In the new stories does Benny have her own TARDIS key? It's up to you. Makes sense either way. If you want her to have one she got it as a gift. Not got one... its lost in a comedy way So it's not been stated either way? Congrats on submitting!!

The Warner Doctor does have a sonic screwdriver, correct? I was trying to remember if he'd lost it during his War.

I hit a roadblock several days ago. The pacing felt way too slow but I couldn't work out what to do to speed it up. It finally hit me today - I could cut the first two scenes out entirely and replace them with a couple of lines of expositional dialogue in the now-first scene. After a little bit of tightening up and trimming of extraneous dialogue, it's really starting to take shape

Wandering back through the thread (prevaricating instead of writing), I took a look at the that 2010 opportunity guide (I entered with a pal, I recall)... my favourite bit is: "Please use this opportunity wisely – don’t waste it on a story about how Dodo’s half‐Terileptil son became the Black Guardian, or whatever"... now's that's a pitch I want to read! A week out from the deadline, how are we all doing? I have a functioning synopsis and I'm pretty much done on writing the 3000 works, just finishing a few scenes. And I keep fiddling with the opening scene. Have been reading a lot of main range scripts for inspiration, to get a handle on the FX. business etc. Also, read the radio chapter of J Michael Straczynski's excellent 'The Complete Book of Scriptwriting' which has some great tips on fx scene setting (Crickets for example, as a shorthand to signify that it's night time!)

Already tidying up the synopsis, as well as working on the first few scenes of the script. Quite straightforward, have to admit. Once that's all out of the way, I'll make a start on a first full draft.

Who is doing their whole 9k script? It's a nice thought... I'll get the 3000 finished first!

I'm a bit confused about the word count for the script excerpt. Should it be approximately, like the synopsis, or exactly 3000 words?

It's not a hard and fast rule, but going from experience elsewhere, I'd treat approximately as "10% over/under".

Are people submitting the synopsis and extract as two different files?

Are people submitting the synopsis and extract as two different files? Both together in a singular file is probably easiest. I find perusing stuff that I prefer it when authors use their synopses like a cover letter. For ease of access, flicking back and forth between the two, if nothing else.

Same goes for the Paul Spragg Memorial Opportunity entries - always require two pages in a single document.

Submitted. I am happy with it, although some elements are similar to the latest stories. I certainly gave it more time that my submissions to the Paul Spragg Opportunities.
Fingers Crossed. For everyone else too.
