I think for me it would be far more tragic than losing Trevor and his character to lose Henry, Ellie and Quick because of it, just as I would incredibly sad to see the end of Blake's 7 because of the loss of Gareth and Paul.
Surely there must be some way not to squander the treasure that is Christopher Benjamin?

Can i be honest? I loved that Ellie was part of the team and an integral part of the bond between the two. There is a chemistry not only between Jago and Litefoot but with Jago and Ellie and Litefoot and Ellie .... but hell yes Jago could narrate MR James but i go out and remember many of my mates who have passed on with others who knew them. Why wouldnt Ellie and Jago ? its not as if you forget about someone and stop being friends just because one of them has passed away. Am sure Jago and Ellie in a fictional universe went out and fondly remembered him many many a time. Anyways it was just a wish. If I've given the impression that I was trying to shoot your idea down in flames then I apologise, that was not my intention at all. And I totally agree with you about Jago and Ellie. If in their universe Litefoot had passed away then of course they would remember him and of course they would stay close after that. All I am saying is that personally I'm not sure a full cast CD or boxset of Jago and Ellie''s adventures without Litefoot would be the way to go. I could be completely wrong in that opinion - hell, I thought Tales of New Earth was quirky enough to go beyond the one boxset - and if it happened and if it proved successful with the audience then I'd happily (and publicly) eat my words. But if there was a future production then personally I'd hope Big Finish would go down the road of a single narration and follow the path RTD took with Sarah Jane when Lis died - her character didn't die with her, so why should Litefoot?. You could have Christopher reading as both, spinning another yarn to the Club for Curious Scientific Men for example. Or Lisa as Ellie holding court in the Red Tavern, telling the punters about escapades with the Infernal Investigators where she WAS "more than just a bit part and integral and was great". Or Conrad as Insp Quick, explaining to a furious Mrs Quick why he's late home for supper because of some bizarre mystery the Professor and Mr Jago were embroiled in. Or a tale that involved a Victorian Christmas in a haunted house on an Island shrouded in fog / rain / snow... ...and In each and every one George Litefoot and Trevor Baxter could be there, In character and spirit respectively. I love those ideas too Tales from the Red Tavern i would be up for that.

Those Jago and Litefoot box sets are my favourite of the BF rangesand Jago without Litefoot although sad are not unthinkable to me. We have a massively talented actor who in the recent River 6 stands proud....and hearing Christopher brought back so many recent Big Finish box set memories. And i love Brigadiers idea of dramatised readings/narrations by any of the Surviving Characters even a one off anniversary of the range special Tales Down the Red Tavern for me. But i still cling to A Christmas one off story With Ellie and Jago and now Quick lol.... So if it became available...people are bound NOT to buy 😉

I can understand other people’s reluctance to return to a range that unfortunately can never be the same.
Big Finish caught “lightning in a bottle” when they reunited Trevor and Christopher on audio, so I can understand if the company would rather leave Jago & Litefoot well alone. They certainly have plenty of other properties to concentrate on and of course doing something without Trevor in the mix would open themselves up for a variety of criticism.
In The Claws of Scarab thread I have already listed some of the the many actors who could take part in a series of companion chronicles style audios, so I believe there would be scope and enjoyment to be had continuing their legacy in that way.
They could even release them as “companion pieces” to the existing boxsets. A story followed by a retrospective of the boxset for which this story is a companion. So in time we would build up as a library celebrating what has gone before.
However, more and more I hope that someone will publish novels of their missing adventures and then have Big Finish release the audiobook version with the appropriate music and sound effects.
I am very happy with what we already have, but I cannot help wanting more.

One of the curious aspects of fandom.

I'm kinda more with JohnHurtDoctor here - there's a time for everything. Jago & Litefoot was something magical, even when the stories weren't at the peak the synergy between Trevor and Christopher was wonderful. More than any other BF range J&L was the relationship, the friendship. I think that losing one of such a wonderful double act sadly means that any other permutations would be a comedown. I love Elie and Quick but they're not George Litefoot and were never meant to be.
As JHD says above...it's something BF fandom is going to have to accept - most of our main audio heroes are in their 60s-90s. As the years move on, we're going to have more sad losses but enjoying things while we're all still here is the key. We got a LOT of J&L. I'm satisfied and grateful. I can see why people want more but I dunno, some double acts are too iconic to fly solo again.

J&L had a wonderful run and is arguably one of the greatest creative accomplishments that Big Finish have ever managed. For me, even their "weaker" stories are nothing short of a joy to listen to, all anchored by an astonishing chemistry shared between the two leads. They held their own beautifully through their various strange and fun adventures, enjoyed a wonderful rapport when reunited with characters from the classic Doctor Who series and worked seamlessly when played against characters and elements from the new series.
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it's happened.

Jago & Litefoot are a unique and perfect combination, they leaped from the screen together in 'Talons' (only two episodes actually together of course, but that's what we remember) partly thanks to Robert Holmes but even more thanks to Christopher and Trevor.
And with BF they gave us 62 hours of splendid audio adventures (if I've counted right), of which I still have 13 hours to hear for the first time, and I'm making it last. Plus the interview tracks which are always a delight to hear. We've been very lucky and that canon isn't going anywhere - they will always be Jago AND Litefoot, Forever!
As I've said elsewhere, one day I'd like to hear Short Trip style 'untold tales' about their world told simply by a single character in reminiscent mood*, but "full cast" audio is imo impossible, by definition.
*EDIT: We chatted about this idea in this thread:

I wouldn't mind bringing Jago, Ellie or Quick in for a visit. In an odd story where they aren't there as a team.
But as a regular appearance? No.
But I would like to see More Christopher Benjamin across various ranges as a plethora of Characters, he's simply too good not to use!
