succeeds in tying the plot together.

I was only going to listen to one story but I enjoyed it so much I ended up listening to three.
I mean, ya gotta hear the one with Osgood, right? :-)
I think Jake's improved his Twelfth Doctor quite a bit and it sounds like he's also got a better grasp of Capaldi's delivery, which I think is the thing that makes the Third Doctor Adventures really sparkle.
The main thing is that it felt like listening to the Twelfth Doctor, which is just what it's supposed to.
Also very nice to get a Danny Pink story where the character is more properly served by the story.

Just listened to and enjoyed Charge of the Night Brigade. The pairing of the Doctor and Mary Seacole is a good one and the premise of the story is great.
Dudman’s Twelfth Doctor is better than his previous Short Trip, but still doesn’t quite capture him for me. It’s not bad enough to be distracting, fortunately, and the narration helps a lot; he has a great reading voice.

I think Distant Voices was not only the strongest story of the set, but also the one where Dudman’s Twelve was strongest. I found myself preferring Stephen Critchlow’s Twelfth Doctor impression from the December subscriber Short Trip, even if he doesn’t get the Twelfth Doctor’s mannerisms quite as well as Dudman.

War Wounds- Finally we see Danny again and it is just wonderful he a) gets to go on an adventure in the Tardis and b) there is more banter between him and 12. I enjoyed this very much, but I adore "The Caretaker", so I do not mind that this is a very much expanded version of the relationship and quarrel in that episode. Danny gets some much needed depth to his character. And we get to see some more of the Doctor's surgical skills- he by now is indeed THAT type of Doctor.
Distant Voices- we had a similar plot before, but this still manages to add a new twist to it. I like these Timey-whimey types of stories. And the temporary companion of the Doctor is a great character with some interesting history and powers. And I am very happy they saved the horse!
I think what really keeps this set above average is the writing- it is well paced, and although the plots are not exactly innovative, they still manage to sound fresh and have some added surprises. These stories are just FUN. Just do not expect Dudman being as awesome as 12 as he is as 11. He has improved, but he still has a long way to go. But this is certainly helped by the narration which breaks up the dialogue with 12- I am not sure this could have worked without it.

Listened to the first story this morning. I thought it was excellent. Dudman has always been a great narrator and I thought his Capaldi was just fine. It didn't take me out of the story like some attempts in the monthly CCs did some times. Really looking forward to listening to the rest.

I enjoyed War Wounds. I’m not sure it’s quite the character development that others have said, as I don’t think we get anything that we don’t already know, and I’m not sure that we need to. What makes this story stand out is that it’s written specifically for Danny, rather than a story that he plays a part in.
I kept wondering throughout how this story could neatly slot into Series 8, as it would surely alter the Doctor and Danny’s dynamic. The ending addresses that somewhat, but I think it does stick out a touch; I’d expect Danny to be less cold towards the Doctor. Mind you, I suppose the Doctor’s comments to him could soon change his opinion, so Big Finish have just about gotten away with it!

Finished the last story. Nice little adventure for Osgood. Nothing mind blowing but enjoyable. Osgood gets some action scenes, infiltration and tinkering. Only thing a bit confusing was Dudman also voicing the female characters, that did slightly break the immersion.
So all in all enjoyable set. Nice stories, however not as great as the 11th Doctor Chronicles was.
